Chapter 63 Your Parents Want You Home

Leaving the studio, Fang Yanhuan's expression immediately turned sullen.

She hadn't expected that after only two episodes of the variety show, Fang Miaomiao would have won over Chen Tianming. The thought of him speaking about Fang Miaomiao with endless smiles in his eyes made Fang Yanhuan feel stifled.

She couldn't understand where Fang Miaomiao got her incredible luck from. Her early life was spent living the life of a pampered daughter, getting whatever she desired. Even after being kicked out, she was fortunate enough to marry into the Wen family.

At first, she hadn't paid much attention. After all, she had subtly inquired with Wen Wenlan and knew that although Fang Miaomiao had married into the Wen family, she wasn't favored. She hadn't even attended the weekly Wen family banquets more than a few times.

However, not long ago, she learned from Wen Wenlan that Fang Miaomiao was ill. It was one thing for her husband to drop his work and fly back from abroad, but it was even more astonishing that the elder master had agreed to let Fang Miaomiao recuperate in the Imperial Garden.

It was known that once the Wen children grew up, they were not allowed to reside in the Imperial Garden, under the pretense of fostering their independence. Even Wen Wenlan, known as the "Crown Prince of Wen," didn't have the privilege of staying overnight in the Imperial Garden.

Yet, Fang Miaomiao not only stayed overnight but remained there for several days. This made her, who was called the future Crown Princess, panic.

Even if Wen Wenlan favored her, he had never brought her to the Imperial Garden for a family banquet. But Fang Miaomiao, that fake eldest daughter, continued to live there.

This was unacceptable.

There was no other way, so she pestered Wen Wenlan, asking him to find a way to get her onto this program. Initially, it was fine, as Fang Miaomiao usually ignored her.

It wasn't until later, when she discovered Fang Miaomiao cooking in the kitchen, that she froze.

This was a joke. It wasn't as if she hadn't spent time with Fang Miaomiao. She knew better than anyone whether Fang Miaomiao could cook. Fang Miaomiao was extremely pampered, like a young lady from ancient times whose fingers never touched the dirty work of household chores. She never looked at people properly, which was one of the main reasons she intensely disliked Fang Miaomiao.

So, she used a little trick to get her mother to kick Fang Miaomiao out of the Fang family. Originally, she thought that without the identity of the Fang family's eldest daughter, Fang Miaomiao would lower her head and no longer be so arrogant.

But she never expected Fang Miaomiao to be so lucky. After living a poor life for only a few days, she had, in the blink of an eye, married into the Wen family, and even more so, resided in the Imperial Garden.

Originally, she thought she would just let it go. However, her own parents, upon learning that Fang Miaomiao was living in the Imperial Garden, urged her to actively contact Fang Miaomiao, implying that she should invite Fang Miaomiao to visit the Fang family when she had time.

What was this supposed to mean?

She was the rightful eldest daughter of the Fang family. Not only was she usurped, but her own father actually wanted her to bring that person back.

Why?

She was unwilling.

Why?

After finishing her workout, Fang Miaomiao saw Fang Yanhuan standing in the courtyard, her face a mixture of resentment and stubbornness. The moonlight filtering through the thin clouds finally revealed Fang Yanhuan's face.

This puzzled her. "What are you standing here for?"

Hearing the voice, Fang Yanhuan fearfully and hurriedly wiped the tears from her face. "Sister, where did you go?"

Fang Miaomiao glanced at Fang Yanhuan with a bewildered expression and said, "Where I go doesn't seem to have anything to do with you."

"Sister."

Fang Miaomiao looked at Fang Yanhuan for a moment, then sighed under her hesitant expression. "Fang Yanhuan, how many times have I told you, you really don't need to call me sister."

She was still young in this life and really had no inclination to be someone's older sister.

"But..." Fang Yanhuan nervously lowered her head, then looked up again. "I..."

"If you have something to say, then say it," Fang Miaomiao disliked beating around the bush.

"It's just that you've been out for so long, Mom and Dad miss you a little. They asked me to ask when you'll have some free time to come home for a visit."

Fang Miaomiao originally wanted to say, "Are you willing to let me come back?"

But then she thought, that sounded a bit like a manipulative green tea. The original host had, after all, occupied Fang Yanhuan's body for over twenty years. While this wasn't the situation the original host wanted, saying that would make her sound sarcastic.

Thinking of this, Fang Miaomiao straightened her body slightly. "I'm very sorry, I won't be going back."

"Why?" Fang Yanhuan stopped Fang Miaomiao, who was about to leave. "Why won't you go back?"

Fang Miaomiao: "..."

She wasn't a saint. She wasn't the daughter of that family anyway. If she went back, how would Fang Yanhuan feel?

When she read the novel, she actually felt quite sympathetic towards Fang Yanhuan. Yes, she had been taken back by the Fang family, but the Fang family valued profit more than familial affection.

It wasn't an exaggeration to say that if Fang Yanhuan hadn't ended up with Wen Wenlan, the Fang parents might not have treated her with genuine kindness.

She found herself in a strange position: on one hand, she felt Fang Yanhuan was pitiful, but on the other hand, she didn't want to interact with Fang Yanhuan, or even the entire Fang family. Therefore, the best method was to avoid them.

"Because that's not my home," Fang Miaomiao didn't turn around, looking up at the sky. "I am grateful for their upbringing, but under the current circumstances, it's better not to meet."

"But..." Fang Yanhuan hesitated.

"You're old enough now, you should sometimes think for yourself. You can't just look at things with your eyes," Fang Miaomiao waved her hand at Fang Yanhuan, her back to her. "It's getting late, go get some rest."

Tsk, if it were in the past, she wouldn't even spare Fang Yanhuan a glance. However, since she was using Fang Miaomiao's body, she had to handle some of her affairs.

Alas! Relationships were so troublesome. Heaven knew how much she wished she could ignore everything and just lie in her own small apartment for months.

That was the truly lazy life she desired.

Fang Yanhuan watched the figure disappear into the room, then sneered and looked up at the sky. How could she not know that her current parents were insatiably greedy? If she hadn't entered the entertainment industry and met Wen Wenlan, their affection for her wouldn't have been much.

At this moment, she rather envied Fang Miaomiao's freedom.

"You're back."

Moonlight streamed through the window onto the bed, illuminating the small figure.

Fang Miaomiao watched him rub his eyes. "Did I wake you? Sorry."

"No," Wen Yan'an hugged his pillow, propping up his chin. "I was waiting for you. Where did you go?"

"Just went out for a stroll, a little walk."

Wen Yan'an pouted, a hint of an unconscious pout in his voice. "You always go out at night without me."

"Children shouldn't go out at night, or the big bad wolf will catch them," Fang Miaomiao walked towards the bed.

Wen Yan'an snorted and scooted further into the bed. "You're lying to a child."
