"Father, I think we should take Miao Miao back to the apartment," Wen Zhiyan voiced his thoughts.
Fang Miao Miao, observing from the side, felt her eyes brighten. If it were up to her, she'd readily agree. This place was too stifling; it wasn't conducive to her recovery.
"Nonsense," Wen Renhe huffed, eyes wide with mock anger. "You managed to anger your mother away, and now you want to leave me alone in this desolate place? Are you trying to drive me to my grave?"
"Father."
Wen Renhe raised his hand to interrupt. "In short, I disagree. You two, with your grown wings, no longer need this old man. Tell me, what was the point of raising you all these years?"
Wen Zhiyan was about to speak when he saw Fang Miao Miao give him a look.
"Dad, Dad, at home, we definitely have to stay at home, right? This place is so big and fun," Fang Miao Miao chimed in with a smile at the old man. "I wouldn't leave even if you kicked me out."
"Hmph, you truly mean that?"
"Absolutely," Fang Miao Miao nodded vigorously.
Heaven knew how painful she found their argument. All she wanted was for them to stop quarreling. It was just staying at Yu Yuan, what was the big deal?
After all, she was going to participate in a variety show soon.
Each variety show stint would last a few days, and she could find an excuse later to decline the old man's requests. She was so clever.
"That's more like it." Wen Renhe's displeasure softened considerably upon receiving her assurance.
After breakfast, Xin Xuan arrived to take Wen Zhiyan away.
Fang Miao Miao spent some time playing with Wen Yan'an before a home tutor arrived.
Feeling bored, she returned to her room and resumed her lounging on the sofa.
As she was scrolling through videos, chuckling, a ringtone interrupted her.
Sister Li?
Fang Miao Miao answered the call.
"How is your injury healing?"
"It's okay," Fang Miao Miao glanced at the healing wound. "Just need to avoid getting it wet."
"We're going on a trip together, the variety show has been postponed to next Monday. Did you know about this?"
"I did." Fang Miao Miao recalled Wen Zhiyan mentioning it.
The person on the other end fell silent, making Fang Miao Miao think Sister Li had hung up.
"Sister Li?"
After a long pause, Sister Li's voice came through. "Regarding this incident, do you have any good ideas, perhaps regarding a script?"
"Incident?" Fang Miao Miao sat up abruptly.
After a moment of thought, she leaned back onto the sofa.
Had Wang Qing approached Sister Li, or Wang Qing's husband?
"Miao Miao, don't worry. The company will give you a satisfactory response regarding this incident."
A cold glint appeared in Fang Miao Miao's eyes, and her tone was no longer as amiable as before. "Then, Sister Li, what kind of benefits do you think would be appropriate compensation for my accident?"
Sister Li hadn't missed the coldness in Fang Miao Miao's tone, but she knew that escalating the matter would not benefit them. Rather than prolonging the conflict, it was better to seize this opportunity to secure the greatest benefit for herself.
"Miao Miao."
"Sister Li, I always thought you understood me."
This light yet heavy sentence left Sister Li stunned, unsure of what to say.
Soon after, the call was hung up.
"What did Fang Miao Miao say?"
The people in the office looked at Sister Li expectantly.
After a long while, Sister Li put down her phone. "She hung up."
"Hung up? Call her back!" Wang Jiahui said, frustrated.
"General Manager Wang, I think you don't want to do this deal," a middle-aged woman with short hair said, stopping her fidgeting and giving Wang Jiahui a mocking smile.
Wang Jiahui found her disagreeable, but he knew she was someone he couldn't afford to offend.
The woman was known as Wang Qing's agent, Xu Jiajia, a top agent at Fenghe Media, one of the three major media conglomerates in the entertainment industry.
However, he had incidentally learned that Xu Jiajia was also the sister of Fenghe Media's president, a person he absolutely could not afford to cross.
"We will, of course, do it," Wang Jiahui said with a fawning smile. "How could we not do such a good deal? However, Miss Jiajia, you know as well as I do that the current Fang Miao Miao is not someone we can toy with easily."
"After all, as you saw just now, Fang Miao Miao doesn't even take us seriously anymore," Wang Jiahui said with an awkward smile at Xu Jiajia. "We're just a small company, and we're in a difficult position, aren't we?"
Xu Jiajia then sneered. Others might not know, but people in their social circles were aware that while the Wen family had agreed to let Fang Miao Miao join, they hadn't held a wedding, and Fang Miao Miao, as Mrs. Wen, had never appeared at any social gatherings.
To them, Fang Miao Miao's status as Mrs. Wen was merely a joke. Furthermore, her injury was a significant matter, yet no one from the Wen family had stepped forward to seek justice for her. This only proved how unstable Fang Miao Miao's position as Mrs. Wen truly was, which was why she dared to approach Fang Miao Miao's company so brazenly to discuss cooperation.
As long as Fang Miao Miao was willing to turn a blind eye to this incident, Fenghe Media would reluctantly offer her a lead role.
"Manager Wang, Fang Miao Miao is your artist," Xu Jiajia said, leaning back on the sofa with a slight smile at the corner of her mouth. "If even you, a general manager, can't speak up, wouldn't that be a laughingstock?"
"Manager Wang, perhaps we should just..."
Since Fang Miao Miao had hung up her call, the unsettling feeling in her heart had intensified, prompting her to speak unintentionally.
However, before she could finish her sentence, Wang Jiahui interrupted her with a threat.
"Sister Li, don't forget who your employer is," Wang Jiahui said, glaring fiercely at Sister Li through gritted teeth.
"I don't care how you do it, but I hope the outcome will be a happy one for everyone, understand?"
Seeing this, Wang Jiahui immediately stood up and followed Xu Jiajia, bowing with a smile. "Understood, understood, of course. Miss Jiajia, please rest assured, we guarantee you a perfect resolution to this matter."
"Two days."
"Don't worry, within a day and a half, we'll make sure Fang Miao Miao admits her mistake."
Xu Jiajia then stopped, patted Wang Jiahui's shoulder, and gave him a meaningful smile. "Then, I hope our future cooperation will be pleasant."
With that, she turned and left without looking back.
Wang Jiahui, seeing this, immediately followed her to the elevator.
After the elevator descended, his expression changed instantly. He straightened his chest, adjusted his tie, and returned to the office. "I don't care how you do it, but this incident must be portrayed as an accidental occurrence on Fang Miao Miao's part. Do you understand?"
Sister Li was silent for a moment. "The lead role in the drama script must be Miao Miao's."
"Don't worry, that's a given. We've already agreed on that," Wang Jiahui said with a satisfied smile, nodding like a kind superior. "You know, I'm doing this for you, for the company's good. You understand that you can't fight against forces stronger than you."
"I understand." Sister Li clenched her fists, nodded finally, and left the office.
