Chapter 48 I Can't Save You Every Time

The crowd was in an uproar.

Although everyone had heard rumors about how powerful Xu Qian was, seeing her in person, they found it hard to believe. She was slender, fair-skinned, and looked like a girl not yet eighteen.

The kind who would cry upon seeing a zombie.

“You will all see how strong I am. I’ll go down to clear the buses below first. I’ll lead the way.”

No point in saying more if they didn't agree. Xu Qian turned to leave without another word.

A tall, slender young man leaned against her doorframe.

Mei Yue’s eyebrows rose slightly. “Where are you going?” He hadn’t expected her to be outside; he thought she was sleeping.

“I met with the Whirlwind Squad. Now I’m going to clear the zombies on the buses. We depart at noon.”

Xu Qian wasted no time, speaking as she walked.

“Oh~ I’ll go back to my room to get a bag.”

Xu Qian raised an eyebrow and looked at the bandage on his head. “You’re coming too?”

“It’s been fine for a long time. They were just worried.”

Mei Yue scratched his head.

“Then be careful. I can’t save you every time.”

“Worrying about me?” Mei Yue bent down, resting his chin on her shoulder, letting Xu Qian drag him along.

“No.”

“Stubborn mouth.”

The silver-haired youth had returned to his former self, arrogant and roguish.

It was as if the madness he had displayed had never happened. httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět

The two reached the second-floor stairwell. Looking down from the second floor, the steps were covered in thick blood and zombie remains. A strong stench of decay filled the stairwell, and countless zombies roamed.

“Pull yourself together.”

Xu Qian glanced at him, her gaze calm.

She opened the door, and the zombies loitering in the stairwell lunged at them. Before she could make a move, Mei Yue leaped forward, swiftly dispatching the zombies in the stairwell with his military knife.

Mei Yue looked back, raising his eyebrows as if to say, ‘See how capable I am?’

Xu Qian shook her head helplessly. She walked leisurely behind him, while Mei Yue diligently fought zombies in front. Protected by her Peace buckle, Rank 1 zombies couldn’t get close to her at all.

Looking at the piles of zombie corpses on the ground, she recalled the Rank 2 zombie she had killed the day before and wondered if its head was still there.

She scouted the area and finally found the head amidst a pile of zombie corpses.

She put on her gloves, dug out the crystal core, and absorbed it instantly.

The energy of the crystal core filled her limbs and consciousness. As the energy circulated, Xu Qian felt her mental power become more solidified.

She gave a slight smile, expanding her mental power. It now covered an area of about half a basketball court.

It seemed she needed to collect more Rank 2 crystal cores to quickly upgrade her ability to Rank 2. Relying solely on items was too passive.

“Sister Xi, help!”

Mei Yue was in the middle of a zombie-slaughtering spree when a group of zombies suddenly appeared, moving faster than normal ones, and headed towards him.

She looked over, seeing five zombies dressed in basketball uniforms marching towards her, each tall, burly, and muscular.

“Deal with it yourself.”

He watched the string of zombies run past her, as if they didn’t see her, showing no intention of attacking her.

Mei Yue was filled with confusion, but decided to deal with these five behemoths first.

His dark eyes narrowed. He extended his palm, and a string of electricity surged from him, completely charring the five zombies, leaving them twitching on the ground.

Xu Qian raised an eyebrow. Lightning abilities were among the most powerful. He still had the energy to kill zombies and extract crystal cores. It seemed he didn’t need to worry about him.
