Chapter 307: Chapter 307: We’re Engaged
"Sorry, your card can’t be used."
When Justin Callahan tried to pay with his card, the server handed it back to him.
"Can’t be used?" Justin frowned and took another card out of his pocket.
"Try this one."
But after trying again, the server still smiled apologetically, "Sorry, this one can’t be used either."
"What’s going on?"
He hadn’t damaged these cards, how could they not work?
Could it be...
Just as a certain answer was coming to mind, the server chuckled and spoke again, "Today’s total is fifteen thousand seven. How about paying in cash?"
If he could pay in cash, Justin would have liked to.
But the problem was, he thought cash took up too much space, so when he came to Westmarch, he hadn’t brought a single penny with him.
At this moment, Justin felt as if the server and his newly found date were mocking him inwardly for not being able to pay for the meal.
The ever self-proclaimed extraordinary Master Callahan had never faced such an embarrassing situation before.
His face reddened as he attempted to borrow money from his friends.
But when he contacted a few buddies, some said they couldn’t transfer funds, others said their phones didn’t have payment apps installed.
Of course, some plainly told Justin, "Your dad gave us a heads up, not to lend you a penny, or else we risk all business relations being severed."
Hearing his suspicion confirmed by others left Justin seething with anger.
He attempted to have a friend cover the bill for him, to resolve the pressing crisis, hoping to maneuver the rest later.
However, no friend would lend even a dime.
After all, maintaining family collaborations smoothly was more important than Justin Callahan’s goodwill.
"Justin, you should listen to your dad’s advice. Better to lay low now to fight another day."
His friend hung up, leaving Justin expressionless, like a living corpse.
Then, his date realized Justin hadn’t borrowed the money and immediately taunted, "Pretending to be a rich kid to treat others when you’re broke? Disgusting, isn’t it?"
"Yeah, I’m just pretending to be a rich kid. You ate over half of this meal, so you should cover half the cost."
With nowhere left to turn, Justin decided to just let it all go to shambles.
His date, who only came from a place of frivolity, intended to cash in from Justin.
But rather than her gaining any money, Justin was trying to get money from her?
Fat chance!
She immediately took her bag and smashed it on Justin’s head with a bang.
"I’ve been out in the world for years and never met anyone as shameless as you."
"You dare hit me? You slut!"
Except for July Quinn, no woman had ever hit Justin, so his anger boiled over, and he ended up in a scuffle with the woman.
The restaurant manager, seeing that the two couldn’t pay and were now fighting, had no choice but to call the police.
After such a ruckus, Justin was left physically and mentally exhausted.
He realized that without the Callahan Family, he was nothing.
In the end, he called home to compromise.
When he came out of the police station, Nina Quinn was standing at the door waiting for him.
"Nina, why are you here?" Wasn’t she supposed to be in the hospital protecting the pregnancy?
"I got a call saying you were taken to the police station, so I rushed over."
Seeing him in such a disheveled and desperate state, Nina Quinn looked heartbroken.
"I’m sorry, Justin. It’s my fault, dragging you into this mess."
Nina wiped away nonexistent tears and said, "I’ll hold a press conference when I get back, saying all of this has nothing to do with you, it was all my one-sided wish."
With the woman sobbing, generally, the man would comfort her by holding her in his arms.
But Justin only sighed and said, "Forget it."
If she explained further, his reputation as a scumbag would be cemented.
Nina Quinn was left speechless.
What was she supposed to say now?
The next second, unexpectedly, Justin proposed, "Nina, let’s get engaged."
"Justin, are you accepting our baby?"
"Yes, Esteria TV will announce our engagement later, please cooperate."
The man’s tiredness couldn’t be hidden from his eyes and brows.
Nina Quinn was stunned for less than two seconds before she excitedly threw herself into Justin’s arms: "Thank you, Justin."
In the corner where Justin couldn’t see, she curled her lips triumphantly.
Even if it was clear Justin didn’t truly want to marry her, it didn’t matter to her.
Because what she wanted was simply to marry into the Callahan Family...
