Chapter 44 Preparing to Flee

"Okay, I'll give it to you."

Ning Beichen walked a few steps to a trash can, opened it, and took out a briefcase containing documents.

"Open the case," the enemy, holding a gun to Liu Yilin's head, demanded.

Ning Beichen opened the briefcase, revealing the files and chips inside.

"Very good, now close the briefcase and bring it to me."

The enemy's eyes gleamed with insatiable greed. Once he had the case, he wouldn't care even if all his companions died.

However, he remained wary, keeping the gun pressed to Liu Yilin's head and his finger on the trigger, threatening to blow her brains out if Ning Beichen dared to make a move.

"Hand over the case," the man yelled at Ning Beichen.

Ning Beichen handed the case to him.

The moment the man's attention wavered, Ning Beichen's finger moved like a blade, instantly slashing across the man's arm.

The man felt his arm go numb, an unbearable ache spreading through it. The weapon pointed at Liu Yilin dropped, and more alarmingly, the man found himself paralyzed, unable to control his limbs, as if he were a stroke victim.

He then saw Yu Sheng's cold, merciless face, etched with disdain, contempt, and even disgust.

A single finger pressed against his throat, and the bone shattered like an eggshell. Soon, a cold wind rushed into his throat. His throat itched, and he desperately wanted to cough, but he couldn't.

After a short while, his consciousness began to blur, a strange sensation, like traversing a long temporal tunnel. Then, he collapsed.

"It's alright now."

Ning Beichen said to Liu Yilin.

Liu Yilin let out a scream and then tightly embraced Ning Beichen, her body trembling. Her scalp still hurt from being violently yanked by the man earlier.

"Don't be afraid, it's over, it's over," Ning Beichen soothed her.

After all, she was just a girl. Ning Beichen couldn't expect her to be as calm as he was.

After Ning Beichen's comforting words, Liu Yilin's emotions gradually stabilized. She quickly left the place with Ning Beichen.

However, as they were about to return to the hotel, the beautiful Countess found them in advance, bringing them some bad news.

"Ning Beichen, the airport in Las Vegas has been suddenly sealed off. It's likely related to that woman. Our local forces can't intervene. You know what that woman represents."

Ning Beichen's brow furrowed upon hearing this. It was clear the news that they had the item had leaked. How or by whom it was leaked was no longer important.

Ning Beichen was a smart man, but he wouldn't underestimate others. Although his contact with the Thousand-Faced God of Thieves was clandestine, their capabilities shouldn't be underestimated.

Ning Beichen could imagine how furious that woman would be if she didn't get what she wanted.

As for the other sellers, they were probably happy to see this happen, as it would give them a chance to obtain the information.

After all, getting the information from him wouldn't offend that woman, and it would be much easier than snatching it from her. Therefore, Ning Beichen knew with certainty that he and Liu Yilin were now targets.

"Ning, do you want me to call for backup?" Annie asked. If Ning Beichen called for reinforcements, even if that woman had sealed off Las Vegas, she couldn't do anything to him.

"No, I don't want them to know my identity, and calling for backup now wouldn't help. This is their territory; it would mean going to war with them." Ning Beichen replied after some thought.

The beautiful Countess nodded. She understood this point perfectly. If she needed personnel, she had them, but they couldn't contend with that woman, as the woman represented an extraordinary force.

"Prepare a fully fueled plane for me," Ning Beichen suddenly said to her.

"Okay, I'll prepare it immediately." Annie didn't ask for reasons. She knew Ning Beichen had his own plans for everything he did. Her job was to obey his orders unconditionally.

Only Liu Yilin was very nervous. Since arriving here, she felt that this place was lawless, completely different from the world she knew. And Ning Beichen was becoming increasingly mysterious. Even this beautiful blonde woman was completely obedient to him. The claim that they were just friends who met while working no longer held any credibility for her.

"Boss, we might have to make a run for it." Ning Beichen said to Liu Yilin with a hint of helplessness after Annie left to arrange the plane.

"Ah!" Liu Yilin's mouth fell open, looking both scared and nervous, yet also a little excited.

"But boss, don't worry, I will definitely get you out of Las Vegas safely." Ning Beichen promised her.

"Ning Beichen, are we... really going to run for our lives? Don't these people have police to manage them?" Liu Yilin said, her legs trembling slightly.

Ning Beichen gave a wry smile and shook his head. These people wouldn't fear the police at all, and that woman's status was far above the police. The police would only help her deal with them.

"Ning Beichen, will we die here?" Liu Yilin had never experienced anything like this. Her young heart hadn't recovered from the previous gunfight. Now, hearing Ning Beichen say they needed to escape by plane, her heart couldn't handle such a shock.

"Don't worry, we won't. With me here, I won't let boss get into trouble." Ning Beichen said with full confidence.

Liu Yilin had no choice. At this point, she had no other option but to flee with Ning Beichen.

Soon after, Annie returned, having arranged a plane for them. They now needed to get to Annie's private airstrip as quickly as possible.

The three of them took a black Ford minivan. However, they found that many main routes along the way were blocked by checkpoints, inspecting every passing vehicle, including Annie's.

Eventually, Annie had to ram through, with seven or eight cars in pursuit. But when they forced Annie's car to stop, they discovered it contained only Annie, and not the people they were looking for.

Furthermore, Annie took the lead, scolding the people who had intercepted her car, which was in line with her reputation as the most beautiful countess in Las Vegas. In the end, these people, unable to find their quarry, had to apologize to Annie before leaving.
