"Mr. Ning... Mr. Ning, why did you come back? Didn't you find the person you were looking for?" Charles asked, trembling like a mouse seeing a cat.
"I found him, but one is still missing." Ning Beichen plopped onto his executive chair, legs propped on the desk. He expertly pulled a handgun from a hidden compartment beneath the desk and tossed it onto the surface. "Only an idiot would hide a gun in such a place."
Sweat beaded on Charles's forehead. He dared not reply. He knew firsthand how terrifying Ning Beichen was, this devil. Even now, he was woken nightly by nightmares, the terror having become his recurring torment.
"Mr. Ning is right. But Mr. Ning, you shouldn't have come back at this time. The people behind Nu Gui are looking for you everywhere," Charles said, his voice laced with fear. He couldn't afford to offend Nu Gui, and this devil standing before him was even more dangerous. How had he, who had prospered so in Morocco, become so unlucky? Out of so many people, why did this devil fixate on him?
"What are you afraid of? Do they have teeth? I have teeth too," Ning Beichen grinned, his legs still bouncing. Few in this world could threaten him, and Nu Gui was certainly not among them.
"Mr. Ning, I know you're very capable, but they have overwhelming numbers..." Charles spoke cautiously, hoping to persuade Ning Beichen to leave. More importantly, Ning Beichen's presence here would surely draw Nu Gui's wrath upon him as well. He was a man of flesh and bone, and he couldn't withstand such pressure.
"Overwhelming numbers? It doesn't matter. I'll kill as many as come. I only fear they won't send enough for me to kill. Consider it me doing a good deed for this planet, cleaning up this human trash!" Ning Beichen looked at Charles with meaningful eyes.
Charles felt a chill run down his spine, sensing that Ning Beichen had seen through his thoughts. He no longer dared to harbor any ulterior motives.
"These people are just scum. They're used to being kings and overlords, truly believing no one dares to provoke them. Now, I'll show them what it means to be a formidable force that knows no bounds." Ning Beichen withdrew his gaze from Charles, continuing to tap his leg, appearing utterly dismissive of Nu Gui. It wasn't boasting; he genuinely didn't take Nu Gui and his ilk seriously. He didn't even fear Europe's oldest sacred temple, so why would he care about such a rabble?
However, Charles's worries weren't unfounded. Less than half an hour after Ning Beichen arrived, over twenty vehicles appeared outside Charles's building. Approximately sixty heavily armed men were surrounding the building, and the sound of helicopters filled the air.
"Mr. Ning, they... they're here." Ning Beichen was unfazed, but Charles trembled. The situation felt like two titans fighting, with him, a mere passerby, caught in the middle, unable to advance or retreat.
"Let them come." Ning Chao remained unhurried. He hadn't come alone this time. Did they really think the King of Darkness had no allies?
"Go, go, go..." With a command, a rope descended from a helicopter. The people inside the aircraft, just as they spotted the warning on their radar, were about to begin their rappelling assault when a streak of red light shot from the west. Before the pilot could react, the red light struck the helicopter. With a thunderous explosion, the helicopter became a fireball, scattering debris across the sky.
Ning Beichen's expression remained unchanged, while Charles, terrified, slumped to the floor, his eyes wide with horror. Ning Beichen then lowered his legs from the desk, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked outside. His voice was cold as he said, "This is just the beginning. Enjoy the show I've arranged for you."
In a luxurious building elsewhere, a gathering of the wealthy and influential was underway. These were the powerful figures behind Nu Gui. Ning Beichen's actions had thrown their operations into chaos. For years, no one had dared to openly challenge the Nu Gui interest group. Now, some unknown brat had arrived and utterly humiliated them, even single-handedly dismantling their most important stronghold in Morocco.
Upon receiving news of Ning Beichen's presence in Morocco, they had immediately dispatched forces to deal with him. The individuals sent were elite, the best of the best, signifying how seriously they regarded Ning Beichen. After all, no matter how capable the young man was, he was still just one person. His success in Morocco could partly be attributed to the complacency of Nu Gui in recent years, which had lowered their guard. They didn't believe Ning Beichen was that formidable, but rather that they had become too lax.
"An arrogant brat who doesn't know his place, aspiring to be a powerful force. He's simply asking for death!"
"No matter who he is, sending Abby Li to deal with him means he's trapped." The mention of Abby Li's name seemed to relax everyone present. They began to chat and laugh, some drinking, others smoking cigars. Clearly, in their eyes, Abby Li's involvement guaranteed success, as he had never failed them before.
"Alright, everyone, no need to worry. That young man from the ancient Eastern country is not a threat. However, we need to discuss a more pressing matter: our profits have declined this year, and the reason is well known – issues with our supply chain."
"I've procured a large batch of top-quality goods from Seiya. This time, there can be no mistakes, or we'll all be facing hardship by year's end."
"With the Moroccan supply chain gradually shrinking, I plan to establish a Nu Gui base in Seya. Do you have any thoughts on this?"
"Count me in. As long as there are sufficient profits, I can handle the overt matters in Seya."
"Excellent! When we share wealth together, we can prosper long-term. Let's toast!" Everyone stood up and clinked glasses.
However, just as they were reveling, a white light suddenly shot through the window, followed by a deafening explosion. The entire room was then engulfed in thick smoke and flames, quickly turning into a conflagration. None of the people inside escaped. The individuals celebrating moments before were now burning figures.
