Soul Gaze!
With both pupils open, Duan Chen saw the blue heart flashing on one of the tentacles of the two humanoid octopuses through their bodies.
"Thousand Illusions Pandora: [Blade] Form!"
Duan Chen roared and activated his Swift Steps, rapidly approaching them.
"Roar—!"
The humanoid octopuses were not to be outdone, swinging their tentacles towards Duan Chen.
"Zing!"
Attacking while running, with enough energy left to deal with the remaining sea monsters, Wang Zihao was stunned.
"Instructor... so strong!"
"When will I ever have this kind of strength?"
Long Yi sighed.
Ni Ya glanced at him but said nothing.
He didn't want to shatter the young boy's confidence.
Duan Chen was an absolute monster.
With Soul Gaze activated, even the path ahead became clearer. Duan Chen didn't need to plan where to run; the route would clearly unfold before him.
Soon, he arrived in front of the first humanoid octopus.
A cold glint flashed on the ink-black blade!
"Zing!"
With a slight sound, the humanoid octopus let out a world-shattering wail and then slowly fell to the ground.
"Roar—!"
Sensing danger, the other humanoid octopus attacked Duan Chen recklessly.
"Sequence 016: [Fae Law!]"
Duan Chen stood his ground, and a golden stream of light shot out from his fingertip.
The stream of light pierced through the blue heart on the humanoid octopus's tentacle with lightning speed.
"Thump—!"
It was over.
Duan Chen calmly sheathed his blade.
"Gurgle gurgle!"
The mucus began to writhe violently again.
"No, don't..."
Intermittent sounds came from within.
"Sequence 035: [Dark Crow Tide!]"
"Boom!"
The mucus exploded into a pool of liquid. Duan Chen solved the problem from its root.
"Let's go."
He looked at Ni Ya.
"It's dealt with?"
"Yes, this thing is like an altar. Sea monsters can enter and exit the land through this pool, but it's unstable. Some sea monsters are attacked by the mucus when they emerge."
Duan Chen looked at a dead sea monster beside him. This one wasn't killed by him but was strangled into two halves and died by the mucus.
"I've never seen anything like this before."
Ni Ya curiously leaned closer.
"In some ways, these sea monsters are quite intelligent."
It's just that their intelligence doesn't seem to be used in the right places.
Duan Chen sneered and left with Ni Ya, leaving Long Yi and the others to clean up the battlefield in front of the temple.
He went to the abbot's room.
Upon entering the temple, he found that all the monks and young novices had left, gone who knew where. The abbot, however, was still calmly sitting in his room reciting scriptures.
Seeing Duan Chen arrive, the abbot's expression remained unchanged, and he continued to recite.
Duan Chen dared not disturb him and stood quietly beside him and Ni Ya, watching.
"Two warriors, please be seated."
"You... are too kind."
Duan Chen was not accustomed to being called a warrior.
The abbot waved his hand, indicating it was fine.
"Have the monsters at the temple entrance been dealt with?"
"Yes, they've all been cleared out."
Unexpectedly, the abbot shook his head, poured them both a cup of tea, and said calmly.
"No, they haven't been dealt with yet."
The two were startled.
"I foresee that Guangguang Temple will face a great calamity. The monsters from the underwater city are the source of this calamity, and you, Duan Chen, will be the one to avert it."
The abbot spoke word by word, his tone sincere.
"Me?"
Duan Chen pondered his words.
Could it be that the abbot was hinting that the sea monsters this time were very powerful? He had originally planned to hand over the entire mission to Wang Zihao and the others.
"That's right."
The abbot nodded.
"This is a part of your destiny, and it is also the tribulation of Guangguang Temple."
The more he spoke, the more confused Duan Chen became.

The abbot shook his head, quietly drank his tea, and said no more.
"Young friend."

The abbot coughed.

They couldn't possibly say they were thrown to Duan Chen by Apostle 01, could they?

Duan Chen remembered that he had never told him his name, nor had he introduced Ni Ya and Galoote, let alone their identities as apostles. Yet, this abbot seemed to know everything, sending a chill down his spine.
"Heh heh... It's alright if you don't want to answer, I have already seen it."
Seen?
The abbot raised his eyes and looked leisurely into the distance.
"I have a premonition that this calamity will bring about some changes, and that change will be positive for you."
He looked at Duan Chen again.
A positive change? A good change?
Duan Chen and Ni Ya left the abbot's room, both utterly bewildered.
After the two of them left, the abbot sighed.
"Fate, it's all fate."
It was his fate, Duan Chen's fate, and the fate of the entire world.
"The future will always arrive... Young warriors, take some time to adjust, and then set out..."
