Chapter 526: Chapter 526: Sending Him Home
After Victor Hawthorne’s confession failed, he didn’t head straight back to the dorm but rode his new motorcycle, wandering alone in the city.
Watching the bustling pedestrians and the sudden overcast sky, his mood was utterly despondent.
But it seemed that the heavens just loved to tease him.
He had planned to ease the anxiety and restlessness in his heart by enjoying the evening breeze.
Who would have thought that as soon as he turned onto the road near Apex Tower, bean-sized raindrops began to fall from the sky?
One by one, they landed on his face, stinging him sharply.
In a daze, it seemed something warm was sliding from his eye sockets.
But ultimately, all these merged into the rain, making it impossible to distinguish what it truly was.
Victor simply parked his motorcycle by the roadside, squatting alone under a tree.
The feeling was like being a deserted puppy.
Just then, an umbrella covered Victor Hawthorne’s head.
Feeling something amiss above him, as he looked up, he saw July Quinn standing in front of him, holding the umbrella for him.
He was taken aback: "July, what are you doing here?"
He remembered July Quinn saying she had something urgent and left after the competition ended.
How could it be that right after his confession was rejected, July Quinn appeared?
Could it be she’s here to see him humiliated?
But under his uneasy speculation, July Quinn said expressionlessly:
"If I don’t come over, I feel like you’ll get struck by lightning and die."
Victor Hawthorne frowned, somewhat bewildered.
July Quinn: "It’s common sense not to stand under a tree during a thunderstorm."
She was standing at the entrance of the under-renovation clinic when she spotted Victor Hawthorne squatting under the tree and quickly brought an umbrella over.
Victor looked up at the tree above him, coming to a sudden realization.
Turns out, July Quinn simply didn’t have the bad intention to mock him; she just didn’t want to see him get struck by lightning and die.
Even though he knew other people couldn’t distinguish between rain and tears, Victor Hawthorne quickly wiped his face.
Seeing him still cluelessly not moving from under the tree, July Quinn spoke with disdain: "Get up, I’ll take you home."
"You’re taking me home?"
In the dramas Victor Hawthorne had watched, it was usually the guys taking the girls home; he had never seen girls take guys home.
So now he looked at July Quinn with an expression like he discovered a new continent.
But July Quinn didn’t waste any words on him and directly got on his motorcycle.
"Which one is the accelerator and which one is the brake on your motorcycle?"
Victor Hawthorne’s face turned puzzled.
It couldn’t be, did July Quinn really not even know the difference between the accelerator and brake, but planned to drive him home?
Yet whether it was July Quinn’s intimidating aura or the huge blow from being rejected for the eighth time today, Victor Hawthorne still told July Quinn which was the accelerator and the brake on his motorcycle.
After learning which handle was the accelerator on the motorcycle, July Quinn looked disdainful: "What kind of crappy bike is this, looking so flashy."
"This is the latest Night Owl model; I pre-ordered it from abroad for three months to finally get my hands on it."
Victor Hawthorne thought July Quinn didn’t understand motorcycles, so he thought she was ignorant in mocking his new precious toy.
"Hurry up, after I take you home, I have to come back to supervise the construction."
Too lazy to argue further, July Quinn directly put on her helmet, handing the other pink helmet to Victor Hawthorne.
But Victor Hawthorne felt a bit awkward.
Actually, the pink helmet was intended for him to give to Joy Quinn if his confession succeeded today.
He didn’t expect July Quinn to hand him the helmet instead.
For a grown man to wear such a girly pink?
Yet July Quinn didn’t wait for him to finish his inner turmoil before urging: "Hurry up?"
In the end, under her overbearing influence, Victor Hawthorne put on the pink helmet and sat on the back seat...
