"What?" Wen Zhiyan saw her mumble but didn't clearly hear what she was saying.
"Nothing," Fang Miaomiao shook her head. "Speaking of which, did you remember what I just told you?"
"Don't worry," Wen Zhiyan tapped his head. "What Miaomiao says, I will definitely keep it well in mind."
Back when he learned he would never stand again, he had gone through a period of despair. Later, after finding out his injury wasn't an accident, he wanted those people to pay. But one day his father told him his elder brother had died, leaving behind a child.
Due to his elder brother's special profession, the child's existence couldn't be revealed. So his father decided to let him raise his elder brother's child, and publicly claim the child was his, with the mother having died during childbirth.
With a child, coupled with his mother's desperate pleas, he didn't pursue those people.
"That's good then," Fang Miaomiao breathed a sigh of relief after seeing he had taken her words to heart.
It wasn't that she didn't want to explain everything to Wen Zhiyan, but how exactly should she? Tell him they actually existed within a book, and she knew so much because she had finished reading this novel? Tell him she knew his fate wouldn't be good in the end, and An An's fate wouldn't be good either?
She was afraid if she said it, they wouldn't believe her, and would even lock her up in a mental hospital, thinking she was crazy.
Tsk, knowing too much wasn't always a good thing.
"Okay," Wen Zhiyan nodded. "Miaomiao, it's getting late. You should rest early, otherwise, it's not good for your wound to heal."
"What about you?"
"Me?" Wen Zhiyan pointed to where Wen Yan'an was sleeping. "I'm sleeping with An An tonight. I have to go on a business trip tomorrow."
"A business trip?" Fang Miaomiao recalled only hearing Wen Zhiyan mention a business trip on her very first night in this world. This was the second time.
"Yes, there's a cooperation in City S. I have to go."
Fang Miaomiao couldn't find any chapter in her mind where Wen Zhiyan had problems in City S. Only then did she nod. "Alright, be careful."
"Okay. For the next few days, you stay in the hospital and rest well. Once I'm done with the cooperation in City S, I'll come back immediately and take you guys out to have fun and eat. How about that?"
They conversed back and forth, like a couple married for over a decade.
Not a single word of "I love you," but every word was about his care for her.
"Miaomiao, goodnight."
"Goodnight."
The simple "goodnight" made Fang Miaomiao's heart race again.
She turned her head to look at the moonlight coming through the window, her lips curved upwards, then widened into a silent smile.
Grandma.
Did you know?
I think I've found my love in this world. He's the most outstanding person I've ever met in two lifetimes. He's kind, upright, resilient, and noble. All the adjectives in the world are not enough to describe his goodness.
In the vast sea of people, at a glance.
It's him.
Grandma, I've found my love. You would like him too, wouldn't you?
It's just that.
Fang Miaomiao sighed. He's so outstanding, what if I'm not good enough for him.
Grandma, I really, really like him, what should I do?
You said, if I properly pursue him, would he agree?
Alas, after living for over fifty years, I'm still troubled by love like a girl in her first romance.
Fang Miaomiao turned her head and looked at Wen Zhiyan, who lay perfectly straight, his profile indescribable.
A man at his peak, so hard to pursue.
She felt that if she continued thinking like this, she'd definitely stay up all night.
With that thought, Fang Miaomiao took a deep breath and forced herself to fall asleep.
"Rock-a-bye, rock to Grandma's house, Grandma will hug me, and we'll go to dreamland together."
"Grandma, it's 'Rock-a-bye, baby, to Grandma's house'."
"Grandma likes singing it this way. Miaomiao is Grandma's little treasure, so of course, you have to be with Grandma."
"Hehe, what if I find a husband in the future?"
"Found a husband? Then you must bring him to Grandma. Miaomiao is so naive, Grandma needs to carefully vet him for Yao Yao. Marriage is for a lifetime, Grandma must help Miaomiao choose well."
"Hehe, don't worry, Grandma. Miaomiao will definitely find the best husband in the world."
"Good."
Fang Miaomiao looked at the two people talking and laughing on the bed and her eyes immediately welled up. She couldn't help but call out, "Grandma."
"Yes, I'm here."
"Grandma, did you see it? Miaomiao has really fallen for a very outstanding person."
Before her, a benevolent old lady looked at her with a smile.
"Grandma."
"Miaomiao, good girl, why are you crying at your age?"
"I'm not. I just haven't seen you in a long time." Fang Miaomiao wiped away her tears haphazardly.
"Why are you looking at me? Grandma is living very happily in heaven."
"Then why didn't you send me a dream? Are you angry because I didn't see you one last time?" Fang Miaomiao knelt on the ground. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Grandma, I'm sorry."
"Silly child, how could Grandma be angry with our Miaomiao? Miaomiao is Grandma's darling."
"Silly child, you must always look forward. Lingering on the past won't do you any good, understand?"
"Grandma."
"The boy you found is very outstanding. Our Miaomiao is truly amazing, to have found the most outstanding person in the world so quickly."
"Grandma." Fang Miaomiao panicked and quickly got up from the ground, looking at Grandma nervously and shaking her head. "Don't leave, don't leave me. I'm Miaomiao. I haven't gotten married yet. You said you'd watch me get married. You can't lie to me."
"You silly child, oh you silly child." Grandma looked at her crying like a child. "Didn't I say you shouldn't always dwell on the past? Grandma knows Miaomiao is living well, and that's enough. Grandma will bless you from heaven."
"Miaomiao, Miaomiao, wake up."
"Miaomiao, don't cry, I'm here, don't cry."
"Miaomiao."
Fang Miaomiao's eyes snapped open, and she saw Wen Zhiyan sitting by her bedside, looking anxious.
"Miaomiao, you're awake."
"Wen Zhiyan?"
"It's me."
Disregarding the pain in her body, Fang Miaomiao got out of bed and hugged Wen Zhiyan tightly, repeatedly calling out, "Wen Zhiyan, Wen Zhiyan."
"I'm here," Wen Zhiyan hugged back Fang Miaomiao's trembling body. "Miaomiao, don't be afraid, I'm here."
After a long while, Fang Miaomiao finally said, with tears streaming down her face, "Wen Zhiyan, I saw my grandma."
"Grandma said she doesn't blame me, she doesn't blame me."
Wen Zhiyan sensed her agitation and gently patted her back. "Our Miaomiao is so obedient and good. Grandma surely won't blame Miaomiao, right?"
"Miaomiao, please don't cry. If Grandma knew her precious was crying like a little kitten, she'd be heartbroken, wouldn't she?"
