Chapter 24: Multipule Shades of White
"Li Chen, what are you doing? Let go of him."
I grabbed the collar of the blond-haired boy.
"Wow, really got a lot of strength for a 5-year-old kid. Now, let go of me before I lose my temper."
Well. My mood has been off since I joined this academy. I can’t take it anymore. It’s your bad luck that you came at the wrong time.
"Fuck off!"
That guy grabbed my hand; His hands were icy cold, almost freezing my blood.
"You two let go of each other."
As others tried to interfere, orange flames covered both of us, making others halt.
Bright orange flames burst in whole, but instead of burning down the whole room, all flames compressed and wrapped around the blond boy, burning his white skin into scorched black.
"Aaa... Aaa..."
"Principal sir, what should we do? What is happening here?"
"Li Chen, stop it. Let it go, I will deal with your matter first."
I let go of the half-burned blond-haired guy before turning to the principal.
Well, if you had listened to me earlier, it wouldn’t have happened, and improve trash academy, it won’t be long before...
I walked out of the principal’s office, and I tossed a fireball inside before slamming the door shut.
"Young Master, what happened inside is everything fine."
Of course, everything is fine now. I should go to the cafeteria for my evening snacks.
We went straight to the cafeteria, but there wasn’t even a single student present. I sat on the chair waiting for my snacks.
As I was waiting for my snacks, a group of people entered the cafeteria, coming straight towards our seats.
"Li..."
I still haven’t gotten snacks.
"What... I’m sorry, just a second."
The old principal quickly went to get my snacks. While the other three stood in front of me.
"Little Brother Chen, your fire is really mythical. It can burn and heal at the same time."
The blond here boy spoke, the one whom I just taught a lesson in the principal’s office.
Hmph
They continued standing there staring at me with a smiley face, and in a minute, the old principal also came with some cream buns.
"I am really sorry, just do with it today, from tomorrow, the cafeteria will have evening snacks."
I took the bun from his hand, gave it a bite, they don’t look fresh at all, but the taste was good, so I decided to slide this matter aside after all, I have to maintain my benevolent emperor’s image.
What are you all staring at now fuck off.
...
After this small incident, everything became much easier. These so-called teachers no longer bothered me much, and I also got snacks.
No, this place no longer felt like trash, but more like this emperor’s personal playground with lots of poor kids.
Daily classes continued as usual, the world becoming more and more bland, and likely colors had vanished with time.
Time continued to pass...
All the colors vanished, replaced by the white blanket of snow. With all the changes happening outside, nothing has changed in reality.
This feeling of loss, or feeling of being alive, both are the same for me.
I sat under the same tree in the ground, which was once filled with green leaves, now covered in white snow.
"Young Master..."
What?
"Chen Jing... her mother had died in cold today, the teacher came to inform us."
Oh...
This Chen Jing is the name of the sick girl who had been following me behind for the past few months.
I stood up and slowly walked towards the teacher’s office. Leaving behind my footprint on the snowy path, a path to life, or a path to death, whichever you take, the results are the same.
Fatty quickly led the way forward, while I leisurely followed behind, walking past multiple students, teachers, and guards.
We stood in front of the huge golden gate, outside lay a woman’s dead body, old, fragile, and her body was frozen in the cold.
I walked towards them, my steps slow. Looking at the frozen body and hearing the girl’s crying, I felt the colors still hadn’t vanished completely.
After watching her crying for a while, I decided to end it all. I threw a fireball at the corpse, burning her frozen body in orange flame amid a world wrapped in white. Nothing seems to belong to this world.
The girl crying pierced through my ears as I turned away, walking back into my dorm.
As I was walking alone in this chaotic world in silence, a cold breeze from the north hit my face.
This...
I turned to the north, far away, long mountain ranges were clearly visible, covered in a white blanket of snow. I gave a slight smile before moving forward.
’Things are getting interesting again, maybe I will get to play again.’
The old wind brushing past Li Chen travelled through multiple mountains and cities, hitting the girl’s face who stood on the edge of the mountain’s tip, covered in snow, beside her stood another woman in white.
The girl at the edge seems to be lost in thought before a voice intervenes.
"Li Qing, what are you thinking?"
"Nothing..."
In the far east.
A merchant caravan was moving towards the big city. An old man sat inside a carriage with a beautiful woman; she was wearing simple clothes and looked ordinary, but there was a strange kind of attraction she was carrying.
The woman looked outside the carriage and spoke in a low voice.
"I hope Chen’er would be alright, the weather is becoming colder day by day."
Hearing the woman’s concern, the old man spoke.
"We can’t do anything about him; he’s got all that he wanted, knows his destiny, doesn’t allow him to be with us, and it’s best for all of us. The day he was born, we spoiled him so much that even on the first day of joining, he made a lot of enemies."
"We have failed as parents; it’s best to let him live on his own. I don’t think he would care if he doesn’t find us at home when he comes back. It’s best for him if we have different lives."
The woman looked outside from the carriage at the falling snow. As the carriage moved forward on the snowy path.
A bit far away from there, in the Blue Rose City, sat a boy inside a luxurious restaurant with a black dog, who was enjoying his meal. As the boy continued looking at the corner of his eye at the table next to them, where sat a small group of people.
Suddenly, the black dog stopped eating and looked in the north direction before continuing to eat.
Far away in the north, thousands of mountain ranges, a giant mountain stood tall, its tip piercing into the clouds.
Above the mountain top, there was a grand palace made up of shining crystals. It was completely out of the world; the clouds surrounding it gave a feeling of an untouchable, sacred place far from the mortal realm.
Inside the palace, there stood a woman wearing a light blue robe, staring at the mirror, looking at herself as if she were looking at completely strange things.
Her eyes were blue, like they were made up of crystals; her skin was like made of milk, too white to be called human, and her lips were completely dark blue, like frozen in cold.
She continued to stand at her place, staring at the mirror like a statue, but inside the mirror, there wasn’t the image of a woman that appeared; it was a 5-year-old girl crying, with an orange fire burning in front of her.
As the fire burned, a spark of life seemed to appear in the woman’s eyes. At the same time, the crying girl seemed to freeze in her place. There were no more tears in her eyes, but a cold and distant look. A feeling of detachment or inhuman touch, just like a woman in the palace.
The girl gave a long look at the huge golden gates in front of her before a gust of wind blew past, and everything vanished. No fire, no girl, the only thing that remained there was just white snow.
’Well, everyone is showing their true colors, what should I do about it?. Should I feel sad, or should I be happy, or...’
Hey, system, any suggestions?
Host, it is the karma, making yourself detached from them is impossible, even for the heavenly dao. It may not affect you, but your action definitely would affect them.
Whatever, let’s enjoy. Now that the chaotic elements are gone, I should have fun like before.
I lay on the bed waiting for Fatty’s arrival. After some time, Fatty and the other entered the room behaving as usual, like nothing had changed. No one noticed the empty bed.
After this, Fatty and I went to the cafeteria, but there was no one following us.
