Chapter 294 Doubt

"Good boy, come, tell me what you want to eat tonight, and Mom will make it for you."

Wen Yan'an shook his head, "Then please make it light, Mom. Dad is injured and can't eat heavy-flavored food."

"Okay."

Wen Yan'an returned to his room to do his homework.

Looking at the not-fully-closed room door, Fang Miaomiao's pupils contracted, and she looked at Wen Zhiyan with some concern, "Wen Zhiyan."

Wen Zhiyan was silent for a moment, "Let's observe for a few days. This might actually be a good thing."

Fang Miaomiao nodded, leaving a "I'll sleep with An'an tonight" before getting up and going into the kitchen.

Wen Zhiyan: "..."

What's going on? Why is she sleeping with An'an again?

Never mind, he's his son after all. It's not impossible to let him have his way occasionally.

Wen Zhiyan reluctantly comforted himself and then pushed his wheelchair towards the study.

The Study.

His phone vibrated.

"Hello."

"Wen Zhiyan, are you sure the information you gave is correct?"

"If you don't believe me, you can check," Wen Zhiyan said, looking at the documents on his desk. "Fang Zhihuan, your brother is innocent, you are innocent, everyone is innocent. The only thing we can do now is to find those people and make them pay the price they deserve."

Fang Zhihuan on the other end of the phone was silent for a while before saying, "Xie Wanqing's whereabouts here have been deliberately covered up, but I'll have everything checked out in a few days. Wen Zhiyan, this is the last time I trust your Wen family. Don't let me down."

"It's not the Wen family, it's me, Wen Zhiyan."

Fang Zhihuan chuckled, "Wen Zhiyan, you doubt even your own family?"

"I can't help it," Wen Zhiyan closed his eyes and rested for a moment. When he opened them again, a cold glint flashed in his eyes. "I don't trust anyone else right now."

"Alright. In a while, I'll send you Xie Wanqing's information."

After hanging up the phone, Wen Zhiyan put the phone back into the cabinet.

He briefly handled some matters.

When he looked up again, it was Fang Miaomiao knocking on the door.

"Come in."

"Wen Zhiyan, the police are here."

Wen Zhiyan nodded, "Okay."

Two police officers arrived to investigate the bullying Wen Yan'an experienced at school.

"Discussing it in the study?" the leading middle-aged police officer asked, looking puzzled. "Isn't that inappropriate?"

"It's fine," Wen Zhiyan shook his head. "There's nothing illegal in my study."

The middle-aged police officer shook his head, "Then let's begin. To protect your rights, we will record this entire conversation."

"Certainly."

"Hello, police officers," Wen Yan'an said obediently. "My name is Wen Yan'an, you can call me An'an."

"Good boy, both of us are surnamed Wang, you can call us Uncle Wang."

"Hello, two Uncle Wangs."

The two police officers exchanged glances and smiled, shaking their heads. "Hello, An'an. We're mainly here to understand the situation with your substitute teacher, Xiang Ling. An'an, you must not lie, and you must answer truthfully, understand?"

Wen Yan'an nodded obediently, "Okay, police officers."

Then, one police officer asked questions while the other took notes.

Half an hour later.

The two police officers stood up, shook hands with Wen Zhiyan, and said, "We've got the basic situation. You and Xiang Ling can choose to settle privately or file a lawsuit."

"Thank you. We do not accept private settlements."

The police nodded in understanding, "Alright, we will actively cooperate on our end."

"Thank you."

After seeing the police off, the three of them sat down for dinner.

"Mom."

"Hmm?"

"Can I sleep with you tonight?" Wen Yan'an explained, "We won't share a blanket, okay? Just for tonight."

"Sure. I was just discussing it with your Dad. Your Dad's leg is injured, so he can only sleep alone," Fang Miaomiao nodded, looking at Wen Yan'an with a smile. "So, An'an will sleep with me today, and Dad will sleep in your room, how about that?"

Wen Yan'an glanced at Wen Zhiyan. Seeing that he didn't object, he breathed a sigh of relief and happily ate his food.

Wen Zhiyan's lips curved slightly: Good kid.

"Mom, Mom, I want you to tell me a story."

After bathing, Wen Yan'an had a unique baby scent that was particularly comforting.

Fang Miaomiao closed her script, "Of course. What story do you want to hear?"

"I want to hear Mom's script," Wen Yan'an obediently pulled up the blanket, revealing his big, watery eyes. "Can I?"

"Of course," Fang Miaomiao raised an eyebrow. "I'll read my script to An'an."

With that, Fang Miaomiao opened the script, found the part she was memorizing, and began to read.

In the large room, Fang Miaomiao's voice was like a lark, each word and sentence echoing clearly and with abundant emotion.

After an unknown amount of time, Wen Yan'an closed his eyes, a pleasant curve on his lips.

Ding!

Fang Miaomiao glanced at Wen Yan'an, who had fallen asleep, then picked up her phone and opened it.

.: An'an asleep?

Just Want to Be a Salted Fish: Asleep. Is your leg hurting again?

.: No, just not used to sleeping alone.

Just Want to Be a Salted Fish: Don't pretend. It's late, you should get some sleep too. Be careful not to move around too much, or you'll hurt the wound.

.: Okay. Goodnight, Miaomiao.

Fang Miaomiao's lips curved upwards. After sending a goodnight message, she snuggled back into bed and closed her eyes.

The next morning, she suddenly opened her eyes and looked to the side. Seeing Wen Yan'an sleeping soundly, she breathed a sigh of relief.

She tiptoed out of bed.

As she stepped out of the bedroom, she saw Wen Zhiyan also emerging from Wen Yan'an's room.

"Miaomiao?" Wen Zhiyan looked surprised. "Why are you up so early today? And you have dark circles under your eyes. Didn't you sleep well?"

Fang Miaomiao leaned against the doorframe and waved her hand, "What you're saying makes it sound like I'm always lazy."

Wen Zhiyan smiled, "I misspoke, I apologize. It's just..."

"It's okay. You were right, I didn't sleep well last night."

"Is it about An'an?"

Fang Miaomiao went to the kitchen to pour two cups of warm water, "Something like that."

Last night, she had a nightmare that An'an was kidnapped by human traffickers, and she spent the whole night searching for clues, unable to wake up.

"Miaomiao?"

"Don't worry, I'm fine. It was just a nightmare," Fang Miaomiao took a deep breath. "However, let's bring Da Chen back recently. He's underutilized staying with me. Let him come back to look after An'an."

Wen Zhiyan was silent for a moment, "Alright. Da Chen will come back, and I'll find someone else to be your driver."

"Okay," Fang Miaomiao didn't object to Wen Zhiyan's words. "How about some noodle soup for breakfast today? Yangchun noodles."

"Sure. I'll eat whatever Miaomiao makes. I'm not picky."

"So easy to feed."

Fang Miaomiao stretched and turned to enter the kitchen.
