For two hours, Ning Beichen recounted the entire story.
However, Jin Yuehe looked at Ning Beichen with a bewildered expression and said.
"I don't know what you mean by 'Ling', nor is there a man named Chang Qing in my dreams, but you give me an indescribable feeling. My intuition tells me we must have a connection."
"Miss Jin Yuehe, I think there's been a misunderstanding. I've never met you before, and this painting was given to me by Senior Chang Qing..."
Ning Beichen suddenly felt a headache as the situation seemed to be veering off course.
He was supposed to help Chang Qing find his reincarnated Dao companion, not find one for himself.
But Jin Yuehe's reaction was beyond Ning Beichen's expectations.
"Miss Jin Yuehe, could it be that your memory hasn't fully recovered yet? That's why you mistook me for the person most important to you."
Ning Beichen could only explain.
Jin Yuehe shook her head, then nodded. She herself wasn't sure, and she felt nothing for the person named Chang Qing that Ning Beichen mentioned. Instead, she had an inexplicable feeling towards the man in front of her.
"How about this, Miss Jin Yuehe? I have a way to help you see your memories. If you're willing to try, I can assist you."
Ning Beichen said to her.
Jin Yuehe nodded, as she herself desperately wanted to understand what was in her memories.
"However, Miss Jin Yuehe, to access your memories, we need to make some preparations and find a quiet place where we absolutely won't be disturbed. This park is definitely not suitable."
Ning Beichen told her.
"Come back to my home. I live alone, and no one will disturb us."
Jin Yuehe said immediately.
"Alright, but Miss Jin Yuehe, are you not afraid that I might be a bad person if you bring me home like this?"
Ning Beichen said.
"I trust you."
Jin Yuehe said without a moment's hesitation.
Since she had said so, Ning Beichen no longer hesitated, though he was a bit worried about what would happen if Jin Yuehe truly mistook him for her man.
Most importantly, how could he explain this to Ling?
Ling had asked him to help find his reincarnated Dao companion, and here he was, potentially stealing that very companion. What kind of situation was this!
Therefore, Ning Beichen could only hope that Jin Yuehe was merely suffering from memory loss and that no melodramatic scene would unfold.
Not long after, Ning Beichen returned to Jin Yuehe's home with her.
Upon arriving at her home, Ning Beichen found it to be so sparsely furnished that it barely resembled a home. There wasn't even a television in the house.
The total number of furniture items in the entire house did not exceed five, and all the items were for a single person. She even had only one cup for drinking water.
From this, it could be inferred that she had always lived alone.
"Mr. Ning, please have a seat. I'll make you some tea."
Jin Yuehe said to Ning Beichen.
Ning Beichen was about to refuse, but Jin Yuehe was already busy, so he could only relent.
Soon, Jin Yuehe brought a cup of tea and placed it in front of Ning Beichen. However, Ning Beichen noticed that her gaze towards him was always a little off, making him unable to focus on the tea.
Ning Beichen pretended to take a sip, then put down the teacup and said to Jin Yuehe.
"Miss Jin Yuehe, next, we need to enter your dream, or rather, your subconscious, to find fragments of your memories. This process carries some danger."
"The danger is that the memory fragments are incredibly real. In the dream, you won't know you are within your memories. Once you become lost in them, you will never be able to come out."
"So, for safety, I will write a talisman on your arm. When you see this talisman, it will serve as a reminder, and at that moment, you must wake up without hesitation."
Ning Beichen told her.
Jin Yuehe nodded, then said to Ning Beichen.
"If I can't wake up, Mr. Ning, please bury me next to my parents."
"That won't happen."
Ning Beichen said to her, word by word.
"I'm just saying, in case."
Jin Yuehe said.
"There is no 'in case'."
Ning Beichen said firmly.
Because Ning Beichen had decided to enter her subconscious with her, he would never let anything happen to her.
Jin Yuehe didn't know why Ning Beichen was so confident, but she still nodded emotionally.
After all preparations were made, Jin Yuehe suddenly looked at Ning Beichen and said.
"Mr. Ning, can I hug you? Just once."
Ning Beichen was taken aback for a moment, but eventually nodded, though he appeared somewhat uneasy.
At this moment, Jin Yuehe had already embraced him. Her soft and warm body pressed against him. Ning Beichen could even see the crystal-clear eyes of Jin Yuehe, with tears glistening within them.
Ning Beichen hesitated for a moment, then wrapped his arms around her.
"I'm just hugging her once, to comfort her. Senior, please forgive me."
Ning Beichen said in his heart.
Soon, Jin Yuehe let go and said a thank you to Ning Beichen.
"Are you ready?"
Ning Beichen asked her.
"I'm ready, let's go."
Jin Yuehe replied.
Ning Beichen waved his hand, and Jin Yuehe immediately fell over.
Ning Beichen, with quick reflexes, caught her in his arms and then placed her on the bed.
Ning Beichen placed two fingers on her Ming Tang point. He saw a faint glow appear on her Ming Tang, and soon the glow grew, becoming like a small sun that illuminated the entire room.
When Jin Yuehe opened her eyes, she found herself in a place that resembled a starry sky, surrounded by various colored orbs of light.
As she was mesmerized by the sight, Ning Beichen's voice reached her ears.
"Miss Jin Yuehe, these light orbs are fragments of your subconscious memories. The color of the orb represents your emotions. Black signifies sadness, white signifies happiness, yellow represents your anger, blue represents what you like, and orange signifies memories of love..."
"What should I do now?"
Jin Yuehe asked.
"It's simple. Just interact with these memory fragments, and you will see your past. Remember, don't get lost in them."
Ning Beichen's voice was present, but he was not visible.
"I understand."
Jin Yuehe boldly took a step forward into the void. She found that she didn't fall, which immediately put her at ease.
However, these memory fragments were in motion and wouldn't wait for her in one spot, so Jin Yuehe needed to actively seek them out.
