Chapter 28 She Was Comforted

Fang Miaomiao was clearly taken by surprise that he would hug her like a little adult.

How come he felt a bit soft and smelled nice?

Was she, being flirted with by a child?

"Why aren't you talking?" Wen Yan'an, seeing her silence, thought she was still crying and lowered his head to look. "I'll go find Dad."

"Okay, okay." Fang Miaomiao quickly grabbed him, unable to resist reaching out to ruffle his hair. "If a little kid rubs me, maybe I'll feel better."

"Really?"

Wen Yan'an asked, half-believing, half-doubting. The person in front of him didn't seem like she was telling the truth.

However, when he met her hopeful, tear-filled eyes, he couldn't bring himself to refuse.

"Of course."

"Alright then."

Seeing Wen Yan'an put on a brave face, sacrificing himself just to make her happy, Fang Miaomiao couldn't help but chuckle.

Seeing her smile, Wen Yan'an knew he had been tricked.

"You, you lied to me." Wen Yan'an's face turned red, his brows furrowed as he looked unhappily at the person in front of him who was laughing heartily.

"No," Fang Miaomiao immediately turned serious, looking at Wen Yan'an with great solemnity. "I laughed just now because I touched your face. Your face is so tender, it made me feel better."

"Really?"

"Of course, I never lie."

Wen Yan'an looked at her for a long moment before nodding thoughtfully. "I believe you."

After chatting in the bedroom for a while, Wen Yan'an returned to his study for his second private tutoring session.

Unlike her, who could eat and sleep all day, and sleep and eat all day.

For the next few days, Fang Miaomiao continued her leisurely life, and most importantly, she made it a habit to sneak into Wen Zhiyan's bed every night.

She was so scared that for several days, she would only reluctantly get up to wash and eat after Wen Zhiyan had left Yuyuan.

However...

Fang Miaomiao pouted, habitually reaching out to touch the bedsheet.

Huh?

Why did the texture feel a little different?

No, the little kid was soft and smelled like milk.

Fang Miaomiao's thoughts were still a bit fuzzy: "Wen Yan'an, could you pick up the blanket for me, please?"

"How long are you going to keep touching it?"

A low, magnetic voice came from above.

How come it sounded so pleasant and familiar?

Fang Miaomiao opened her eyes and was met with a tanned complexion.

Her hand was on Wen Zhiyan's waist.

What the heck!

The grogginess in Fang Miaomiao's mind instantly cleared.

She shot up from the bed, snatched the blanket, and covered herself. "You, you, didn't you go to work?"

Wen Zhiyan glanced at his disheveled clothes, then looked at Fang Miaomiao, his tone languid. "It's Saturday today."

"Don't CEOs work year-round without holidays?" Fang Miaomiao retorted instinctively.

If the CEOs in novels took weekends off, they wouldn't get sick from overwork.

Wen Zhiyan looked at her for a while before saying, "We are law-abiding citizens."

Working nine to five, with weekends and holidays off, was the most basic rule.

Hearing this, Fang Miaomiao couldn't help but give him a thumbs-up and praise him. "Good boss, as your employee, my happiness index must be off the charts."

A hint of a smile flashed in Wen Zhiyan's eyes as he accepted Fang Miaomiao's flattery. "Whether my happiness index is off the charts, I don't know. All I know is that if you don't give me the blanket soon and I catch a cold, it won't be good."

Fang Miaomiao paused, then sheepishly gave up half the blanket and piously and attentively covered the benevolent CEO. "Sir, please."

He had to admit, Fang Miaomiao's current behavior and demeanor in all aspects made him feel very comfortable.

"By the way, about that Wang Qing incident, how do you plan to resolve it?"

Fang Miaomiao pouted.

"What's wrong?" Wen Zhiyan's tone carried a tenderness he hadn't noticed himself. "Is it unsolvable?"

Fang Miaomiao scratched her already messy hair. "It's not that it can't be solved, it's just a bit tricky."

In her past life, although that unscrupulous company was inactive, she had her agent Sister Li as an intermediary. The company was rarely, if ever, truly opportunistic at her expense.

But now it was different.

Now, the company was turning its back on her, colluding with Wang Qing's company to take her down.

Today, when she received Sister Li's call, she couldn't help but feel a pang of coldness. Even though she knew this Sister Li wasn't the same Sister Li from her past life, she was still saddened.

"After this is over, I want to terminate my contract," Fang Miaomiao calmly stated her intention.

"You can."

Fang Miaomiao froze, looking at Wen Zhiyan in disbelief. "What did you just say?"

Wen Zhiyan saw the shock in her eyes and was a bit confused. Wasn't this normal? Fang Miaomiao's company only knew how to feast on her and then feed her flesh to newcomers.

If Fang Miaomiao didn't leave, he would think something was wrong with her.

Just like the previous Fang Miaomiao.

This one had much more sense.

"I said, congratulations on embarking on a new journey," Wen Zhiyan added after a moment's thought. "Do you need a lawyer? If so, I can provide you with a legal team."

"No need," Fang Miaomiao shifted her gaze slightly.

Those eyes, those sincere words, made her heart flutter wildly.

She had expected Wen Zhiyan to righteously declare her idea unrealistic.

In both lives, this was the first time someone stood by her side without questioning reasons or calculating gains and losses.

"Wen Zhiyan?"

"What is it?"

He had seen Fang Miaomiao's careless demeanor, her teasing smirk, and even her habit of avoiding him every morning.

This was the first time he had seen Fang Miaomiao look at him so seriously.

In that moment, her eyes seemed to be filled only with his reflection.

"Thank you."

Wen Zhiyan thought, this little demon had gained a unique place in his heart.

He wanted to see more of this little demon's other facets.

"You're welcome."

An indescribable atmosphere suddenly filled the air.

Fang Miaomiao felt awkward, and just as she was wondering what to do, there was a knock on the door.

"Um, someone's knocking. I'll go open it."

With that, she left without looking back, her movements quick and efficient.

Her speed was comparable to someone fleeing after doing something wrong.

Watching this, Wen Zhiyan chuckled silently and shook his head, then moved to his wheelchair.

It had to be said, Fang Miaomiao, this little demon, looked quite thin, but she was quite substantial.

All night, she clung to him like an octopus, practically wanting to press her entire body onto him.

Every time he got up, he had to painstakingly pry her clinging hands off him, and then, before she could roll over, he would give her a pillow to hold.
