Lian Du's heart skipped a beat. He looked up at her, his voice a low growl, "Xu Qian! I don't want to hurt you!"
His voice was muffled, tinged with a hint of sorrow.
Xu Qian glanced at him dismissively. With a slight movement of her wrist, she raised the combat knife.
The surrounding crowd looked panicked.
"Young Master Lian!"
"Kill her!"
The tip of the blade was pointed directly at his chest, mere inches away from piercing him.
Lian Du's fox-like eyes narrowed. He raised his hand slightly, and an immediate silence fell.
"Xu Qian, do you really want to kill me?"
His expression was languid. He shifted his feet slightly, as if still wanting to step closer.
Lian Du knew Xu Qian treated him differently. Otherwise, she would have killed him outright on that helicopter, not given him a chance to survive.
Xu Qian's grip on the knife handle tightened, a flicker of helplessness in her eyes.
Lian Du was crazy, but was someone this crazy still considered normal?
Xu Qian pondered for a moment before saying, "Let me go. Come find me in half an hour. If you can find me, I'll go back with you willingly. How about it?"
Since Lian Du liked her, it would be best to escape using him with minimal losses.
Entering her spatial dimension cost points. If she had wanted to enter, she would have done so the moment he attacked.
Lian Du froze, surprised by her request.
The man pressed his temple with his hand, clearly conflicted.
He didn't want to hurt her, but he wanted her to return with him willingly.
This was difficult.
Lian Du's gaze deepened, unfathomable. After a moment of thought, he said, "Alright."
He glanced at his watch. "It's ten o'clock now. I'll find you at ten-thirty."
This stunned Xu Qian. She hadn't expected him to agree to her casual suggestion.
He knew she could turn invisible. If she deliberately avoided him, she could run very far in half an hour.
He really wouldn't be able to find her.
For the first time, Xu Qian seriously observed the man before her.
He was still wearing his ever-present black shirt, camouflage pants, and short boots. His proud expression made him undeniably handsome.
Xu Qian couldn't help but ask, "Lian Du, why do you like me?"
Lian Du's dark eyes flickered. He replied softly, "Perhaps, because you're good-looking."
Xu Qian didn't believe this reason. A man like him must have encountered many women; it was unlikely to be just because she was pretty.
"Enough! If you say anything more, I'll capture you directly and won't let you run."
The man turned and ordered, "Cease fire!"
Everyone was bewildered. Why were they suddenly told to stop firing?
Weren't they supposed to capture her?
Only a few who overheard the conversation understood what was happening.
Ultimately, the men obeyed and lowered their weapons. They were all Lian Du's direct subordinates and naturally followed his orders.
Xu Qian watched Lian Du's retreating back, her heart a complex mix of emotions.
She called out softly, "Lian Du!"
"What?"
Lian Du didn't turn back. He was afraid he would lose control and force her into the car.
"Here."
Xu Qian casually tossed an object in her hand, then turned and got back into the car.
The crowd stood frozen, not attempting to stop her.
Lian Du caught it. He looked at the rooster on the wrapping paper, momentarily stunned.
A token of affection?
Xu Qian lowered the car window slightly, her voice softening. "Lian Du, may we meet again."
Lian Du lowered his eyes and smiled. His usually fierce and imposing handsome face rarely showed such warmth.
The surrounding subordinates were so scared they dared not speak.
"See you in half an hour. Clear the way!"
The men in black obediently parted to the sides, and the RV sped through the passage.
Lian Du unwrapped the chicken. Inside was still steaming chicken meat, fragrant and delicious.
He opened his mouth to take a bite, but hesitated, reluctant. He carefully rewrapped the chicken.
He would wait to eat it after he found her!
The subordinates were perplexed by their young master's actions.
Was Young Master Lian finally showing affection? And to someone who had blown up their base?
The subordinates were a little scared, but for the sake of their young master's reputation, he trembled and asked, "Young Master Lian, you're just going to let her go?"
Lian Du glanced at him indifferently. "What else?"
