With a thought, a dining table appeared in front of the car, laden with a gas stove and cookware.
As Xu Qian was selecting ingredients, she remembered the two people beside her and asked, "Do you two want to eat?"
The two nodded silently.
Normally, they ate simple meals, nothing more than coarse grains like corn or sweet potatoes, sometimes noodles or fried rice.
Regardless, Xu Lu was not picky and ate whatever he was given.
Xu Qian didn't intend to make anything complicated. With a slight thought, a few fresh tomatoes, eggs, and meat appeared on the table.
In a flurry of action, a pot of tomato, egg, and lean pork noodles was quickly prepared.
Almost half the pot was given to Xu Lu, with the remaining three each receiving a large bowl.
Xu Lu held the pot and began slurping with gusto.
The other two stared in bewilderment.
Xiong Yong'an, with quivering lips, asked, "Xu Lu, you're eating that much?"
Xu Lu looked up at them and grunted before continuing to eat.
Xu Qian, afraid they would overthink things, quickly urged, "Eat up, it won't be good if it gets cold."
Xiang Jin Tian lowered his gaze, his doubts not diminished in the slightest.
He had only heard Xu Qian mention a sister; this Xu Lu bore no resemblance to her, and Xu Lu's gaze towards them always maintained a wary alertness.
Not a welcoming look…
But rather the kind of possessiveness one had when fearing their meat would be snatched away.
"Beep beep beep."
The prompt from the communicator sounded.
Xiang Jin Tian picked it up and his expression immediately tensed.
"Qian Qian, we need to leave for City A immediately. We can't delay."
Seeing his uncharacteristic nervousness, Xu Qian had no objections.
After all, Xu Lu liked driving, fast and steady.
Besides, zombies got tired, and with an overnight journey, if there were no accidents, they could reach City A in a day and a night.
After discussing, the three decided that Xu Lu would drive, and the others would ride along.
With a thought, Xu Qian put away their military jeep, habitually got into the passenger seat, and let the other two sit in the back.
Xiang Jin Tian sighed. Even if the misunderstanding was cleared, the gap between them wouldn't close so quickly.
Xu Lu drove at breakneck speed, showing no fear of death.
Xiang Jin Tian had already prepared himself mentally, while Xiong Yong'an was so terrified his soul had flown out, and he immediately fumbled to fasten his seatbelt.
He asked in a trembling voice, "Little brother Xu, perhaps we could drive a bit slower?"
Xu Lu completely ignored him, driving as he pleased. During the journey, he only asked Xu Qian to tell stories, speaking no other words.
Early morning.
Xiang Jin Tian, seeing that he had been driving for most of the night, was worried he might be tired and said, "Xu Lu, let me drive."
Xu Lu of course remained silent. In truth, apart from Xu Qian, he didn't want to communicate with any human.
Xu Qian, half-asleep, heard this.
"No need, let him drive, he… he just likes driving."
Xiang Jin Tian glanced at him, his eyes narrowing.
Xu Lu, sensitive to the gaze, looked back.
His bright green eyes shone exceptionally in the darkness, a flash of ferocity passing through them.
Xiang Jin Tian's heart skipped a beat. He had seen countless Level Three zombies.
He was certain this was a Level Three, or even higher, zombie.
No wonder he wasn't tired after driving all day. So… Qian Qian had raised a zombie.
Xiang Jin Tian leaned back against the seat, closed his eyes, his thoughts in disarray.
He had never imagined he would ride in a car driven by a zombie.
Early morning.
Guangming Base.
A jeep sped towards the base gate and braked abruptly.
Everyone in the vehicle was jolted awake by the sudden stop.
Xu Qian opened her eyes; daylight had arrived.
The sky was as gloomy as ever.
"Xu Lu, I told you not to brake so suddenly!"
Xu Lu let out a pained groan, clutching his head and unable to utter a word.
Xu Qian frowned and touched his forehead.
"Xu Lu, what's wrong?"
