Finding Tara if she truly wanted to hide, without any intelligence, would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
"Stop the car!"
Ning Beichen was driving through the downloaded roads. When he passed an old alley entrance, he heard Haitang call out to stop him. Ning Beichen immediately parked the car at the alley entrance.
"She's inside."
Li Haitang pointed into the dark alley and said.
It was already past twelve o'clock at night, and there were hardly any people on the streets. Only a dim street lamp illuminated the surroundings. Occasionally, the barking of dogs could be heard.
"Haitang, are you sure it's here?"
Ning Beichen asked her in a low voice.
"There's no mistake. There are remnants of witchcraft lingering around. It hasn't been more than three hours."
Li Haitang replied with certainty.
Not only could she sense the remnants of witchcraft here, but she could also estimate the time.
This might not seem like much to Ning Beichen, as he didn't understand these things, but if a witch were present, they would surely be shocked by Li Haitang's abilities.
Sensing the remnants of witchcraft was not difficult for a witch, but being able to estimate the time was something that not just any witch could accomplish.
"That's great, Haitang. Can you pinpoint a more accurate location?"
Ning Beichen asked Li Haitang.
There were many houses in this alley, and searching them one by one would inevitably waste a lot of time.
"I'll try."
Li Haitang closed her eyes. After a while, she said to Ning Beichen, "It's up ahead. Follow me."
Ning Beichen immediately followed Li Haitang, protecting her as he went.
Every time Li Haitang approached a house or apartment building, she would stop and sense carefully. If she found nothing, she would continue searching forward.
About fifteen minutes later.
Li Haitang pointed to an old apartment building and whispered to Ning Beichen.
"I smell the scent of death. Many people have died in this building."
Ning Beichen's pupils contracted, and he said to Li Haitang, "Haitang, you stay back. I'll go in and take a look."
However, Li Haitang gave him a look as if he were an idiot and said to him, "Can you deal with a witch?"
Ning Beichen spread his hands, then opened the suitcase he brought and assembled a compound bow.
He might not be able to deal with witchcraft, but that didn't mean he couldn't deal with witches. As long as he prevented the witches from using their magic, they would be useless.
With his strength, Ning Beichen was not afraid of even a hundred witches if he could ambush them without giving them ample time to prepare.
"Ning Beichen, this thing won't work. I sense a very powerful witch here. Without me, you won't be able to handle him."
Li Haitang said to Ning Beichen.
"Alright, but be careful. I don't want to see you get hurt or in trouble."
Ning Beichen repeatedly cautioned her.
Compared to Li Haitang's safety, he would rather not kill the sorceress.
"Don't worry. I can't say for sure about other things, but these Western barbarians are not qualified to speak in front of my Miao witchcraft."
Li Haitang said proudly.
"Yes, yes, yes. I know you're the best. But promise me you'll be careful and take care of yourself, okay? I'd rather not get revenge than have anything happen to you."
Ning Beichen knew her strong personality and went along with her words.
"I understand. You too."
Li Haitang squeezed Ning Beichen's hand and said emotionally.
"Yes, we both need to be careful."
Ning Beichen nodded, then stealthily entered the building entrance with the compound bow.
Soon, Ning Beichen opened the door to a room.
Seeing a family of four lying together in the room, with only shriveled skin left and their life force long gone, filled Ning Beichen with rage.
"These witches deserve to die!"
Ning Beichen gritted his teeth and said.
However, he immediately remembered that Li Haitang was also a Miao witch and quickly explained to her.
"Haitang, I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about these Western bastards. I'll kill every single one I meet from now on!"
Ning Beichen said angrily.
The tragic scene before them angered Ning Beichen, and Li Haitang could not accept it either.
To some extent, in the beginning, witches were some of the purest beings in the world. They had firm beliefs, could communicate with heaven and earth, and with spirits. Their existence and their witchcraft were meant to help people overcome difficulties.
But now, witches had long since degenerated. They were no longer witches with selfless hearts, but rather used witchcraft for wealth and murder.
Not long after, Ning Beichen and Li Haitang discovered that everyone in the entire apartment building was dead, all killed by witchcraft.
At this point, Ning Beichen was like an explosive barrel about to detonate, his eyes red and terrifying.
Li Haitang was not much better. Like Ning Beichen, she hated Western witches to the bone, wishing she could grind them into ashes!
Ning Beichen searched layer by layer upwards. There were no living people in any of the apartments on any floor, causing Ning Beichen's hand holding the compound bow to tremble. His knuckles turned white. He wished he could personally kill this cruel witch right now.
After a while, he and Li Haitang reached the floor where Tara was hiding. They heard a woman's voice, uttering sounds that could be excitement or pain.
Ning Beichen then immediately made a gesture for caution to Li Haitang behind him.
Ning Beichen cautiously approached the door, placing his hand on the lock. With a surge of inner energy, he produced a very faint sound, and the lock shattered.
Then, Ning Beichen, holding his compound bow, gently pushed the door open and walked in, moving as lightly as a cat.
At that moment, Alva, who was enjoying Tara's service in the room, suddenly pushed Tara away. He waved his hand, and a black cat flew out from his sleeve, lunging fiercely at Ning Beichen outside.
Ning Beichen was sneaking into the room and had not yet had time to assess his surroundings when he saw a black cat appear from nowhere and lung towards him viciously.
Ning Beichen spun the compound bow in his hand.
An arrow flew out from the bowstring quickly, accurately, and surely, piercing the black cat's head in one shot.
But strangely, as the black cat, pierced through the head, fell to the ground, there was no corpse, only a wisp of black smoke.
"Not good! I've been discovered."
Ning Beichen reacted immediately. He stopped hiding, held his compound bow, and rushed towards the bedroom ahead.
With a clang, Ning Beichen kicked open the bedroom door, and the arrow of his compound bow was already pointed at the room's interior.
