Chapter 8 Tan Shen's Retirement Might Not Be Simple

Chapter 8 Tan Shen's Retirement Might Not Be Simple

Qin Yang and Cheng Ling finally realized Song Ni was nowhere to be seen, and also saw several missed calls on her phone. But when they tried calling again, the phone was already switched off. By the time they finally found the fox tent, Song Ni had already begun to treat her wounds.

Qin Yang's brows furrowed as she looked at the wound on Song Ni's leg. "How did you do that?"

Song Ni raised her hand to touch her nose, vaguely saying, "I just fell." Even though they were close friends, she didn't really want to tell them how she fell; it was too embarrassing.

Cheng Ling noticed the wound on Song Ni's hand and quickly pulled her wrist, raising an eyebrow. "You fell pretty hard, didn't you?" Though his words held a hint of teasing, he immediately took out gauze from the first-aid kit and began to bandage Song Ni's hand. Strangely enough, among the three of them, Cheng Ling, the big guy, was the most skilled at bandaging wounds.

Song Ni looked at the butterfly knot tied on the back of her hand and her eyes curved. "Dr. Cheng's bandaging skills are getting better and better!"

Cheng Ling snorted. He was a psychologist, and yet because these two were such clumsy people, he had to do these kinds of chores. "Your skin is so delicate, who knows how long it will take to fully heal. How did you fall like this?"

Song Ni shrugged, unwilling to say more. Qin Yang, meanwhile, surveyed the tent. "Did you come here by yourself?" She didn't believe Song Ni would casually go to someone else's territory to find a first-aid kit. With her proud nature, she would have gotten up where she fell and then called them to wait.

"Someone saw me and brought me over." Qin Yang's eyes widened. "Someone from fox? Could it be Tan Shen?" The race car drivers and navigators were all participating in the race, and the others were watching from the sidelines.

Song Ni's heart skipped a beat as she thought of the man's deep dark eyes and his body temperature. She raised her hand to touch her earlobe. "Not sure." Then she tapped her chin with her finger. "He's very tall, with a great build, and... quite handsome."

Qin Yang gasped. If all these things combined, and he was also from fox, it was highly likely to be Tan Shen! Seeing Qin Yang's reaction, Song Ni couldn't help but laugh. "He just went out, probably to watch the race. If you go now, you might run into him." Song Ni had a hidden agenda; Qin Yang was Tan Zheng's fan. Even if she hadn't heard any news about him for years, seeing him would let her know if it was him.

"Babe, shall I go ahead?" After saying that, she seemed to feel a bit disingenuous and looked at Song Ni's injuries. "Go ahead. We'll wait for you in the car." As soon as she finished speaking, Qin Yang had already bolted out.

Cheng Ling had just finished tidying up the first-aid kit and snorted. "You're in your twenties, still acting like a little girl chasing after idols."

Hearing this, Song Ni raised her eyebrows and looked at his displeased expression, amused. Song Ni had always seen through others. When they were younger, Cheng Ling's relationship with them wasn't as close as it was now. They only became closer in high school, and she knew exactly why. It was just that Yang Yang was silly.

Cheng Ling's feelings about car racing were not much different from Song Ni's, and neither of them intended to watch any longer. Song Ni extended her hand, smiling. "Would Dr. Cheng mind carrying me?"

Cheng Ling resignedly crouched down in front of Song Ni. When they got to the car, he finally asked about the phone. Song Ni instinctively reached for her pocket; it was empty. Oh, she remembered, the phone was in that person's pocket.

Cheng Ling thoughtfully observed Song Ni's expression and finally asked the question that had been bothering him for days. "What do you think about that person from the Tan family?"

Song Ni understood what Cheng Ling was thinking. Yang Yang was too obsessed with racing in high school. Now that she and Tan Zheng were arranged for a blind date by their families, there was a possibility of them interacting again. Cheng Ling's worry was undoubtedly whether Yang Yang's like for Tan Zheng would turn into romantic love. But she knew it was purely admiration and love for an idol, devoid of gender or romance. As for her opinion of Tan Zheng... if the man just now was indeed Tan Zheng, she could only say that she was starting to look forward to Friday.

Thinking of this, Song Ni slightly curled her lips. "Quite interesting." Her words were vague, but Cheng Ling understood. If Song Ni wasn't against dating Tan Zheng, and if Tan Zheng felt the same, then the alliance between the two families wouldn't have any problems. This circle was like that; marriage involved too many things, and love was the least valued one. If the two could not dislike each other, they would have already reached the threshold for marriage. If they could like each other, it would be a beautiful story.

Cheng Ling secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He knew he shouldn't think this way, but if Song Ni married Tan Zheng, it would indeed remove a thorn in his side.

The rain seemed to have stopped. Song Ni rolled down all the car windows and looked towards the race track. Beyond the highlands and crowds, she couldn't see anything else, nor could she see that tall figure. She wondered if Yang Yang had found him.

Qin Yang returned about half an hour later. The sky was dim and overcast. Song Ni had almost fallen asleep while waiting. She lifted her heavy eyelids and saw Qin Yang's flushed face and the smile on her lips. Song Ni instantly felt much more awake. "Did you see him?" Her voice had become hoarse at some point. Song Ni's eyebrows moved slightly, and she coughed a few times. "I saw him, I saw him, Nini. After not seeing him for years, Tan Shen is just too handsome!"

Back at the spectator area, Qin Yang had been looking for Tan Zheng. He wasn't wearing the fox team uniform, but his build and aura were truly hard to ignore. She stood a few meters away from Tan Zheng, staring at him. It wasn't that she was afraid to approach, but after years of seeing her childhood idol again, she suddenly felt a sense of daze. However, her gaze was too direct and intense, and Tan Zheng noticed her.

The man looked over with a casual air. Upon seeing Qin Yang's face, he paused. His memory was good; he recognized her as the friend who had picked up Song Ni that night. Qin Yang excitedly stepped forward, probably too excited to think before speaking. "Tan Shen, I'm your fan! I've always hoped you would return to the race track!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Qin Yang knew she had said the wrong thing. No one knew the reason for Tan Zheng's retirement back then, but it was definitely something personal and sensitive. Tan Zheng's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes turned a little colder. Thinking of this, Qin Yang's demeanor instantly calmed down. "Nini, Tan Shen's retirement back then might not have been simple at all."

Song Ni froze for a moment and instinctively began tapping her leg with her fingers. She didn't feel the pain even when she touched her wound. She recalled the yellow earth and the splashing mud from the speeding race cars. When Tan Zheng was young, he was also so unrestrained and arrogant. Song Ni then thought of the man's hands. The veins on the back of his hands were very sexy. She suddenly wondered what it would be like when those hands were driving.

So Song Ni made a phone call home after returning. She agreed to the blind date on Friday and made a request that was not really a request. She wanted Tan Zheng to pick her up from school.
