Fu Yan Ting's meaning was clear to Yan Xi.
This was not Yan City; they were only here on a business trip. In this unfamiliar environment, no one would be following them.
However, Yan Xi still felt uneasy. She had a persistent feeling that the person was indeed tracking them.
Fu Yan Ting's words did not alleviate Yan Xi's apprehension.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Yan Xi tightly clasped Fu Yan Ting's arm. When she looked back again, the figure that had been following them had disappeared.
Yan Xi did not believe it was mere coincidence, nor did she think she had mistaken.
Seeing that Fu Yan Ting was still checking in, Yan Xi softly said, "Honey, I need to use the restroom."
Fu Yan Ting didn't stop her, only saying gently, "Alright, I'll wait for you here and we'll go upstairs together."
Yan Xi nodded.
After Yan Xi entered the restroom, that sneaky, surveillance-like gaze reappeared.
Yan Xi felt a pang of unease.
As she finished and was about to leave the restroom, a woman's voice suddenly echoed from above her head.
"Yan Xi, you really are quite carefree. Aren't you worried about your brother's situation?"
Hearing this voice, Yan Xi's inner fear and worry for Yan Yi surged forth.
Yan Xi looked up but couldn't see anyone.
Yan Xi's legs trembled, but she forced herself to remain calm.
"Who are you? Who exactly are you?"
The only reply was a cold laugh.
Yan Xi didn't know how she managed to walk out of the restroom. As she emerged, she bumped into someone.
Yan Xi screamed in fright.
Fu Yan Ting quickly comforted her, asking softly, "Xi Xi, what's wrong? What happened?"
Hearing Fu Yan Ting's voice and seeing it was indeed him, Yan Xi could no longer hold back her tears and sobbed into his embrace.
"Okay, let's go back to the room first."
Although Fu Yan Ting didn't know what had happened in the restroom to make Yan Xi so distraught, he was certain that it was likely related to the person who had been following them.
Fu Yan Ting glanced back coldly in the direction of the restroom before leading Yan Xi to their room.
After the shock in the restroom, Yan Xi remained worried about Yan Yi and couldn't sleep well all night.
The next morning, Yan Xi prepared to go to Yan Yi's school to see him.
Fu Yan Ting's meeting was in the afternoon, and he had nothing pressing in the morning. He also felt uneasy about letting Yan Xi go to the school alone.
So, Fu Yan Ting accompanied Yan Xi to the school.
However, upon arriving at the school, the teachers informed Yan Xi that Yan Yi had already processed his leave of absence himself and had been gone for several months.
Yan Xi knew that Yan Yi had always yearned for an education and understood how hard-won such opportunities were. He wouldn't have taken leave so casually. Something must have happened to Yan Yi.
Seeing Yan Xi's face turn extremely pale, Fu Yan Ting said softly, "Don't worry, we will find Yan Yi."
Despite his words, the enemy was hidden while they were exposed. Fu Yan Ting had no idea who had taken Yan Yi. Although he comforted Yan Xi, he himself didn't know where to start looking for Yan Yi.
"If anything happens to Yi Yi, I won't have the face to live anymore."
Yan Xi murmured to herself, as if not hearing Fu Yan Ting.
"Silly girl, didn't I say Yan Yi will be fine? He knows you're his only relative in this world. He knows you'll worry about him, so he won't let anything happen to himself. Stop scaring yourself."
Even though Fu Yan Ting kept trying to comfort Yan Xi, she knew very well what the person in the restroom had told her. Yan Xi was sure that Yan Yi had been hidden by them.
Fu Yan Ting brought Yan Xi back to the hotel. As soon as they entered the lobby, his phone rang. It was from an investor, and Fu Yan Ting couldn't ignore it.
Yan Xi was in no mood to linger, so she went back to their room. However, the moment she opened the room door, she saw Shi Wen Wen.
Upon seeing Shi Wen Wen, Yan Xi felt as if she had seen a ghost and screamed in terror.
Shi Wen Wen was unfazed by Yan Xi's reaction. Wearing ten-centimeter heels, she walked slowly towards Yan Xi, looking down at her and sneering, "Yan Xi, you never expected to see me again, did you?"
Why was Shi Wen Wen here, in their room? Wasn't Shi Wen Wen supposed to be dead for a long time?
"Yan Xi, I'll tell you the truth. I am indeed dead. However, my yang energy was too strong, and even the King of Hell couldn't take me. Helplessly, they sent me back to the human world. This time, I have no other purpose than to make you die and to have Fu Yan Ting belong to me completely."
"The person who was following us at the airport earlier, that was you, wasn't it?" Yan Xi suddenly asked.
Shi Wen Wen did not deny it.
"Where is Yan Yi? Where have you hidden Yan Yi?"
Hearing footsteps, Shi Wen Wen knew Fu Yan Ting had returned and quickly hid. The time wasn't right yet to let Fu Yan Ting know of her existence.
"Don't leave! Come back here and tell me where Yan Yi is!" Yan Xi yelled at the door like a madwoman.
Fu Yan Ting rushed over and stood beside Yan Xi, asking softly, "Xi Xi, what's wrong? Who are you talking to?"
"Shi Wen Wen, honey, I just saw Shi Wen Wen. She's the one who hid Yan Yi. She already admitted it to me. Hurry and chase her, make her give Yan Yi back to me."
If Yan Xi had mentioned anyone else, Fu Yan Ting might have believed her. But Yan Xi had said Shi Wen Wen's name.
This made Fu Yan Ting certain that Yan Xi's mind was troubled.
After all, Shi Wen Wen was already buried. How could she possibly come to trouble Yan Xi?
"Honey, why are you standing still? Why aren't you chasing Shi Wen Wen?" Yan Xi asked Fu Yan Ting, her gaze indifferent.
Fu Yan Ting, however, said gently, "Xi Xi, I know you're very tired today. Let's go back to the room and rest. Tomorrow, I'll take you to find Yan Yi, okay?"
Yan Xi disagreed.
Fu Yan Ting forcibly pulled Yan Xi back into the room and instructed the front desk to prepare a cup of hot milk for Yan Xi, with a little sleeping pill added to help her sleep.
After drinking the milk, Yan Xi soon fell asleep.
Fu Yan Ting actually knew that Yan Xi wouldn't say Shi Wen Wen was bothering her for no reason.
At the time of Shi Wen Wen's death, although the Shi family had held a funeral and she had been cremated, Fu Yan Ting was not entirely sure if it was truly Shi Wen Wen who had died.
