Chapter 236 Soft Hands

The warehouse door was pushed open, revealing neither zombies nor survivors inside.

The warehouse was packed with goods. Besides the neatly arranged shelves filled with boxes of snacks, the floor was also covered in snack boxes, stacked layer upon layer, waiting for Su Ling to collect them.

Su Ling closed the warehouse door and began to transfer the snack boxes into her portable space.

After clearing out the warehouse, Su Ling emerged and proceeded to the adjacent store.

The next-door store was a boutique, filled with a dazzling array of merchandise.

Su Ling, sucking on a lollipop, left a trail of emptiness in her wake.

Following the boutique, she cleared out a maternity and infant store, an underwear shop, a cosmetics store, a skincare store, a men's clothing store, and a shoe store... Su Ling collected items until her hands were sore. Her final stop was a snack shop with a nostalgic, old Beijing style, reminiscent of the eighties and nineties.

Before even entering, Su Ling noticed a bicycle lying on its side by the entrance.

On the rear rack of the bicycle were a foam box labeled "Old Popsicle" and a skewer of candied hawthorn.

Due to the apocalypse, the bicycle had fallen, and the popsicle box and candied hawthorn had also tumbled to the ground.

Su Ling had finished her lollipop. Upon entering the store, her eyes immediately fell on the candied hawthorn.

She picked up a skewer of strawberry candied hawthorn, eating it as she put snacks into her space.

As she collected snacks, she thought that perhaps she should create a snack room within her castle, dividing it into different sections based on snack categories, and filling it with goodies for everyone to take freely.

When Su Ling finished collecting from the warehouse and returned to where Gu Shangse and the others were, they were busy collecting spirit stones.

Su Ling had essentially swept clean all the shops on both sides of the streets they had cleared of zombies, collecting everything that could be gathered.

After walking over, Su Ling pulled out several bottles of water from her backpack and handed them to everyone. She then placed the backpack on the clean ground and said, "Sit down and rest. Have some snacks before we continue."

This raid had been incredibly fruitful for Su Ling.

Hanhan and Yangyang had not accompanied them, remaining in the castle.

After several hours of training, coupled with the practice from the previous afternoon, the Bai siblings had made rapid progress.

Su Ling sat down, rummaged through her bag, and pulled out a packet of shrimp. She tore it open and ate the shrimp without bothering to peel them.

These shrimp came in packs of two, and Su Ling had bought them before the apocalypse; two packs had cost over ten yuan.

Now, they were in the store, and she had swept them into her space.

This street was both a night market street and a commercial street, lined with numerous shops of various kinds.

The reason no other survivors or ability users had come here was the overwhelming number of zombies.

Even after Su Ling and her group had cleared out some of them, a dense horde of zombies could still be seen stretching far down the street.

As a renowned online celebrity night market street in the country, its true glory unfolded at night. The crowds gathered each evening were as numerous as people celebrating New Year's Eve together.

Under the crush of such immense crowds, even the occasional survivor ultimately met a grim fate.

Despite the rich and tempting resource reserves in this area, survivors, with a clear understanding of their own capabilities, dared not risk becoming food for the zombies to search for supplies, even though they coveted them.

There was also the mutual suspicion and guardedness among survivors, as well as a sense of complacency.

Everyone was thinking of heading to survivor bases and didn't want to hoard too many supplies.

This was also why, when Su Ling and her group arrived in this popular online city, the large supermarket showed no signs of being plundered.

They all assumed the supermarket, with its high foot traffic and large zombie population, was too risky to enter.

Eating shrimp, Su Ling recalled her past life. Though she was weak, she would still charge out as the first person in the team to find supplies.

She couldn't guarantee she would return with a full load every time, but at least she wouldn't go hungry.

This was the early stage of the apocalypse. If they relied solely on robbing other survivors for sustenance, then as resources dwindled, would cannibalism become the norm?
