Shang Qi was driving, his attention couldn't be divided, so Su Ling picked up the conversation.
Su Ling sat in the passenger seat, her hand resting on the car window, leaning back lazily. Her voice was faint as she asked, "What did you see?"
Chu Jin was unaware that Shang Qi and Su Ling were reborn, nor did he know how much they understood the changes after the apocalypse.
However, since Su Ling was willing to engage, Chu Jin responded, "I saw the small animals in the mountains. They were like spirits, their sizes growing to n times their original size."
This change had greatly surprised Chu Jin. He had previously survived in the mountains.
At that time, those animals were still the same as before.
In such a short period, they had become plump and terrifyingly large, as if they had been injected with steroids.
Su Ling showed no surprise or shock upon hearing Chu Jin's words.
It was clear that Su Ling and Shang Qi already knew about the phenomena Chu Jin was describing and were accustomed to them.
After Chu Jin finished speaking, he expected Su Ling or Shang Qi to show curiosity or inquiry.
However, in reality, neither Su Ling nor Shang Qi seemed interested in his topic.
"What is it?" Chu Jin leaned forward, looking first at Shang Qi, then at Su Ling. "You two don't seem interested in what I'm saying at all. Aren't you worried about those suddenly mutated animals?"
Su Ling wore sunglasses, blocking out the dazzling sun.
Since the hail storm, the weather had been getting hotter and hotter. Although it was late autumn, it felt like scorching summer, stifling and hot.
"We are interested," Su Ling replied faintly, turning her head to look at Chu Jin. "What is there to worry about? Think about it this way, isn't this just another source of resources for us?"
"What?" Chu Jin didn't understand, looking at Su Ling with a bewildered expression.
He had to admit that sometimes Su Ling and Shang Qi's thinking was truly unfathomable.
He considered himself quite intelligent, but in front of them, he always felt a bit slow-witted.
Seeing that Chu Jin didn't understand, Su Ling patiently explained, "After the apocalypse, as human survivors gradually adapt to the post-apocalyptic mode, everything will tend towards stability. The human demand for resources will not decrease as the situation stabilizes; it will only accumulate with the passage of time in the apocalypse."
"We all know that many resources are non-renewable, given the limited conditions. Resources will eventually be depleted and completely scavenged by human survivors. By then, the demand for resources will become a critical issue for all of humanity."
Su Ling looked ahead at the majestic mountains, her voice clear and cold, "The mutation of the animals you mentioned will become one of the most important sources of resources for humans in the future apocalyptic world."
The wild fruits and vegetables in the mountains would also be a source.
As the human population decreased and their destruction of forests and lakes lessened, the natural ecological balance would eventually reach a stable state.
However, that was a matter for much later. At least for the current human survivors, the demand for resources was not yet high, and a dire situation of resource scarcity had not yet emerged.
Chu Jin listened to Su Ling's analysis and was greatly astonished and deeply impressed.
He was truly amazed and full of admiration for Su Ling's far-sighted strategy!
The longer he stayed with these two, the more he felt they were like characters with God's perspective, always able to turn danger into safety.
Everything with them always found a solution.
Perhaps they were favored children of destiny!
