The next morning, Su Ling and her companions finished breakfast and headed out.
Their destination was the usual spot, to transport materials for the new base.
Su Ling divided their people into three teams. The first team, comprised of ordinary survivors whose special abilities had not yet awakened, remained within the castle to manage daily meals.
The second team, led by Su Ling and Shang Qi, was responsible for taking a group of people to the suburbs.
The largest team, the third, was under the command of Gu Shangse, Wen Shangsheng, and Zhang Wenbin, and was tasked with establishing the new base.
Su Ling’s mobile castle was situated on a vast, boundless plain. Gu Shangse and the others drove trucks, transporting the building materials to the designated site. Everyone worked with clear division of labor and mutual cooperation, busily working under the rising sun.
As Su Ling and her group departed the castle and the construction site, heading towards the suburbs, Wen Shangyin’s side was also in motion.
Song Lian lowered his binoculars and turned to walk into the tent. Wen Shangyin and Xu Yan were sitting on chairs, eating breakfast.
After a night of preparation, some personnel had already evacuated and were en route back to the imperial capital.
The remaining personnel were left to complete the subsequent tasks.
Song Lian entered the tent with his binoculars, pulled out an empty chair, and sat down.
A lavish breakfast was laid out on the table before him. While Wen Shangyin and Xu Yan had eaten a considerable amount, his portion remained untouched.
Song Lian placed the binoculars on the table, took a sip of his steaming coffee, and then picked up a chicken breast sandwich. He looked at Wen Shangyin and said, “Su Ling and Shang Qi have already gone to the suburbs. Gu Shangse and the others have left the castle and are heading to the new base construction site.”
After swallowing the sandwich, Song Lian picked up a tea egg and began to peel it. “The people remaining in the castle now, if nothing unexpected happens, are all those without awakened special abilities. This is the optimal time to make our move.”
Su Ling and her group going to the suburbs would require at least an hour of round-trip travel time, not including the time it would take to load the empty trucks with supplies.
Furthermore, Gu Shangse and his team were far from the castle, focusing on the construction of the new base, and wouldn’t be returning anytime soon.
The time available to them was more than sufficient.
Wen Shangyin held his coffee cup and looked at Song Lian, asking, “Is everything arranged?”
Song Lian nodded and downed the peeled tea egg in one gulp.
After swallowing the tea egg, Song Lian finally spoke, “Everything is ready. We await your command, and then we will act separately. Once Xu Yan succeeds, we will depart immediately.”
Upon achieving their objective, they would leave at once. By the time Su Ling and the others realized their base had been raided, they would have been traveling for a considerable distance.
Even if they pursued them, they wouldn’t be able to catch up.
Su Ling and her group’s immediate priority was the establishment of the new base, not their pursuit.
Even if they couldn’t stomach the loss and decided to chase them, they wouldn’t be worried. Song Lian had chosen a path Su Ling and her group wouldn’t anticipate.
In the imperial capital, their new base location, neither Third Master nor Fourth Master would know. Even if they reached the imperial capital, it would be in vain.
Wen Shangyin grunted and turned his head to look outside the tent. As he looked up, he could see Su Ling’s castle.
“I covet this mobile castle. If we could take it with us, it would undoubtedly be the greatest gain.” Having said this, Wen Shangyin looked at Song Lian. “But unfortunately, it can only remain a dream; it cannot be possessed.”
