There was a large expanse of floor-to-ceiling glass. The man took out a tool and drew a circle on the glass. Then, from a tool bag at his waist, he produced a suction cup.
He firmly attached the suction cup to the glass and pulled outwards with force, extracting the circular piece of glass.
He then crawled through the circular opening.
After entering Liu Yilin's office, the man immediately concealed himself in a corner. He observed his surroundings and, finding no cameras, grew bolder. He moved around openly, rummaging through drawers and cabinets.
However, though there were many documents, none were what he sought. He was looking for the drug's formula and experimental data.
The man left the office and went into the corridor, intending to search the laboratory.
Just then, he heard footsteps and quickly performed a somersault, spreading his limbs to hang securely from the ceiling of the corridor.
A short while later, he saw three fully armed personnel walking from the other end of the corridor.
He could also hear them speaking.
"Everyone must remain vigilant. Every area must be patrolled and inspected. Recently, I've noticed many people outside are targeting this place. We cannot afford to be careless."
"Yes, Captain."
The patrolling personnel answered in unison.
"And don't forget the ceiling," the captain added.
At this, the man clinging to the ceiling of the corridor felt a sense of dread.
As expected, after the captain's reminder, the patrolling team all looked up at the corridor's ceiling.
The man, naturally, could not hide from their sight while suspended from the ceiling.
Just as the captain had warned them to check the ceiling, they found a man there.
"Trouble, someone has infiltrated from above!"
The patrolling members immediately drew their weapons.
At this moment, the man clinging to the ceiling plummeted down like a cannonball.
Upon landing, he grabbed one of the patrolling members by the neck and slammed him against the wall. With a thud, one of the guards collapsed.
As another patrolling member was about to use his walkie-talkie to notify others, the man flicked his wrist, sending a diamond-shaped dart that severed the arm holding the walkie-talkie.
Before the patrol member could even cry out in pain, the man hooked his arm around his mouth while his other fist struck his jaw.
With a bang!
This patrol member also fell.
The captain of the patrol team, wielding a pair of batons, swept them towards the man.
The man executed a split dodge, evading the horizontal sweep of the batons. He then slid beneath the captain's legs in a strange, undulating motion, appearing behind him.
A flash of white light!
A dagger pierced the captain's spine, and he instinctively tried to cry out in pain.
But the man from behind covered his mouth and made a gesture for him to be silent.
Then, with a crack, the captain's neck was broken.
The man gently lowered the captain's body. He then pulled the dagger from the corpse, twirled it, wiped the blade on the deceased's clothes, and sheathed it.
From the moment the man began his assault to the moment all three patrolling members lay dead, less than a minute and a half had passed.
The man ignored the bodies of the fallen guards and approached a room with a sign that read "Laboratory."
However, the laboratory was not equipped with ordinary doors or locks. It had a thick steel door and a high-level electronic lock requiring authorized fingerprint and iris scans. Without normal access, it would likely require a powerful explosive to breach.
But the man, seemingly familiar with the process, easily pried open the power box and connected a palm-sized device to the internal circuitry. He then began to operate it.
After about five minutes, the steel door of the laboratory glowed red and emitted a warning sound.
"Warning, intrusion detected!"
"Warning..."
The alarms throughout the entire building blared.
The man faltered for a moment, but quickly regained his composure. He hadn't expected to fail, and the reason for his failure wasn't a lack of skill, but rather a new type of anti-theft program installed within.
If stealth was not an option, then brute force would have to suffice. He was confident in his abilities.
He forcibly opened the laboratory door and barged in, immediately ransacking the place.
Meanwhile, patrolling personnel within the building, alerted by the alarms, rushed towards the laboratory on the eighth floor.
"Don't move, hands up!"
Soon, patrolling guards arrived at the laboratory. Seeing a man rummaging through the contents, they shouted orders.
The man rose and glanced at the patrolling guards, a look of disdain on his face.
Everything was good in the ancient Eastern country, except for the prohibition of private firearm ownership, unless through special authorization. Therefore, these patrolling guards were equipped with stun batons, tear gas, and tasers. To him, these security guards were no match.
The man pretended to raise his hands. As the patrolling guards approached, he struck with lightning speed, pressing his palms together and thrusting them into the guards' throats, instantly incapacitating them.
Another guard lunged at the man with a taser, but his arm was seized by the man, and the taser was turned back on him.
After a bout of convulsions, the guard was also electrocuted by his own taser, foaming at the mouth and collapsing.
Within minutes, all the patrolling personnel in the building had been subdued by the man.
However, to his frustration, he found no valuable data in the laboratory.
"If it's not here, it must be at her residence."
Unwilling to give up, the man left the building and headed towards Liu Yilin's place of residence.
Because by tomorrow, what happened here would be known, making it even more difficult to approach Liu Yilin. Therefore, he decided to strike while the iron was hot and obtain the formula from her tonight, or abduct her.
He had already scouted Liu Yilin's residence and arrived there shortly.
Seeing the house unguarded by any bodyguards, the man revealed a cruel smile.
Liu Yilin was too careless, not even arranging bodyguards at her own home. Did she truly believe no one would dare to harm her?
However, this was for the better, as it made things easier for him.
