Even his speed ability, which he usually prided himself on, proved ineffective against Wen Shangcheng.
Though he moved swiftly, Wen Shangcheng reacted just as quickly. He couldn't gain any advantage over Wen Shangcheng.
Sun Sui, repeatedly missing his targets and being struck by Wen Shangcheng's water ability, grew agitated.
Once a person becomes anxious, their focus wavers, and their composure crumbles. Sun Sui was no different.
If he had maintained his resolve and not faltered, Wen Shangcheng might have become his vanquished foe, and he would have emerged victorious.
However, Sun Sui lacked mental fortitude. After only a few exchanges with Wen Shangcheng, he began to show signs of apprehension.
Wen Shangcheng hurled a water ball, which Sun Sui couldn't evade. It struck his left shoulder directly.
Sun Sui glanced at his soaked left shoulder, then sharply turned his gaze towards Wen Shangcheng. Before his eyes even landed on Wen Shangcheng, another water ball hit half of his face.
It was unclear how, but the water balls Wen Shangcheng threw caused a burning pain upon contact with the skin.
Initially, the water balls had hit Sun Sui's body, protected by his clothes, so the pain was not significant.
Now, a water ball had directly struck his face. The half of his face that was hit felt as if it had been doused in acid.
Clutching his face, which burned with excruciating pain, Sun Sui began to feel a sense of fear and dread.
Despite his apprehension and fear, Sun Sui did not retreat. He continued to face Wen Shangcheng.
He instantly appeared before Wen Shangcheng, grabbing his hand and intending to break it.
Sensing Sun Sui's intention, Wen Shangcheng smiled at him, playing along. He effortlessly broke free from Sun Sui's grip, then seized Sun Sui's hand and snapped it.
A 'crack' echoed, followed by Sun Sui's pained cry.
After breaking Sun Sui's arm, Wen Shangcheng twisted it behind his back and tore off a piece of clothing to bind Sun Sui's injured arm.
With both of Sun Sui's hands secured, Wen Shangcheng kicked him in the rear.
The kick sent Sun Sui stumbling forward. He didn't get far before falling face-first onto the ground, landing like a dog eating mud.
Sun Sui lay on the ground, struggling to get up for a long time.
Meanwhile, Wen Shangcheng approached with the knife given by Chu Jin, placing it at Sun Sui's throat. He looked down at him, saying, "You lost. You and your people are finished."
After speaking, without waiting for Sun Sui to respond, Wen Shangcheng swiftly brought down the blade, ending Sun Sui's life.
After swiftly dispatching Sun Sui, Wen Shangcheng turned his gaze to the esper from the prison district. "Will you commit suicide, or will we have to do it for you?"
The esper from the prison district, having suffered heavy losses and lost their leader, became utterly cowardly upon hearing Wen Shangcheng's words. They immediately knelt down, begging for their lives.
Wen Shangcheng disdained these people. They preyed on the weak and committed all sorts of evil. They could not be allowed to live.
Shang Qi had spoken of a city-wide purge, and he always kept his word.
The esper from the prison district, under Xu Du's command, had killed many survivors and espers. To spare them would be to invite future trouble.
If they were to establish a survivor base in City A, they had to eliminate all potential threats within a hundred-mile radius.
Wen Shangcheng saw no point in wasting more words on the prison district espers. He turned back to Shang Qi with his knife, saying, "Third Brother, we can proceed with the purge. Once it's done, we can cross the city and retrieve the materials from the place Chu Jin mentioned."
Shang Qi looked at Chu Jin and said, "They offended you. It's fitting for you to settle this score."
At this point, Chu Jin understood that Shang Qi and Su Ling's actions were entirely for his revenge. He found himself liking his new companions even more.
"Alright," Chu Jin said without hesitation. He then looked at Wen Shangcheng, "Go get a few people to help."
Wen Shangcheng nodded with the knife in hand. "Understood."
