Xu Qian glanced at her watch. It was almost 2 o'clock.
"Gu Qing, find a safe place to park. Let's eat first."
"Okay."
Xu Qian took out six self-heating hot pots, tomato and beef flavor, from her spatial storage. She added water and ingredients, setting them aside to cook. Then, she brought out a portable gas stove and a frying pan, making an egg for each of them to accompany the hot pot.
Fifteen minutes later, a rich aroma filled the entire vehicle.
The vehicle gradually came to a halt.
Everyone received their portion and began to eat with relish.
After lunch, Xu Qian suggested a one-hour nap. They had been in the car for most of the day, either fighting zombies or traveling, so they must be tired.
Everyone was astonished. They could sleep during a mission?
Xu Qian smiled. "This mission doesn't have a time limit. Why make things difficult for ourselves? Sleep when you need to sleep, eat when you need to eat, drink when you need to drink. Treat it like a trip."
Everyone was touched. Their captain was truly amazing.
Finally, they played rock-paper-scissors to decide who would stay on guard while the others returned to their beds.
The two returned to the inner cabin, washed up, and lay down on the bed.
Mei Yuebai turned and held Xu Qian in his arms, asking softly, "What were you talking about just now?"
"Huh?" Talking about what?
"Those soldiers."
Xu Qian was slightly taken aback. She hadn't expected him to ask about that.
A silver handgun materialized in her hand. She raised it and said, "He asked where I found this gun."
Mei Yuebai's body stiffened. "And then?"
Xu Qian raised an eyebrow and returned the gun to her spatial storage.
"I told him the truth. I found the gun at B University."
Mei Yuebai visibly relaxed.
Xu Qian gave him a faint glance. "What's wrong? Do you know them?"
"Yes, old acquaintances. I didn't want them to recognize me."
Xu Qian's expression remained unchanged. She patted his back. "Let's sleep."
Judging by his expression, they knew each other far more than just acquaintances. But everyone had their secrets, and there was no need to pry and hurt their feelings.
Fifteen minutes later.
Mei Yuebai's entire body was pinned down. Xu Qian had one arm across his chest and one leg on his lower abdomen.
He smiled helplessly. She was probably the only girl with such a terrible sleeping posture that he could tolerate.
An hour later, Cheng Liangze's singing erupted.
"Wake up, wake up, wake up, hehe."
Everyone was jolted awake by the cacophony, and pillows flew towards him.
Half an hour later, they reached the city.
S City was a relatively poor area in G Province, ranking low in GDP. There weren't many tall buildings, mostly low-rise buildings no more than five stories high. Zombies roamed the streets. People wore simple clothes.
Ai Mei Zhi La was located in a factory in a small village, a separate warehouse from the factory.
The group got out of the vehicle and consciously began killing zombies.
Xu Qian, meanwhile, went to collect supplies. She opened the warehouse door. The warehouse was filled with boxes upon boxes of spicy strips, chili sauce, and dried chilies – anything related to chili.
With a thought, Xu Qian collected everything into her spatial storage. The warehouse wasn't large, and she finished quickly.
After collecting, she raised her Bastard sword and joined them in killing zombies. The zombies here were slower, as if the further north they went, the less intelligent the zombies became.
As dusk began to fall, Xu Qian instructed, "Let's find a place to settle down. We'll sleep here for the night."
Everyone agreed, but finding a place proved difficult. Hotels were swarming with zombies, and isolated houses were scarce.
The RV drove into a small village with many houses lining the road. They were about to randomly choose a large one.
Suddenly, an old woman by the roadside waved at them. She leaned on a walking stick, her back severely hunched. Her hair was white, her face dotted with age spots, and she looked at least eighty or ninety years old.
