"Master Wen?"
Xin Xuanlai, though reluctant to disturb Master Wen and Madam's intimate moments, felt it was time for serious matters.
Perhaps something like gathering evidence.
But seeing their unhurried demeanor, he felt like the emperor was unconcerned while the eunuch was anxious.
Wen Zhiyan glanced at him, "Since that's the case, this matter is yours. I was originally thinking this task is quite heavy, so I'd have others assist you."
Xin Xuanlai: "..."
Forgive me, it was his loose tongue, his poor choice of words. Could Master Wen spare him?
Fang Miaomiao, sensing his plea, shook her head with a wry smile, "Wen Zhiyan, don't scare him."
Only then did Wen Zhiyan retract his gaze, "Miaomiao, you handle the incident of the assault at the amusement park. As for Chen Cai's matter, others are already on it."
Xin Xuanlai bowed and left the ward in a hurry.
It was as if something in the ward was chasing him.
"Thank you," Fang Miaomiao said sincerely to Wen Zhiyan after the other person left.
Wen Zhiyan smiled faintly, saying nothing.
The two stayed in the ward, one browsing their phone, the other working on documents, enjoying a leisurely and warm period.
Chen Huan: Shen Jian Ni's incident, what do you plan to do?
Upon seeing the message, Fang Miaomiao couldn't help but be surprised. She hadn't expected Chen Huan to message her privately about this matter.
Fang Miaomiao replied, "I'm already collecting evidence. Later, I'll conduct a live broadcast online while also reporting to the police. Shen Jian Ni's actions already constitute rumor-mongering and defamation against me."
Chen Huan: There are whispers online that Shen Jian Ni has gone missing. Some even suggest your involvement in her disappearance.
Fang Miaomiao suddenly recalled Shen Jian Ni's frantic and disheveled state the previous night. She couldn't help but slightly turn her head to look at Wen Zhiyan.
"What's wrong?" Wen Zhiyan, who had been attending to his work, felt a gaze upon him. He looked up and saw Fang Miaomiao staring at him, and asked.
"It's just, I remembered there was a Shen Jian Ni last night, right? Where is Shen Jian Ni?"
As she spoke, Fang Miaomiao briefly recounted the online news to Wen Zhiyan.
"Shen Jian Ni?" Wen Zhiyan put down his documents and said with a smile, "What if I told you I've placed her somewhere no one knows, thinking of letting her starve for a few days? Miaomiao, would you be afraid?"
"Afraid?"
Fang Miaomiao was a little confused, "Why should I be afraid?"
It was Shen Jian Ni who wanted to harm her, not that she initiated the conflict. Why should she be afraid? Moreover, she considered this Wen Zhiyan's way of standing up for her and avenging her.
Why would she be afraid?
Heaven knows how much she wished for someone to stand behind her and support her, to champion her cause when she was bullied in her previous life.
Would she be so foolish as to be afraid of someone standing up for her?
Besides, this wasn't just anyone; it was the person she liked, her current husband.
"I'm not a good person."
"There are plenty of bad people in the world," Fang Miaomiao scoffed, leaning back on the pillow. "Others commit murder and arson. You're just helping me vent my anger a little, not taking her life."
Wen Zhiyan raised an eyebrow slightly upon hearing this, "You trust so much that I wouldn't take her life?"
"Give it a rest," Fang Miaomiao said lightly. "You treat your company employees so well; how could you do something like that?"
It wasn't her boasting. Forget this world; even in her original world, companies with standard nine-to-five hours and weekends off were rare, let alone those with ridiculously high salaries.
"You say that." Wen Zhiyan didn't know whether to laugh or cry at her answer.
Fang Miaomiao then turned her head and looked at Wen Zhiyan very seriously, "I trust you."
Wen Zhiyan was taken aback, then his lips curved upwards as he said, "Don't worry, I'm just making her suffer a bit. After your matters are settled, I'll hand them over to the police."
"You're truly a model citizen."
"It's what should be done."
After a brief period of playful banter, Fang Miaomiao logged into her Weibo account and posted a response to the incident.
Although, as soon as her Weibo was posted, a large group of haters and Shen Jian Ni's fans flooded in to hurl abuse at her.
Fang Miaomiao didn't read a single comment and closed her phone, deciding to sleep.
Looking at these annoying things was worse than sleeping.
After Wen Zhiyan finished his work, he slightly turned his head and saw Fang Miaomiao sleeping soundly. A doting smile appeared on his lips. He then carefully placed his hands on the bed, moved from the caregiver's bed that Xin Xuanlai had brought in, and onto his wheelchair.
He reached out and gently tapped the forehead of the sleeping Fang Miaomiao, then turned his wheelchair and left.
Fourth floor of the hospital.
"Master Wen, why are you here?"
The old doctor responsible for overseeing Wen Zhiyan's legs looked up and saw Wen Zhiyan at the doorway, almost jumping out of his seat in shock.
"Follow-up check-up."
Wen Zhiyan's thin lips parted, uttering two words.
The old doctor's nearly white eyebrows furrowed. It hadn't even been a week since the last check-up. Why was this "ancestor" here for another one?
"What?"
"No, no." The old doctor quickly stood up from his chair. "I'm just curious why you're here alone this time. Where's your assistant? You know your current condition is of utmost importance. I'm not trying to be harsh, but if you get bumped or injured, what then?"
"Follow-up check-up." Wen Zhiyan interrupted the old doctor's incessant chatter, "Last night, I felt a warm current flow into my legs."
Today as well, he even felt like his toes could move.
"Is that true?"
Wen Zhiyan looked at him without speaking.
The old doctor gave an awkward chuckle, "Master Wen, I apologize. It's been so long since I've seen a miracle, I got a little excited. Please don't mind me."
With that, the old doctor quickly asked a nurse to push Wen Zhiyan for an examination.
The results came out quickly. If it weren't for the old doctor stopping people from knowing Wen Zhiyan had come for a check-up, his office would likely be packed by now.
However...
The old doctor looked at the report, his eyebrows furrowed deeply once more.
"Doctor Yuan?"
After a long while, Old Doctor Yuan put down the report and feigned displeasure, glaring at Wen Zhiyan. "You're already so old, why are you still so impatient? I never saw you like this before."
Wen Zhiyan remained silent.
"You, can't say a word after half a day." Old Doctor Yuan said exasperatedly, "Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore. The warm current you felt entering your legs yesterday was because your nerves and your lower limbs have completely connected, which is why you felt such a strong sensation."
"So?" Wen Zhiyan gripped the armrests of his wheelchair, staring intently at the old doctor, his breathing becoming noticeably rapid.
