Chapter 336 Song Ni Felt Unwell

On the way back, Song Ni made calls, trying everyone she could think of who might be connected to Vivian. Still, there was no news. It was only when she returned home that Song Ni remembered to check her email. Five days ago, Vivian had sent her a message, saying she wanted to get away for a while and had chosen email to avoid worrying her. Seeing this email finally put Song Ni's mind at ease. Her tense nerves relaxed, giving way to the realization that something was wrong with her body. Nausea. Song Ni frowned, washed her face, and drank some cold water, which made her feel a little better. Looking in the mirror, she saw that her face was thinner, her features more pronounced, the cuteness and childishness gone, replaced by a cooler demeanor. She patted her cheeks, admitting to herself that she was too thin. While she looked good, she felt she had lost her former liveliness. Song Ni knew her own physical condition best. She understood that her body had been out of sorts lately, easily fatigued, her nerves frayed, and that even minor issues could make her irritable. She needed to find time to see a doctor. That's what Song Ni thought. Just then, Tan Zheng returned. Song Ni's complexion was poor; her usually rosy lips were now somewhat pale. She met Tan Zheng's furrowed brow and concerned gaze. "Why are you back so early?" The man didn't answer. Instead, he stepped forward and touched Song Ni's slightly cold face, his brow furrowing further. "Your face is so cold." Song Ni grabbed Tan Zheng's hand and nestled her face affectionately in his palm. "I guess I was a bit sunstruck from the stress, but I'm fine now." Tan Zheng had heard from the driver about Song Ni's search for Vivian and her calls in the car, which was why he had returned. "Let's go to the hospital," he said, taking Song Ni's hand and starting to lead her out. Song Ni stood still, unwilling to go. "I'm so tired. Just let me rest at home." She wasn't sure what was wrong with her, but it didn't feel simple. She didn't want to distract Tan Zheng at this crucial time. With that in mind, Song Ni emphasized again, "Really, I'm just exhausted. I just need to rest." Seeing the exhaustion in Song Ni's eyes, Tan Zheng didn't insist. He carried her to bed and sat by her side, watching her sleep. After Song Ni fell asleep, Tan Zheng went to his study and called Dr. Xu in China. Song Ni's symptoms weren't severe, and from Tan Zheng's description, they did seem to be caused by the recent weather and the accumulation of various stressful events. "However, if you're still worried, you can still get her checked at the hospital. She usually seems to be in good health, so why has she gotten like this? Haven't you been taking good care of her?" He had done more than not take good care of her; during his preparations for the competition, Song Ni had often been the one taking care of him. Thinking this, the man felt a pang of regret. He hadn't fulfilled his duties as a husband; he had been negligent. It was still early, so Tan Zheng went downstairs intending to cook himself. He asked the housekeeper what kind of food would be good for Song Ni in her condition. The housekeeper suggested a light, cooling soup. Tan Zheng had never made it before, so he followed the housekeeper's instructions. After finishing the meal, he went upstairs and found Song Ni still sleeping soundly. She seemed to be having a bad dream, her brow furrowed tightly. Tan Zheng's heart ached as he watched her. He reached out and smoothed her brow. By the time Song Ni woke up, it was already ten o'clock at night. It seemed she was catching up on all the sleep she had missed. Tan Zheng was working by the bedside, and almost as soon as Song Ni woke up, he noticed. He put down his computer. "You're awake?" Now that she had slept enough, Song Ni felt much more energetic and nodded. Tan Zheng leaned over and helped her up, then picked up the water placed nearby and offered it to her. Song Ni drank more than half of it and let out a long sigh, feeling as if she had come back to life. "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?" Song Ni nodded. Tan Zheng leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'll go heat up the food first. You can come down later." Song Ni then realized she had slept for five full hours and that it was completely dark outside. She took a quick shower and then picked up her phone, only to find that Vivian had replied to her message. Wanting to ensure Song Ni wouldn't find her, Vivian had informed her of her vacation plans and added a request for Song Ni not to look for her. Song Ni knew Vivian's character; she was someone who brought happiness to others while bearing her own sorrows alone. This must have been a significant blow to Vivian, and Song Ni didn't know how long she would be gone. Going downstairs, she saw that none of the food on the table had been touched, and Song Ni's brows furrowed slightly. "You haven't eaten either?" Tan Zheng smiled, served the last dish, wiped his hands, and then touched her face. Feeling the warmth, he raised his hand and ruffled her hair. "I was waiting for you. I just had some company matters to attend to." Song Ni held his hand and squeezed it. "Do you think you're a robot? Leave the group's affairs to An. You just focus on preparing for the competition." Tan Zheng, instead of being chastised, smiled and pinched Song Ni's nose. "You're lecturing me now. You've been running around so much lately that you've become so thin." Song Ni swatted his hand away and wrinkled her nose. "Isn't it just that I'm finally going to see your race live, and I'm too excited?" More importantly, she felt she was finally getting closer to the passionate and powerful Tan Zheng she admired. Just as Tan Zheng had accompanied her to the UK to pursue her dream, she wanted to be there for him as he pursued his passion for racing. She wanted to stand at the finish line and crown him. Song Ni's eyes lit up when she saw the familiar dishes on the table. "Did you cook today?" Tan Zheng first scooped a bowl of soup for her. "Try it. See if my skills have regressed." It had been quite some time since Song Ni had eaten Tan Zheng's cooking. Now, with a table full of her favorite dishes, her appetite was stimulated. However, the soup was something new. Song Ni took a large sip, finding the taste a bit strange. "What kind of soup is this?" "Mung bean and lotus seed pigeon soup." Song Ni rarely drank pigeon soup. She was generally healthy and didn't often consume tonics, so the taste was somewhat unusual for her, though not entirely unpleasant. Still, Song Ni could only manage one bowl. Tan Zheng's cooking, while not necessarily more delicious than the housekeeper's, felt more satisfying to Song Ni because of the personal touch. Seeing her enjoyment, Tan Zheng's eyes crinkled with a smile. "Eat more if you like it. You've lost so much weight. I'll cook for you from now on." Hearing this, Song Ni quickly refused. "Don't even think about it. You need to prepare for the competition; it's only a week away. You can cook for me after the race. If you eat like this every day, you'll make me fat as a pig!" Tan Zheng knew that Song Ni had been worried about his competition, so he didn't press the issue. He was, however, already planning what dishes he would cook to help Song Ni gain some weight after the race. Eating so late, it was unlikely they would go to bed early. Strangely, though, Song Ni, who had already slept for five hours, fell asleep again after her meal.
