Ning Beichen was showering inside, while Liu Yilin paced outside as if sitting on pins and needles, her mind flashing with countless images.
In just ten minutes, she felt as if a year had passed.
When Ning Beichen came out, Liu Yilin rushed forward and asked him, "Did you see anything while you were showering?"
"See anything? No," Ning Beichen replied, utterly bewildered.
Showering was just showering. He came out as soon as he was done. What was there to see?
"No… it's nothing."
Liu Yilin turned and went into the bathroom. Seeing her personal belongings still neatly placed where they were, she let out a sigh of relief.
"That guy probably didn't see it, right?"
Liu Yilin muttered a few times and quickly put her clothes away.
Ning Beichen, on the other hand, was somewhat confused, not understanding why Liu Yilin was so nervous. Of course, he had seen her clothes in the bathroom; he wasn't blind. What was the big deal?
They were just personal items. Ning Beichen had seen them before, he had undressed more than he could count. Why would he be interested in clothes? If he were interested, it would be in the person.
Ning Beichen lay on the sofa, his legs dangling out more than half way, making him feel uncomfortable. He was at least a meter eighty tall, and the sofa was so small. How could he lie comfortably? So he kept shifting.
Liu Yilin, lying on the bed, naturally saw this and knew the sofa was too small to accommodate him. It would be more fitting for her to sleep on it.
"Ning Beichen, why don't… why don't you come up here and sleep?"
Just as Ning Beichen was feeling uncomfortable, he suddenly heard heavenly music. He immediately jumped up from the sofa, saying "Thanks, boss," and unceremoniously lay down on the bed.
Liu Yilin was a bit stunned, but words, once spoken, were like spilled water. At this point, she couldn't go back on her word.
"Forget it, I've already rolled around in bed with him anyway."
Liu Yilin had no choice but to resign herself to fate. She warned him to sleep honestly and not to think of anything else.
Ning Beichen nodded, looking honest and simple. He had no intention of doing anything to her. He just wanted to sleep more comfortably. How could he have any bad intentions?
Soon, Ning Beichen fell asleep without a care in the world.
It was Liu Yilin who couldn't sleep, her mind in a mess.
Sometimes she worried if Ning Beichen would give in to his beastly nature while she was asleep, and sometimes she worried if he would be restless.
But when Ning Beichen made no move, she became angry. A beautiful woman like her was lying next to him, and he was truly unmoved?
All night, Liu Yilin was locked in a silent struggle with herself. As a result, when she woke up, she had two dark circles under her eyes, while Ning Beichen was full of energy.
"Good morning, boss."
Ning Beichen greeted Liu Yilin, but she responded with a cold snort and a glare, leaving him a little confused.
However, he was already accustomed to Liu Yilin's unpredictable, icy personality and didn't pay too much attention.
If he knew what Liu Yilin had been thinking last night, he would have cried out in injustice.
It wasn't that he didn't want to be a beast, he just didn't want to conquer an ice mountain. Besides, Ning Beichen had professional ethics, didn't he?
"Mr. Ning, Miss Liu, we are ready to depart," a bodyguard said, informing them.
Ning Beichen nodded, and he and Liu Yilin left the room.
The convoy soon left the small town, but the road ahead was in terrible condition. Due to heavy rain in the middle of the night, the roads had become even muddier.
Before long, three cars in the convoy got stuck in mud pits and couldn't move, including the lead car where Ning Beichen and Liu Yilin were.
Seven or eight bodyguards all jumped out and pushed from behind, but they couldn't get the cars out of the muddy road.
Even more unlucky, the tow truck at the front had broken down.
In an instant, all the vehicles were trapped on this muddy, broken road.
However, there was something even more unlucky. As if fate was against them, a torrential downpour suddenly began, forcing everyone to return to their cars to take shelter from the rain.
Ning Beichen and Liu Yilin also took shelter in the car. No one wanted to encounter such bad luck, but there was no other way. Ning Beichen, no matter how capable he was, was not an immortal and could do nothing.
The rain intensified, turning the entire sky dark. The pea-sized raindrops pounded on the car bodies, making a crackling sound.
As Ning Beichen sat in the car, a sudden bad premonition struck him, a feeling that something terrible was about to happen.
Ning Beichen never dared to be careless about his premonitions.
Because he had cultivated a certain technique, he would have a premonition whenever danger approached.
But his previous premonitions would disappear within a short time. This one, however, not only didn't disappear but became clearer and clearer.
Ning Beichen knew that something bad was definitely going to happen!
"Could it be an enemy attack?"
This was Ning Beichen's first thought.
But as soon as he saw the rain outside, he dismissed the idea. The heavy rain affected them, and it affected the enemy just the same. Generally, no enemy would choose such a time to ambush or attack them.
Moreover, they were not on the run, nor were they being pursued by any enemies.
"If it's not an enemy attack, then what could it be?"
Ning Beichen looked out through the car window, but the rain was too heavy, and the sky was too dark, making it impossible to see anything clearly.
However, just as Ning Beichen was about to look away, his gaze suddenly fell upon the nearby mountainside. His face immediately changed drastically. He quickly kicked open the car door, grabbed Liu Yilin's hand, and got out of the car, shouting loudly.
"Everyone, get out of the cars! The mountain is about to collapse."
Ning Beichen's words proved prophetic. Just as he pulled Liu Yilin out of the car, a thunderous roar was heard.
He saw a tree, uprooted, crashing down from above, hitting a car below and crushing the jeep into a pile of scrap metal.
Fortunately, Ning Beichen had warned them in time. The bodyguards in that car had already left the vehicle and escaped disaster.
However, at this moment, an overwhelming mudslide surged down from above, like the Yellow River in flood.
Ning Beichen paid no mind to the other bodyguards and, dragging Liu Yilin, sprinted on the muddy road.
