Chapter 404 - 380: Leng Yan, Come Out!

Chapter 404: Chapter 380: Leng Yan, Come Out!

The secretary had just put down the phone when another call for Leng Yan came through, this time from a woman whose voice was much softer than the angry girl’s from before.

"Tell him my last name is Ji, and he will take the call."

Ji Wei clutched the receiver tightly, trying to keep her voice calm and gentle, but her other hand had already formed an angry fist.

After she threw the report at him, Sister Ping stopped taking care of her meals, and Leng Yan, even more ruthlessly, refused to answer any of her calls.

In a fit of rage, she had no choice but to call the company this time. If he dared not to answer, she would just keep calling; she didn’t believe Leng Yan could let her keep ringing without getting annoyed.

"Sorry, Ms. Ji, the Second Young Master has gone on a business trip to the UK; he should already be at the airport now," the secretary gently informed her, followed by a sudden blast in her ear. Ji Wei could no longer maintain her gentleness and growled, "Airport? He’s going to the UK?" before slamming down the phone and shouting toward the door, "Xiao Liu!"

"Sister Ji?"

Xiao Liu was in the next room packing clothes for Ji Wei. Hearing her call, she rubbed her forehead hard, sighed deeply, and ran over, "Sister Ji, what’s wrong again?"

She found herself unconsciously adding the word "again" every time she spoke because Ji Wei seemed to be constantly angry and upset all day long.

People feel ashamed when they accept favors and unworthy when taking handouts. Ji Wei had doubled her salary, and with her brother at home about to get married and needing to buy a house, she couldn’t afford to leave. But her mood only got worse by the day, and she sometimes feared she might end up mentally disturbed from Ji Wei’s torment.

"He’s gone to the UK," Ji Wei told Xiao Liu as she entered, and with a blink, tears unexpectedly fell from her eyes, her pale face filled with desolation, "He’s completely given up on me."

"What are you going to do?" Xiao Liu glanced at her stomach and shook her head, "Sister Ji, you’ve gone too far with this. The child isn’t truly Leng Shao’s, yet you keep claiming it is to deceive him. How could he not be angry?"

In truth, she despised such a person, yet she had been complicit with her for so long.

"Is it okay if I don’t have the child? He’s completely broken up with Wen Nuan, and I know it’s because he loves Wen Nuan, and he doesn’t love me, but he will be lonely and want someone by his side, right?"

She looked down at her abdomen, wiped away the tears, and dialed the number multiple times on her phone before getting it right.

Getting out of the car and heading towards the terminal, Leng Yan looked at the string of numbers that made him sick, hung up, and she called again. Finally fed up, he curled his lips into a sarcastic smile, his voice cold and biting as northern ice: "Ji Wei, is this fun for you?"

"Leng Yan."

It had been days, and this was the first time he answered her call. Hearing his voice coming through the phone, Ji Wei’s face was flooded with tears, "You’re at the airport?"

"Yes," Leng Yan grunted slightly, "I have things to do."

With that, he was about to hang up.

Ji Wei cried even harder, "Wait, Yan, I know why you’re leaving, you don’t want Wen Nuan to find out about this, right?"

Leng Yan’s heart tightened: "You know?"

"I..." Ji Wei softly confessed, "I overheard your call. I also know that you’re currently very vulnerable, let me stay with you, okay? As for the child, since you don’t believe it’s yours, I’ll get rid of it, will that do?"

As long as she could temporarily keep him, she couldn’t be treated like this by him, she couldn’t lose so completely that she wouldn’t even have the chance to act in the future.

Leng Yan shook his head slightly, his tone filled with satire, "Ji Wei, don’t waste your efforts."

"Aren’t you afraid that I’ll tell Wen Nuan about this?" Ji Wei gritted her teeth, threatening him.

"Ha!" Leng Yan’s face remained impassive, the mockery at the corners of his mouth deepened, his handsome peach-blossom eyes closed gently, his heart ached painfully, not because of Ji Wei’s threat, but because of that name. Whenever he heard it, even his breathing would hurt.

After a while, he opened his eyes and said resolutely, "Ji Wei, you won’t!"

"Why?" Ji Wei’s lips quivered slightly, "Perhaps I will."

"You won’t!" Leng Yan repeated, and he smiled lightly, a smile full of desolation, "Do I still need to explain why?"

Ji Wei fell into complete silence, the receiver hung weakly in her hand, clattering against the desk, as a bitter smile formed at the corners of her mouth.

Yes, she wouldn’t. If she told Wen Nuan, Wen Nuan would go to him. Having been in contact for so long, she knew how deep Wen Nuan’s love for him was; she wouldn’t abandon him but would rather be more determined to be with him.

She couldn’t get him, and she wouldn’t let Wen Nuan have him either!

But she was unwilling to accept it. Why should Wen Nuan be able to have such sincere love from him? Why, three years later, when she returned, he had achieved fame and success but had fallen in love with another girl?

He had said he would only love her and promised to give her the best life in the future!

Yet, the one he gave it to was not her, but Wen Nuan!

Grabbing the pillow from the bed, she threw it harshly onto the floor, and with a sweep of her hand, the cosmetics on the dressing table fell to the ground, shattering all around.

Ji Wei trembled all over, looking at the mess, she laughed foolishly, realizing she was about to lose everything...

**

Listening to the sounds from the other side, the mocking expression on Leng Yan’s lips gradually disappeared, and he put the phone back in his pocket, looking back at the entrance with a slight lift of his lips.

A faint smile, enveloped in deep sorrow.

His Nuannuan wouldn’t know the truth and thus wouldn’t be too heartbroken for him. She would hate him and start noticing the good in others.

She would gradually forget about him...

He was really sad, wishing she would remember him for the rest of her life.

Yet, he couldn’t be so selfish.

It was almost time, and looking around, everyone else was ready to depart at any moment. But his heart was hesitating, as if his steps were locked in place.

He couldn’t bear to leave, couldn’t bear to part with her...

"Driver, no need to find change!"

Wen Nuan took money out of her bag, threw it down, quickly opened the car door, and ran towards the terminal.

Standing there, listening to the announcements looping over and over, her eyes anxiously searched for his figure. Whenever she saw a back that slightly resembled his, she would rush over and then apologize in disappointment to the person.

Watching more and more people head towards the security checkpoint, her heart sank bit by bit. She took a deep breath and finally couldn’t help but shout with all her might, "Leng Yan, come out!"

Leng Yan, come out!

Come out!

Come out!

The clear, furious voice echoed in everyone’s eardrums, crashing heavy in his, like a sledgehammer. Leng Yan turned around, looking at her thin and solitary figure standing helplessly in the hall, his heart jolted intensely, he quickly stood up and grabbed his luggage.

He vaguely sensed that what he did to the Wen Family had already been known to her, so no matter how reluctant, he had to leave swiftly.

Wen Nuan wiped away her flowing tears, looking at the security checkpoint, her eyes suddenly lit up, and she started to run, calling out to the tall, slender figure as she went.
