There were many more five-star missions than before, over a dozen in total, most of which involved eliminating powerful mutated humans and beasts in various parts of G Province.
Xu Qian glanced at the screen and roughly chose which ones to accept.
She pointed to three consecutive ones on the large screen, "Let's take these three nearby, how about it?"
Lu Yang froze entirely, his voice trembling as he asked, "Three five-star missions?"
Was she kidding him?
Xu Qian patted his shoulder, encouraging him, "Believe in yourself."
Everyone else was stunned when they took the missions, but they weren't so surprised after seeing the identification card.
It was a special identification card, belonging to someone in power.
Hope Base had several such individuals, all personal guards of those in power.
After accepting the missions, Xu Qian casually asked Lu Yang to drive.
She rarely drove herself since the apocalypse and was a little unaccustomed to it.
Lu Yang shook his head, "I don't know how to drive. I always take Hope Base's shuttle for missions."
Xu Qian blinked and recalled that Hope Base did indeed have a shuttle before she left.
Since not everyone owned a car, and even if they did, fuel was expensive, Hope Base provided a shuttle service.
For a corresponding amount of points, people could be transported to mission locations and picked up in the evening.
However, there was a downside to this: after completing a mission, one could only wait or go around killing zombies.
Everyone was already used to it; in Hope Base, without points, survival was impossible.
The apocalypse was no paradise.
It took an hour to drive from Hope Base to H City.
The first mission was to go to a cement factory to kill mutated humans. There wasn't much information, just that the numbers were less than 30, they were difficult to deal with, and a set of keys was included.
Mission requirement: Even if you can't kill them, please re-lock the door.
Xu Qian parked nearby, and the two of them walked towards the cement factory gate.
The gate was locked, and faintly, they could hear footsteps and roars from inside.
It seemed they were trapped inside.
The two exchanged glances, understanding each other's thoughts almost immediately.
As Xu Qian's thoughts shifted, a Bas knife appeared in her hand.
"Lu Yang, spray them with water as soon as I open the door, I'll go up and kill them."
"Okay."
Xu Qian carefully opened the door, and a huge stream of water instantly surged inside, disorienting the unknown entities within.
The young girl flashed forward and slashed at the bewildered mutated humans.
With a "clang," a stone arm fell off.
Only then did Xu Qian clearly see their true forms; a large group stood sparsely.
Their entire bodies were covered in white cement, making it impossible to see their eyes or noses; they were just white lumps.
What strange things were these?
She didn't overthink it; killing them was the right thing to do.
The young girl weaved rapidly through the crowd of mutated beings, one head falling off here, another limb there.
Suddenly, Lu Yang noticed that the fallen bodies were reassembling themselves and slowly forming brand new mutated humans.
"Sister Qian, look."
Xu Qian chopped a cement man in half with a backhand strike and turned to ask, "What is it?"
"These mutated humans can reassemble themselves."
Xu Qian was taken aback. She bent down and picked up a severed arm, noticing that the cement inside was moving, clearly alive.
The body was slowly fusing back together.
She knew then that five-star missions wouldn't be that simple!
"Sister Qian! Help!!"
Lu Yang's face was pale. The moving cement on the ground was creeping up his legs, seeming to engulf him.
He desperately sprayed water from his palm, but the cement showed no reaction at all.
