Chapter 67: Chapter Sixty-seven: Damien’s Story VII: Why can’t I?

Alexandria hurled himself from very the small hill with his sword gripped firmly in his right hand. The kingdom beyond the desert was still very far away and since the damned beasts were moving towards them, it meant they hadn’t gotten to the kingdom yet.

As he ran, he tried his very best to avoid the creatures streaming in straight lines towards the other side of the hill. They were like mindless beings without a mind of their own, controlled telepathically by another supreme being. Alexandria continued creeping beside them. He figured it was best to observe them from a distance but that wasn’t possible when there were two long lines of those things on either side of him all streaming to the same location.

He walked slowly, occasionally glancing at both sides to check. He was still going when suddenly, a dry breeze blew itself across the desert...and the creatures stopped moving.

The all stood still and swiftly turned to the center,half crouching like a tiger about to tear its prey.

Alexandria froze in place as one of the creatures took a step towards him.

Then another. Then another. Until it was right in front of him face to face. The king still didn’t move as the bony, horrifying face moved closer to his. He summoned courage and looked it straight in the face. To his surprise, the hollow spot carved out for eyes was empty.

They were blind?! What?! Then how...? Alexandria couldn’t finish his thought before the creature grunted again.

Could they...smell him? That was the only reasonable idea he could come up with for the situation. If they were blind, then it just confirmed his theory on them. Someone was producing them...but who?

Alexandria stilled, ceasing his breath. They couldn’t see, but they could smell and that was their driving force. He reached for a small bottle in his pocket and crushed it in his palm. A stale, strong scent enveloped his nose, almost causing him to cough because of it. But he held it all in. He didn’t think he could handle them if those creatures broke loose.

Thankfully, the creature back down, got back to its line and they all continued their robotic marching to where the others were.

"I have to hurry. I don’t think they can hold on for so long." he said sharply. Alexandria rubbed his hand all over his neck and clothes, cleaning the crushed glass on his body.

He had wanted to give it to his men to use, but the timing hadn’t been perfect. Thank goodness he didn’t though. This time, he gained speed. He raced through the line of creatures with momentum, dashing and slicing through the air. He didn’t know who long he had been running but he just kept on running and running and running.

It was endless.

The borders were incredibly vast and devoid of any major development. That’s because trade in those days, usually happen by sea as the desert sun was too unbearable for the products.

Alexandria had been running for almost half an hour when he finally saw a building looking like a small hut in the distance. He breathed heavily, gripping his sword tightly in his hand again before dashing towards it. If this was the manufacturing house, it wouldn’t live to see another sun.

Alexandria got closer and closer to it, determination flaring up his veins. He had been monitoring this situation for over a year now and wanted to get to the bottom of it by all means. He finally reached it.

Nothing could have prepared him for what met his eyes next.

Standing right before front of him in the middle of nowhere in the desert was a tall, towering ancient pyramid with a huge carving of the fore finger plastered on the front. This wasn’t an ordinary pyramid, it was a superstructure. An edifice.

"No way in hell..." Alexandria muttered, completely blown away by what he saw. He had expected a factory at the very least. But a pyramid? In the desert? Sitting in the middle of nowhere?

Despite the massive structure looming over him in that forlon desert, anxiety never crossed his eyes even once. Everywhere was dark, save for the moonlight but it still didn’t drop even an ounce of fear in him.

Alexandria had something to protect and he would sure go through hell and back to safeguard it.

He was about to take another step when he noticed something else. The creatures had stopped coming. But when? He had been so busy running at maximum speed that be didn’t realize that the number was dwindling. He had only taken a step forward when the ancient massive stone wall forming the door, moved to the side and a stream of those creatures marched out in two lines. Horror that didn’t reach the eyes pulsed inside him. The sight was truly fearful to behold.

Alexandria decided to wait till that batch was already dispatched before taking another move. But it was endless. And when it seemed to not stop anytime soon, it didn’t take long for anxiety to set in. His mind flashed back to his men who were still fighting. With this amount of beasts not giving them a breather even for a minute, he wondered how long they’d be able to last. He just hoped it wouldn’t be too late when he finally returns to them again.

Thankfully, the last two creatures walked out the door. Alexandria immediately seized the opportunity and raced in-between them, darting into the massive structure before the stone wall shut itself again. Once inside, the wall behind him vibrated for a minute before sliding shut sharply against the wall. He was inside now.

"I see you found me quite early." a voice dipped in sarcasm reverberated in the musty air.

Alexandria looked around him, putting his vampiric, sharp eyes to use but still couldn’t find the owner of the voice.

Suddenly, a figure bolted upstairs with the speed of light but his sharp eyes was still able to pick it up. Resolution and willpower glared in his eyes as he approached the open staircase.

He had only taken two steps up when the same figure dashed straight at him from behind. Without turning to see it, Alexandria swung his sword through it from his side, piercing a good amount of flesh with it.

By the time he turned around to see who had attacked him, he stumbled back in horror at what his eyes saw for the first time.

Mirenelle...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Get away from me this instant! Let me go!" Mira cried out, drowsily trying to pry her hand from the strange man’s grip. Her captor, had teleported them to a spacious, luxurious, candlelit room.
"Stop resisting dear." the man drawled out, cupping her cheek in his palm. But Mira wasn’t having that. She opened her mouth wide and took a deep bite of the man’s hand.
"Aggrh!" he yelled out in pain as he nursed his hand by running his other fingers over it. "You stupid whore!" he growled at her, landing a tight slap on her face. Mira struck the wall and landed on the floor in a heap.
The man grabbed her hair hard and pulled her by it to the bed that had two lamps lit on either side. He flung her on it and joined her immediately, hovering over her small figure. Mira wrestled desperately to free herself but it seemed the more she fought it, the more weaker she became.
It was at that moment her eyes eventually got the face of her attacker. It was no one else but that damned king. "How...how dare you. You won’t get away with this." Mira breathed out heavily.
"I just want to have a taste of you darling. You look too delicious to be enjoyed by that crazed maniac alone. I’ve tried so many times to have a private meeting with you but I’ve always failed...till now..."
"You poisoned my drinks?"
Xeranthis reached out for her cheek he had just slapped. "Yes my love."
Mira weekly brushed it away with her arm. "Buzz off your demon. I won’t let you touch my body."
Xeranthis grinned wickedly. "We’ll see about that."
He took her hands and pinned them over her head, tying them to the front of the bedframe.
"No! No! Noo!" Mira screamed out, thrashing wildly under him. She tried to free herself but the rope only tightened on her wrist the more. Xeranthis jumped down from the bed and started to undress speedily. Under a few seconds, he stood stark naked in front of her.
Slowly, he climbed the bed again, caging her legs with his knees. "You’ll love me darling...I promise you that."
He grabbed her dress and flung it over her legs, revealing her two milky thighs. Xeranthis gulped loudly at the sight. "You truly are beautiful. I can’t believe that crazed maniac enjoys all this whenever he wants."
Without wasting another second, his hand moved to where her lacy underwear was and started to undo the tie. In a few moves, both ends came off and he yanked it away.
Now having her in full view, he inched closer to her slowly, grabbed his member and made to push it into her. He rubbed it lightly on the opening, feeling anticipation rise inside him. In an instant, he pushed himself fully inside her, screaming in ecstasy as she squeezed him tightly.
