Chapter 19 The Tale of Nonsense

"I have to tell you anyway," Wen Zhiyan explained. "If you're not willing, I'll call Dad and tell him."

"No, no, I can go back."

"Thank you."

The two looked at each other in silence.

"You're awake. Are you okay?" Wen Yan'an's eyes lit up with joy when he saw Fang Miaomiao, who was now awake. "Does anything hurt?"

Looking at his worried gaze, Fang Miaomiao felt a warmth in her heart and shook her head at Wen Yan'an. "Don't mind my bandaged hand, I'm full of energy."

This was indeed the truth. Ever since she transmigrated into the book, she had always felt sleepy, a persistent feeling of not being able to wake up.

But after waking up this time, she felt much more alert and spirited.

Wen Yan'an also sensed her energy and pursed his lips. "Are you hungry?"

Well, it was better not to ask, but now that he asked, the hunger surged through her.

"Sir, I brought the food."

"Mmm, you may go."

After Xin Xuan came, put down the insulated lunchbox, and left, an awkward atmosphere filled the ward.

"Dad, her hand is bandaged, she can't eat porridge," Wen Yan'an stated a fact.

If only he were a little older, he could feed her, couldn't he?

If he had known this would happen, he wouldn't have been so picky about food before.

"No, no," Fang Miaomiao exclaimed, startled, almost rolling off the hospital bed. "I can do it myself."

What a joke! Let the chairman of Wen Corporation, Wen Anlan's paternal uncle, feed her?

Did she still want to live? She didn't deserve it.

"Dad."

Receiving Wen Yan'an's pleading gaze, Wen Zhiyan's eyebrows lifted slightly. Interesting, this woman could make An'an plead with him.

It was An'an's first time pleading with him for something, so it wouldn't be right not to do it.

"No, really, it's not necessary."

Seeing Wen Zhiyan getting closer, Fang Miaomiao could only cry without tears. Heaven and Earth, what were you doing? Facing a handsome man, she couldn't help herself.

Wen Zhiyan's movements were quick, yet they appeared pleasing to the eye.

Especially those well-defined, strong-looking hands.

Help!

Be dignified, be dignified!

She had to be dignified. She was the greatest actress; what hadn't she seen?

Help!

She was rambling incoherently and didn't know what to say.

"Try it, Lin Ma's cooking is quite good."

"Ah?" Fang Miaomiao snapped back to attention awkwardly and looked down at the spoon. Should she really eat it?

"It's not hot."

"Ah, thank you." Fang Miaomiao had no choice but to grit her teeth and open her mouth to eat the food Wen Zhiyan offered.

"Hmph." Wen Yan'an, standing aside, snorted and started eating his own food from the insulated lunchbox.

He had to eat more and grow taller, then he could feed her. Don't think he was naive; if he hadn't spoken up, his father wouldn't have offered to feed her.

The lunch ended with this quiet and awkward meal.

For the rest of the day, Wen Zhiyan did not appear in the ward.

Meanwhile, Fang Miaomiao felt weak all over, as if her earlier feeling of energy had been an illusion.

"Your body is very weak," Wen Yan'an said, his small face tense, his clear pupils filled with unease.

"I'm fine, maybe I just didn't sleep well," Fang Miaomiao forced a smile and reached out to pat Wen Yan'an's head. "Don't worry, okay?"

During her hospital stay, Wen Yan'an had been by her side without fail, which made her feel warm.

"I'll go find the doctor."

Wen Yan'an wanted to find the doctor, but Fang Miaomiao stopped him.

She knew why she was feeling this way.

The night before last, she had a dream, or more accurately, it wasn't a dream.

She had seen the Fang Miaomiao from the book.

The Fang Miaomiao in the book was trapped in darkness, with only a single beam of light. She sat quietly on the ground within the light.

She saw herself coming, showing no surprise, as if she had been waiting for her. She even greeted her, saying, "Long time no see, you're finally here."

She had many questions, but they finally turned into two: Why had she transmigrated into a book? And if she had taken her body, what would happen to her?

The Fang Miaomiao in the book smiled gently, "How do you know this isn't another real world?"

She was stunned, not knowing what to say.

The Fang Miaomiao in the book said her life had been too difficult, and she didn't want to live anymore. She said no one loved her here, no one believed her, and many people even wished she would die. They sent her threatening letters and constantly insulted her.

She said she was tired of living.

She said, "I'm sorry, I didn't want to involve you, but I really can't hold on any longer."

Fang Miaomiao was silent. This world did seem to have changed. Some people, taking advantage of the fact that others didn't know them, vented their dissatisfaction online and slandered others.

If things got out of hand, they would only say a few insincere words online: "Oh, sorry, I was just kidding. Who knew these people would take it seriously?"

"Why did I end up in your body, and if I'm in your body, what about you?"

The Fang Miaomiao from the book bowed deeply to her, constantly apologizing, saying she didn't do it on purpose.

She calmed down and asked systematically, only to find out that the Fang Miaomiao from the book had inadvertently met an old Taoist priest. The priest could allow her to live in another place, saying that it was just a destined tribulation for someone in another world.

So, they swapped souls and fates.

Thus, she, the unlucky one, woke up in the book.

This ridiculous story.

When she wanted to ask more, she suddenly woke up.

Then, as Wen Yan'an saw, her face was as pale as a ghost. Finally, at An'an's insistence, they stayed in the hospital for another day.

Only now were they being discharged.

"Do you want to come back to the old house with us?"

Fang Miaomiao didn't miss the joy in Wen Yan'an's eyes and a mischievous glint appeared. "Well, why, you don't want to go back to the old house?"

Wen Yan'an thought for a moment and honestly replied, "I like Grandma and Grandpa."

Fang Miaomiao raised an eyebrow slightly. Did he mean he didn't like the others in the old house? But as far as she knew, only Grandpa and Grandma Wen lived there usually.

"Is your father coming back to the old house tonight?" Fang Miaomiao asked tentatively.

"Do you miss my dad?"

"It's just to thank him," Fang Miaomiao felt guilty and dared not meet Wen Yan'an's gaze.

In the dream the other night, the Fang Miaomiao in the book said she had calculated the date and deliberately waited on Grandpa Wen's walking path, thus saving his life, which led to this marriage.

What a headache.
