Chapter 29 Cooperation

"Little kid?"

"Time for breakfast," Wen Yan'an looked up at her face, finding nothing unusual, and spoke with relief.

For the past few days, Wen Yan'an had been waking up without fail every morning to call Fang Miaomiao to get up.

"Oh, okay." Fang Miaomiao habitually ruffled Wen Yan'an's hair. "Your dad is in the bedroom, go find him yourself."

A flicker of confusion crossed Wen Yan'an's eyes. Didn't she not sleep with his dad?

Had she started sleeping with his dad after returning to the Imperial Garden?

Did that mean she had a little sister in her belly?

Thinking of this, Wen Yan'an stared intently at Fang Miaomiao's stomach.

"Little friend Wen Yan'an, what do you mean by staring at my belly like that?"

"I'm wondering if you have a little sister in your belly," Wen Yan'an said earnestly.

"What on earth?"

Fang Miaomiao was struck dumb by this innocent and childish remark.

What kind of statement was that?

Looking at those eyes full of curiosity, Fang Miaomiao found herself at a loss for words.

Just as she was wondering how to explain that wasn't the case, a heavenly voice from behind rescued her from her predicament.

"An'an."

"Good morning, Dad."

Turning around, Wen Zhiyan, in contrast to his usual weekday formal wear, looked younger and more energetic in his casual clothes.

"Come here."

Wen Yan'an thought for a moment, then waved goodbye to Fang Miaomiao and walked towards Wen Zhiyan.

Fang Miaomiao gave Wen Zhiyan a grateful look, then quickly slipped into the bathroom.

"Dad, why doesn't she want me to ask her?"

"Does An'an like her very much?"

Wen Yan'an thought for a long time, then finally nodded: "I like her."

He hadn't felt anything for the previous Fang Miaomiao, only feeling that he had a mother and was no longer a "wild child" in others' eyes. But later, he clearly felt that she didn't like him, so he behaved himself and didn't bother her.

However, during this recent period, he could feel that she was different. Her eyes looked better, and she had a pleasant scent about her.

Although she didn't talk to him much, he knew very well that he liked being by her side, even if it was just quietly doing his own thing without speaking.

As long as he was by her side, he would be very happy and very at ease.

Although he didn't know why he could feel two different atmospheres from one person, every night he would make a wish in his bed, hoping that the person who accompanied him every day would always be this one who made him feel happy and at peace.

"Then, let her stay here, alright?"

Wen Yan'an looked at the bathroom for a while, then turned to meet Wen Zhiyan's gaze and asked his inner doubt: "Will she be willing?"

Wen Zhiyan rubbed Wen Yan'an's head. "Maybe?"

Wen Yan'an lowered his head to think, then looked up at Wen Zhiyan. "If I'm good, will she stay?"

"We can work hard together."

"Okay." Wen Yan'an quickly made a decision. "We'll cooperate to make her like us."

Wen Zhiyan's eyebrows rose slightly: This little guy even knows about cooperation.

"What are you two talking about?" Fang Miaomiao came out after washing up and saw the father and son discussing something.

"We're talking about..." When Wen Yan'an heard Fang Miaomiao's voice, his guilty gaze dared not meet hers.

"Oh, An'an said he's never been to an amusement park, so he was wondering if he could discuss it with you."

"Amusement park?" Fang Miaomiao blinked.

She had never been to an amusement park either, and she still had some longing for that place.

"The little kid wants to go to the amusement park?"

Although Wen Yan'an was annoyed that his dad had dragged him out to be a scapegoat without warning, an amusement park was something he'd seen on TV, where mothers always took their children on weekends.

Thinking of this, he looked at Fang Miaomiao shyly, wanting to say yes, but afraid she wouldn't go with him.

After all, he was too young.

Fang Miaomiao saw the hesitation and hope in his eyes at a glance.

An amusement park, that sounded like a good place.

She turned and walked out of the room.

Watching her turn and leave, Wen Yan'an froze in place, his young face filled with confusion and bewilderment.

Did she not want to take him?

Was it because he wasn't good?

So, she didn't want him, and didn't want to take him out to play.

Even Wen Zhiyan was a little surprised. Had he guessed wrong?

"What are you two standing around for?"

Seeing that no one was following, Fang Miaomiao turned to look back.

She saw two faces, quite similar, staring at her in astonishment. The child's tender eyes were starting to redden, looking as if tears would fall at any moment.

"What are you doing?" Fang Miaomiao suddenly realized, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall as if she had no bones. "Are you not planning to go? Or are you going without breakfast like this?"

"You, you agreed?" Wen Yan'an thought he was hearing things, his eyes widened, and he asked cautiously.

"Why else? But you have to wait until I finish breakfast, I'm hungry."

"Breakfast, breakfast." Wen Yan'an, uncharacteristically, looked at Wen Zhiyan. Seeing Wen Zhiyan nod, he abandoned his usual seriousness and ran towards Fang Miaomiao.

Looking at her chubby red cheeks, Fang Miaomiao shook her head helplessly, then pretended to be disgusted and took out a tissue from her pocket. "Why are you crying?"

Wen Yan'an let her clumsily and gently wipe the tears from his cheeks, with a hint of grievance: "I thought you didn't like me going to the amusement park with you."

Fang Miaomiao's wiping motion paused. She chuckled and rubbed his little face. "Let me tell you, the amusement park is no fun if you go alone. So, little kid who cries, can you do me the honor of accompanying me on a day trip to the amusement park?"

Wen Yan'an sniffled. "I'm not a crybaby."

"Okay, okay, okay." Knowing that her actions had caused a misunderstanding, Fang Miaomiao readily admitted her mistake. "It's my fault this time. I shouldn't have expressed myself inaccurately and caused a misunderstanding, alright?"

In her opinion, Wen Yan'an was also a pitiable child. His parents were unknown, and he had been raised by Wen Zhiyan as his own son. However, due to Wen Zhiyan's own issues, he was unwilling to communicate with An'an, which led An'an to become increasingly withdrawn. Later in the book, he was further ruined by the original host to the point of being unrecognizable.

"I was also wrong." After knowing that she intended to take him to the amusement park, Wen Yan'an quickly calmed down. He knew he also had a problem. He was always lost in his own world. If he had been braver just now, none of this would have happened.

He wouldn't have cried, and Fang Miaomiao wouldn't have laughed at him.

"Alright, then this matter, we'll all let it go?"

"Okay." Wen Yan'an returned to his usual calm and well-behaved demeanor.

However, upon closer inspection, one could see a few more sparks in his eyes.
