Chapter 43: Departure

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Departure

A day passed quickly.

The Brotherhood fully received the legacy from the Freelancers, and this place will exist as one of their outposts, with Pasha as its head.

Pasha informed Su Ziyu of this news the next day.

She seemed to have been convinced by old Bill to join the Brotherhood and become the future head of Polaris. Such a large camp couldn’t be simply abandoned, and Pasha, being a high-ranking member of the Freelancers, could smoothly take over Polaris.

When sharing the second piece of news, Pasha’s expression showed a slight hesitation.

She was ready to undergo bionic human modification, as the Brotherhood already had some technology in this field. With the newly acquired data from the Southern Cross’s underground lab, they could now conduct a more comprehensive bionic modification plan on humans.

Pasha was different from Su Ziyu, who came from the shelter.

She was born in the Wasteland Era after the Catastrophe Day, exposed to a large amount of radiation pollution since childhood, and probably started using antiradiation medicine at the age of two or three. Later, she joined the Freelancers and frequently ventured into dangerous areas, with her radiation pollution index exceeding 30% many times.

Although these radiation pollution indexes were later eliminated with antiradiation potions, her internal pollution value had accumulated for nearly twenty years.

This means she was very likely a potential pollution body.

Pasha’s use of antiradiation potions almost equated to the total amount a normal person in their thirties would use, and having seen the experimental data from Southern Cross, she couldn’t accept becoming one of those horrifying radiation-mutated monsters.

Fortunately, Pasha was still young, and her internal pollution value wasn’t yet sufficient to cause flesh mutation. Thus, she wanted to undergo bionic human modification now.

Pollution values exist within human flesh.

Replacing with bionic organs can reduce the chances of radiation mutation and significantly delay the potential for radiation decay in one’s body.

Once the body becomes old and weak, the success rate of bionic human modification greatly decreases.

Regarding this.

Su Ziyu didn’t say much but simply offered his blessings.

This was Pasha’s choice.

He had about ten days left before he had to leave this world, and whether he could return was uncertain. Although the Hourglass of Time would record plane coordinates, he didn’t have the authority or ability to control it now. Pasha would still have to survive in this radiation-filled world for a long time, and people making choices for survival is understandable.

Zoe secretly ran away the next night.

Su Ziyu and Pasha didn’t know when she left. This woman drove away in an armored vehicle and took the silver-white bionic arm with her.

Neither of them was angry.

No gathering lasts forever, and being able to part on good terms in this wasteland era is a decent fate. At least Zoe hadn’t caused them any trouble and had helped them a lot since they met, although her identity remained a mystery. Even Pasha couldn’t figure out which faction she belonged to.

Ordinary people generally wouldn’t have the resources to learn advanced computer technology.

Bang bang bang!

In the days that followed, Su Ziyu lived rather leisurely. Most of the Brotherhood members had left and were focused on researching the Bionic Human Plan’s data. Leon also departed on the third day, seemingly tasked with a new mission requiring him to visit a gathering place along the coast.

It was said that someone there had discovered the remnants of a bygone-era aircraft carrier with something valuable found on it.

Su Ziyu didn’t ask, and even if he did, Leon might not divulge any details.

Some scavengers returned to Polaris, with old Bill becoming one of its agents, while Pasha managed the military camp within the high walls, and old Bill took over everything outside.

Su Ziyu was indifferent to these power changes.

Both the Brotherhood and Pasha expressed their willingness to prepare a territory for him anytime, with weapons, manpower, and resources all available. However, Su Ziyu politely declined these offers. He candidly admitted that he hadn’t fully adapted to this era and might want to explore for a while.

Of course, that was merely an excuse for leaving when the time came.

Pasha seemed a little saddened upon hearing this, but she did not insist. After experiencing so much, she had matured significantly.

Su Ziyu’s routine became much calmer.

Every day involved practicing gun techniques, driving around, and learning to maneuver in exoskeleton power armor, which was unsuitable for taking along, as he felt very cumbersome wearing it. Furthermore, the micro nuclear battery only supported it for about twelve hours.

During this time, he helped Pasha clear some wandering Corpse Ghosts nearby. The combat difficulty was far easier than initially anticipated, and he completed it effortlessly.

However, he did not acquire any Source Power Value.

The time remaining with the Hourglass of Time was dwindling. Su Ziyu acquired a new ability, ’Driving Mastery LV0,’ yet retained those 8 points of Source Power Value because he didn’t know what the next world would entail, preferring to decide his enhancement path after entering it.

Whether to enhance survival ability or combat ability.

These need to be assessed in due time.

On the last day of the countdown, Su Ziyu bid farewell to Pasha. That evening, Pasha invited him to drink like old friends, and by the end, Su Ziyu was a bit tipsy. The next day, they embraced each other like friends to say goodbye, with Su Ziyu driving off into the desolate wilderness alone, while Pasha prepared to undergo bionic human modification.

This is the Wasteland Era.

This is a barbaric yet hopeless era.

Su Ziyu’s figure ultimately disappeared into the boundless wilderness, leaving behind a solitary armored vehicle. No one knew where he went, nor whether he would return.

Only a file remained in the Brotherhood’s confidential documents.

"Name: Su Ziyu."
