Wen Shangyin responded to Su Ling's question with a nod. "I am the eldest brother, and Shang Qi is the third. He has a second and fourth brother, but as we just mentioned, the two of them are no longer alive."
"Oh," Su Ling recalled Wen Shangsheng in the castle. That fourth brother was very much alive.
Her Shang Qi was truly becoming quite adept at telling outright lies.
This was Wen Shangyin's first interaction with Su Ling. He didn't understand Su Ling's temperament or the intention behind her sudden question.
After answering, he fell silent, quietly waiting for Su Ling to follow up.
Su Ling tilted her head, looking at Wen Shangyin. Her fair, lotus-root-like hand tugged at her hair. "Then, now, it's just you and Shang Qi left."
Wen Shangyin grunted, vaguely guessing what Su Ling was about to say.
But he had made the bold claim first, and he couldn't backtrack now without losing face.
Having received Wen Shangyin's repeated responses, Su Ling's objective was achieved. She then revealed her true intention. "Since only the two of you brothers are left, and your Wen family has a vast fortune, I don't think you'll be at a disadvantage by giving half to Shang Qi."
"Let it be this way. Your Wen family's assets will be split equally with Shang Qi, fifty-fifty. As long as you agree, I will agree on behalf of Shang Qi. We will stay far away, out of your sight, so you won't see us for the rest of your life."
Su Ling's demand was quite audacious.
However, it was precisely what Shang Qi deserved, and it wasn't greedy.
Shang Qi had initially wanted nothing, but because Wen Shangyin had gained an advantage and refused to let go, Su Ling became so 'excessive'.
When Su Ling spoke, Shang Qi's eyes were filled only with doting and tenderness.
As for Wen Shangyin, he was somewhat angered. He had expected Su Ling to say something, but he hadn't anticipated her directly asking for half of his family fortune. He couldn't accept that.
This incident made Wen Shangyin fully understand that Su Ling was not to be trifled with either.
Especially since Shang Qi indulged Su Ling's whims, making her utterly spoiled.
While others struggled to survive the apocalypse, these two joined forces to leave their enemies with nothing.
Despite her words, Su Ling was actually not interested in what she had asked for.
In this apocalypse, those possessions were merely for show; they were far less valuable than their current carefree existence.
Wen Shangyin didn't answer Su Ling directly. He looked at Shang Qi instead. "Do you feel the same way?"
He could see that neither Su Ling nor Shang Qi held him, the eldest brother, in any regard.
This indicated that their group was so formidable that they weren't afraid of a direct confrontation with him.
Called out, Shang Qi tilted his head slightly. He looked at Wen Shangyin, met his elder brother's gaze, and nodded. "I don't need it, but if Ah Ling needs it, I will do as she says."
This statement perfectly solidified Shang Qi's reputation as a doting husband.
Wen Shangyin raised his hand to his forehead, feeling that the matter was troublesome and headache-inducing.
If he were truly to give half his fortune to Shang Qi, Wen Shangyin would never agree.
If it were that easy to divide, he wouldn't have needed to relentlessly pursue Shang Qi.
Wen Shangyin had no intention of sharing his family fortune with Shang Qi; he intended to seize it all for himself.
Su Ling and Shang Qi both knew that Wen Shangyin was unwilling to part with it. Their words were merely intended to provoke him.
"What, you don't like it?" Su Ling interjected at the opportune moment. She looked at Wen Shangyin. "Eldest Brother just said to just speak my mind. I've spoken mine, so why are you speechless now?"
