Chapter 51: Alchemy
"Yeah, we’ll buy you guys something nice too." he nodded as he headed to the couch, "We’ll have to move soon by the way. They didn’t see my face but I couldn’t really hide my build. Someone with a good eye should be able to suspect me."
"Joining the Gobara Gang is a good way of doing things. We’ll get a certain amount of protection while also having some freedom in this city. If we make a name for ourselves, we’ll have better opportunities in the future."
Mikayla thought for a few moments before nodding, "That’s a good plan but we should probably split up. Nyx can’t get into the dungeons without you so it’s better if she stays with you. I can team up with Elena and take Aron and Letty with me. Help them get some experience.
"Six hours with them and six hours of me just gaining experience for myself. I don’t think I’ll have to worry about dying with Elena’s healing magic."
"I don’t use healing-"
"You can heal. That’s basically healing magic." Mikayla countered before moving her gaze back to Amon, "As for you and Nyx, you can do whatever you want but you should put in some time to enter dungeons for Nyx’s sake. She needs levels just like me."
Amon nodded, "Hmm... it’s not a bad plan but you’re missing something. Elena needs to practice alchemy now. The coins I’ve gotten until now was only because of my streaming. We won’t get lucky over and over so we’ll need a way to make money.
"And alchemy is a great way of doing that. As long as we spread the word and get the backing of some big names, we should be able to get a steady income." he said before looking at Elena, "I’ll transfer most of my coins to you so feel free to buy any ingredients you want to and practice with them."
"Let’s do it this way." he said as he pointed at Mikayla, "You will take my brother and Letty to the dungeons and help them level up for six hours daily. During this time, Elena will focus on practising alchemy and the two of us will take care of Gobara gang matters.
"Once that’s done, we’ll all team up and join other parties. Preferably the teams from the academy. They’re all mostly students and they’ll have one professor keeping an eye on things so the level of the dungeon is going to be low. Nothing higher than D rank.
"Our main goal isn’t experience but making a name for ourselves. We’ll show them the pills Elena makes and try to sell them. We’ll need fame to make money and money will help us get better gear. Better gear means better chances of finishing whatever missions we have.
"We have a way to get stats without having to level up, so there isn’t a need to push ourselves too hard for levels. Take it slow, build a great foundation and one day, we’ll be able to beat even SSS ranks while staying at an A or even B rank."
Amon then looked at the three of them before raising his eyebrows, "So? What do you think?"
Both Mikayla and Nyx chuckled in response while Elena just looked at the two of them in confusion.
"Great Job Amon! You made me look like an absolute fool." Mikayla said playfully as he shook her head, "I shouldn’t even have opened my mouth."
"Uh, not really. I made this plan based on your plan so this is basically something that couldn’t have been made without your input." Amon said while nodding, "Anyways, lemme just transfer the coins..."
Elena shook her head suddenly and almost yelled, "No!"
This made the other three look at her in surprise. What made her go so loud?
"I.. I mean." the girl stammered as a twinge of rosiness spread through her cheeks, "I don’t need too much money to start off. Just ten thousand coins should do... I’ll buy a regular cauldron and practice with it. It costs five hundred coins and the ingredients are pretty cheap too."
That was when Amon noticed that the books he had given her, were no more.
’Ah she used them already so she knows the basic knowledge huh?’ he mused as he checked her status info, only to open his eyes wide in surprise before looking up at her.
"Wait how in the hell did your Alchemy skill get to B rank? Shouldn’t you start off at FFF rank instead?"
"I already knew elven alchemy so even though I lost the skill, the knowledge still stays with me. It’s like hidden experience that’s been stored. If I get a skill similar to the old one, the rank will start at a much higher level instead of FFF. This also applies to those who are talented in certain aspects. The speed of ranking up the skills and the starting points can vary from person to person."
Hearing her words, Amon silently nodded before sighing. All of his skills started at FFF rank and he had always used his Mind points to level them up. They had never levelled up by themselves.
’Eh, fuck it. I have a system. Even the ones with godly talents should be envious of me. Why am I even getting sad right now, hah?!’
Pushing his thoughts aside, he sent 50,000 coins to Elena instead of the amount she asked.
"Just keep it. I’m a little lazy to sending coins too often feels like a lot of work. Just tell me once you use it all." he said before looking at Mikayla, "As for you... I bought you a rapier instead of a dagger even though you have a high level dagger skill. I couldn’t be dumber could I?"
Shaking his head slightly, he bought an expensive dagger from the market. It cost 5,000 coins and was of D+ rank.
