Chapter 35: Mist Of No Return

Chapter 35: Mist Of No Return

The next morning, our carriage was passing through the forest, tugged by a black bull instead of horses. I looked at the bull, which was doing its work quite efficiently, then looked at Little Black, who sat at the side.

I had asked him to find a good horse, and the next morning this mf came with a black bull.

What are you staring at?

Smash...

Awo...

Hmph!

"Young Master, it’s not a big deal, and this bull is much faster than our previous horses."

I looked outside at the bull; he was really much faster than my previous horses.

The carriage was moving at a fast pace, passing through an unknown forest. Though I don’t know where we are heading, that’s what makes the journey interesting.

"Young Master, look, there are people in front."

I looked in front, and there stood a few carriages, blocking the way forward. When my carriage reached them, I decided to talk nicely without causing any trouble. I jumped down from the carriage, heading towards the group.

Hey, I need to go forward.

I looked at the man who looked like have the most authority in the group. His body was the bulkiest among all these people, looking something like a gangster.

Instead of his reply, a voice came inside from the carriage.

"Little guy, it’s not like we’re blocking the road to cause trouble, but the path ahead has been covered in mist."

So, what move to the side, I have to go forward.

"Little Guy, let me ask you a question? Have you ever heard about the Mist of No Returns?"

No, now give me way forward or...

"Hmph, do as you wish?"

They remove the carriage from the way. I also went back to my carriage, moving forward in the path.

I looked at the woman who was sitting in front, carrying Little Black in her arms.

Have you ever heard about Mist of No Return?

"No, I haven’t."

Oh

"Young Master, why did you ask?"

Nothing, just heard a name though about asking.

As our carriage moves forward, I notice a white mist has started surrounding our carriage. As we move forward, the mist continues to thicken.

"Young Master, this..."

Ignore it.

I lay on the carriage, silently falling asleep. While the carriage continued to move.

Just a second after I felt something sticky on my face, when I opened my eyes, I saw Little black standing in front licking my face. I stood up, lazily looking at the woman who had also fallen asleep. When I looked outside, I saw the bull was also lying on the ground. It too was sleeping when I looked at the surroundings; everything was completely white.

As I was observing the surroundings, a scream came from inside the carriage. I quickly went to check in. The woman was screaming, tears falling down her face.

Fuck, what happened to her?

I went closer to her, placing my hand gently on her forehead, using Origin Flames to relax her body.

After a few seconds, her body completely relaxed, as she slowly opened her eyes, when she saw me in front of her, she hugged me tightly and again started crying.

"Everyone... everyone... is dead... I... I... really the worst mother."

It’s not your fault, forget it. You don’t have a choice. Move forward past is past. Just accept it, not as guilt but just as the past.

After a few minutes, she finally calmed down.

Are you ok, now?

"Hm, I am sorry."

For what?

"..."

Hey, look outside, don’t you find this place beautiful?

"Where are... We."

Well, it’s another fun place.

In the meantime, Little Black has also woken up that lazy bull; we continued our journey in this mist. Not knowing the direction.

We travelled for a few hours, but the mist still remained the same, only white, nothing else. Luckily, before I did anything crazy, I saw an outline figure in this white world, though they too were white, they seemed alive, moving, not fixed like this white place. We headed closer to them.

Once arrived closer to the white figure, I saw there weren’t only one but thousands of them, their body being transparent like ghosts, yet not the same, seeing us, these figures quickly jumped at us only to be forced back by Little Back’s howl.

We were facing the hordes of these white ghosts, as I was planning to end them. I saw a white figure, coming forward slightly differently from others, yet the same, cause I don’t find any difference, but felt like so.

I stood in front of us, speaking in the human language.

"Kid, how is the outside world?"

What do you mean?

"We are all humans from outside like you, but because of the white mist corruption, we turned into this. It’s not just physical changes, but our minds are also being corrupted continuously."

But I feel like, except for you, all of them have already lost their mind, why only you survive. Could it all be you doing? Let me tell you, I don’t like petty games.

"Kid, I survived cause I was only a step away from the True Immortal realm. I came here in hopes of getting to Immortal destiny, but ... all in vain. Still, you may not believe me. Look at the sky, you will know."

When I looked above, I saw a white place which I hadn’t seen when I previously took a glance, but now it was floating above the sky, giving me some kind of familiar feeling.

"Young Master, this palace..."

Hm, just like that purple one.

I turned to the white figure, my eyes cold.

Tell me the truth, or die.

I summoned the Origin flames, and all these white ghosts started running away except that special white one, who stood there, his body shaking.

"Senior, forgive me, I will tell you the truth."

Stop acting and speak.

"I came here for immortal destiny, but it was already taken by someone else. Now, he is inside the palace trying to break through into the True Immortal realm."

And who this guy is.

"I... I don’t know, but I had a guess. She must be the White Ghost from the Nine Nether Sect."

White Ghost from the Nine Nether Sect, never heard of it.

"How could you not have heard of Nine Nether Sect. It is the strongest Demonic Sect in the Whole realm; many of their leaders have already ascended to the True Immortal realm. If not for their legacy being stolen by Skeleton King, the White Ghost wouldn’t even need to come here for a breakthrough."

Well, it has nothing to do with me. Go tell that white ghost to give me a way out, and she can continue whatever she is doing.
