Chapter 70: Chapter 70 Mr. Qin’s True Sense of Humor
It didn’t take long for him to arrange meetings with these agents to view houses.
"I hope I can buy a house smoothly this time," Qin Mu muttered to himself, stretching lazily.
He had sold his original house and was now living in a nursing home. Normally, it was fine. But on Saturdays and Sundays, when the elderly occasionally took holidays to reunite with their children, he felt he needed a place to rest and have some privacy.
The locations he had chosen were actually quite good. The total price was also kept around three million. The layout, surrounding environment, and neighborhood security were all quite satisfactory.
「The next day.」
He took a day off from the nursing home, hoping to finalize the house purchase as soon as possible. According to the appointments he had made on the app yesterday, two agents were to show him houses in the morning, and three in the afternoon. These agents all had different listings, exclusive to their agencies, so he had to see them in batches.
However, he never would have imagined that after taking a whole day off, he wouldn’t get to see a single house. After meeting him, all the agents inexplicably shuddered, their expressions extremely unnatural. Then, citing all kinds of outrageous reasons, they fled. Some claimed they had forgotten to turn off their stove at home; some said their girlfriends wanted to break up; others reported their wives were in difficult labor, and the doctor was asking whether to save the mother or the child.
All in all, this resulted in him not seeing a single house the entire day.
"These agents are too unprofessional, aren’t they? They seem even less reliable than Lin Zhen," Qin Mu said, shaking his head with a bitter smile, utterly speechless.
What in the world—save the mother or the child?! The law clearly states that choosing to save only the child is illegal!
「In the evening, he returned to the nursing home, utterly bewildered.」
When he returned, Zhang Qingyuan and the others gathered around. "Xiao Qin, how did the house viewing go?" they asked with great concern. "Once you buy it, you must invite us over to your place."
Qin Mu’s mouth twitched as he recounted the day’s events.
Old Zhang and the other two were collectively petrified. Even with their sixty to seventy years of experience, they had never heard of such outrageous incidents.
After pondering for a moment, Zhang Qingyuan offered a suggestion. "Ahem, there’s a saying: you can run from the monk, but not from the temple. I think you could go directly to their offices and have them show you the houses."
Qin Mu replied, "...I’ll try again tomorrow."
Later, still not giving up, he logged into a certain Shell app, intending to find a few more agents to show him houses. But this time, his newly registered account appeared to have been blacklisted again. Messages he sent out vanished without a trace, just like with his previous account.
With no other options, he decided he could only try visiting the agencies in person the next day.
「Meanwhile.」
Because of Qin Mu’s house-hunting efforts, the Jin City real estate agent community was rife with undercurrents. When the owners of those shady real estate companies caught wind of the situation, they convened meetings overnight. They publicly disclosed the two Qin Mu accounts they had found in their internal agent groups and instructed all sales agents to exercise extreme caution when responding to client messages, and to absolutely avoid any further involvement with Qin Mu.
With Qin Mu’s notorious "track record" plain to see, they didn’t want to end up like Secure Home, whose entire staff had been incarcerated.
During the meetings, some agents raised the question of what to do if Qin Mu came directly to their offices. After much brainstorming, these various shady real estate companies reached a unanimous decision: if Qin Mu came to their office, they would follow standard procedures to help him buy a house as quickly as possible, hoping to bring an end to this period of constant anxiety.
「The next day.」
To resolve his housing issue as soon as possible, Qin Mu took another day off. He went directly to a real estate agency office near the nursing home. This agency had opened more than ten branches in Jin City.
When he entered, he clearly sensed all the agents in the office freeze for a moment, apparently startled by his arrival. The atmosphere instantly became very strange.
"Hello, I’d like to buy a house nearby. Is there anyone who can show me some options?" Qin Mu asked, addressing several agents in the office.
Immediately, the five agents in the office hurriedly retreated into an internal meeting room, apparently to discuss something important.
「Three minutes later,」
The meeting room door opened, and a middle-aged agent in his forties approached him. His expression was somewhat tense, making Qin Mu feel as if the agent were about to offer himself up to a tiger.
"Um... may I ask which properties you’re interested in seeing?" the agent stammered.
Qin Mu cast a puzzled glance at him and repeated his requirements. To his surprise, the agent was very cooperative and immediately said, "We have two properties listed for sale with our company. Xiao Wang, go get the keys."
Before long, two sets of keys were handed to Qin Mu. The agent then said eagerly, "Mr. Qin, we can go and view the properties now."
Qin Mu was somewhat surprised. "You know my surname is Qin?"
The agent gave a wry smile. "Mr. Qin, your notoriety is probably known to everyone in Jin City’s real estate circles by now."
Qin Mu was taken aback, his expression somewhat bemused.
By now, he could probably guess why his account had been blacklisted. These were likely the lingering effects of him having sent the entire Secure Home company packing.
Looking at the somewhat nervous agent before him, he said with a smile, "People in your field might have some misconceptions about me. If you got to know me better, you’d find I’m quite easy to talk to."
The agent’s mouth twitched. "..."
The agent didn’t believe a single word Qin Mu said. During this time, their real estate circles had specifically investigated Qin Mu’s past. His content creator account on a certain video platform had also been circulated among many in their internal agent chat groups. After watching those videos, the real estate community became even more determined to avoid Qin Mu at all costs. He had been responsible for five groups of people being locked up in just one month—how could anyone call that ’easy to talk to’?
"Ahem, Mr. Qin, you’re very humorous. Shall we go view the houses now?" the agent said, clearing his throat twice and quickly changing the subject. He then led Qin Mu out of the office.
「Two days later,」
With the "enthusiastic" help of the agent, Qin Mu viewed ten properties with terrifying efficiency. He chose the one he liked best and decided to proceed with the purchase.
When the agent heard he was ready to close the deal, he seemed even happier than Qin Mu. He immediately contacted the property owner in Qin Mu’s presence and even took the initiative to negotiate the price, successfully reducing the original 3.2 million asking price by 100,000.
Eventually, the owner agreed to sell for 3.1 million. Taxes such as deed tax, land tax, personal income tax, and value-added tax would be calculated separately.
"Mr. Qin, it’s all set!" the agent exclaimed after finalizing the transaction. He looked at Qin Mu again and said impatiently, "I don’t know if you’re free tonight, but to avoid any... ahem, unforeseen complications... or rather, to get you the house as soon as possible, the owner said we could sign the contract this evening. Then, you could go to the housing authority tomorrow to transfer ownership."
Qin Mu looked at the agent, who seemed even more eager than himself, his lips twitching slightly.
Anyone who didn’t know better might think the agent was the one in a hurry to buy a house.
