“What happens if we don’t transfer?”
Su Ling looked at Shang Qi, asking seriously and earnestly.
Shang Qi gazed at Su Ling, remaining silent, his eyes fixed on her.
Su Ling knew he was using his ability to foresee what might occur.
Shang Qi soon came back to himself. He took Su Ling’s hand, his expression stern. “A’ling, we’re out of time. We must leave here, as soon as possible. After the tsunami hits, Hai Shang Island will be submerged, sinking to the seabed.”
Both Su Ling and Jiang Jiang were taken aback by Shang Qi’s words, never expecting their presumed safe haven to become so perilous.
The hail grew heavier, the sea wind stronger.
Su Ling surveyed their surroundings, her brow furrowed. “Shang Qi, how do we leave? The hail is so intense; our ship cannot withstand the battering from the falling ice. We’ll likely sink at sea with the ship before we even reach Lucheng Port.”
Whether staying on the island or leaving now, their predicament was dire.
Both options involved a gamble.
No!
Su Ling thought of her mobile fortress. She had wanted to upgrade it for a long time, but recent events had kept postponing the plan. She suddenly realized that perhaps, in the grand scheme of things, everything had already been arranged.
With this thought, Su Ling looked at Shang Qi. “I know what to do.”
Turning to Jiang Jiang, she said, “Jiang Jiang, you’re responsible for informing everyone of this news. Tell them to gather all the items they need and wait together in one place. Shang Qi and I will go upgrade the fortress.”
Jiang Jiang nodded at Su Ling’s instructions, and with Xiao Jiang, he turned and left.
Su Ling then looked back at Shang Qi, taking his hand without a word and heading towards the vegetable garden.
Upon reaching the garden, Su Ling confirmed no one was following them. She then said to Shang Qi, “I’ve never tried this before, and I don’t know if you can enter my space with me. But I need your help now, so we must try.”
Time was limited, leaving no room for lengthy explanations.
After speaking, Su Ling looked at Shang Qi. “I don’t know if there’s any danger. Are you willing to try?”
Shang Qi looked at Su Ling with loving gentleness. “I am willing.”
Su Ling took a deep breath, deciding to take the leap. She felt a pang of anxiety.
She held Shang Qi’s hand, closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she was no longer in the vegetable garden but inside her space, with Shang Qi beside her.
Su Ling had succeeded, and Shang Qi became the first person to enter her space.
Shang Qi, finding himself in a completely new place in the blink of an eye, guessed that this was the space Su Ling had mentioned.
Su Ling held Shang Qi’s hand and said, “I know you must be very curious now and have many questions for me. But I think now is not the time. Our priority is to complete the upgrade design for the mobile fortress.”
“I need your help. We’ll design the blueprints together, upgrade the fortress within the space, and then everyone will transfer to the mobile fortress. Once everything is stable, I will tell you about this space.”
Shang Qi longed to embrace his girl, but knowing it wasn’t the right time, he simply nodded, allowing Su Ling to lead him forward.
Su Ling led Shang Qi to the courtyard of her small house, to the bountiful garden. She pulled him down to sit, took out paper and pen, and looked at Shang Qi. “You draw out your ideas, and I’ll draw out mine. We’ll discuss and combine them to perfect the fortress upgrade.”
