Entry into the base required a card, and not everyone had one.
Her reaction was swift; she directly stole a card from a high-ranking man in black.
Xu Qian shot her a helpless glance and took the card.
"You can't take risks next time, understand? Follow instructions."
Jie Yayun grinned. "Yes!"
Xu Qian sighed. While they were capable, they were too impulsive.
The people from X Group were inhumane; if they were caught, they wouldn't get away without being stripped raw.
"Let's go, we'll scout inside first."
"Okay."
R Base.
"Young Master Lian, Young Master Lian, we've caught a suspicious woman! She must be Xu Qian's accomplice!"
Lian Du turned around upon hearing this. "What's going on?"
The subordinate patiently explained, "As you predicted, Young Master Lian, we reinforced the base's defenses. We detected two individuals immediately. We managed to catch one, and another is currently being pursued. I brought this one back first."
Lian Du narrowed his eyes slightly. "Was the one who escaped Xu Qian?"
The subordinate shook his head. "They were both wearing masks, so we couldn't see clearly."
"Where is she locked up?"
"Young Master Lian, I'll take you."
The two of them wove through various corridors and descended into a subterranean prison. The lighting was dim, water dripped down the walls, and it was unusually damp.
The woman was confined in a cage, yet she showed no signs of panic.
She lifted her gaze to the man before her, a flicker of astonishment crossing her eyes.
The man wore a simple black shirt, camouflage pants, and short boots. He was tall and robust, with a solid physique, his abdominal and chest muscles subtly visible beneath his clothing, exuding overwhelming masculinity.
His hair was cut short and fell lazily across his forehead. His face was exceptionally manly.
His eyes were slightly narrowed, with the corners subtly upturned – typical fox eyes. His nose was prominent, his lips thin, and his features were sharply defined.
He looked like a male fox spirit from ancient times.
Lian Du paid no mind to her thoughts. He asked directly, "Where is Xu Qian?"
Yi Chun's entire body jolted as she snapped back to reality.
She lowered her eyes, concealing the emotions within, and whispered, "I don't know where she is. I came out looking for her."
Lian Du narrowed his eyes, scanning her from head to toe.
He had interrogated no less than a thousand people; he could tell at a glance who was lying and who was telling the truth.
"Hang her upside down. She can stay that way until she tells the truth."
Yi Chun's eyes widened. Her appearance was rather delicate; in the past, even when captured, men had mostly tried to coax her. She hadn't expected this man to be so ruthless.
Lian Du sat on a wooden chair directly opposite the cage, chewing on a cigarette. The subordinate beside him lit it smartly.
Smoke curled around, and the faint scent of tobacco assailed the nostrils.
"Hang her."
Yi Chun, of course, wouldn't be so foolish. The most important thing now was to distance herself from the strategist. By now, the strategist should have infiltrated.
This man seemed to be in charge of the base. If she could stall for time, it would give the strategist an opportunity...
Suddenly, the woman's eyes reddened, and she began to sob.
The men in black, who were about to seize her, found themselves unable to move at the sight of her tear-streaked face.
"I-I really just came to catch Xu Qian. I followed her here, and somehow, I lost her."
"Why did you capture me!"
Lian Du closed his eyes slightly and exhaled a puff of smoke. "Do you think I'm talking nonsense?! Hang her!"
"Yes!"
Yi Chun finally felt a touch of panic. She hadn't expected them to be serious.
She couldn't reveal any information about Xu Qian. She could only be hung while crying, hoping to delay them for as long as possible.
She was a strength-type ability user, so she could endure.
Lian Du's temples throbbed with irritation from her crying. He stood up and instructed, "Proceed with the interrogation according to normal procedure. If she doesn't confess, beat her until she does."
