Chapter 81: Chapter 81: The Beastman’s Plea
Su Qinglan looked up to find that it was Zhao Mu who had asked her. There was sadness and anticipation in his eyes.
Su Qinglan’s heart tightened at his expression. The man literally looked like he had been through a hell of emotions...first losing his female beast husband, and now almost losing his female.
To the point that he couldn’t even trust anyone. But now, after she had stabilized Liu Shan’s condition, she could see the spark returning to his eyes.
Even the fierce determination had faded from those eyes, the same eyes that just moments ago had practically screamed that if anything happened to his female, he would follow her into the afterlife.
Now he looked more calm and reasoned. Su Qinglan nodded at him. "I can help, and she will get better. But it must be you and her who can’t lose hope. If you believe in me, everything will be fine," Su Qinglan gently said, trying to make him understand so he wouldn’t reject her proposal like before.
But this time, she was shocked when Zhao Mu suddenly kneeled down in front of her and said, "Please, female Su Qinglan, heal my mate. I know she won’t last if this continues. Please, I beg you. I’m willing to be your ox in this and the next life."
Su Qinglan was stunned and quickly took a few steps back. "Don’t kneel... I will help her. I already said I will," she said immediately. But Zhao Mu had no intention of getting up. She could only look at Hu Yan helplessly.
Hu Yan helped the man up even though he was practically plastered to the ground, and he said sternly, "You have to get a grip on yourself. If you can’t control your emotions, how are you going to take care of your female?"
This time Zhao Mu finally looked at him, and there were tears in his eyes. Yes...the strong beastman who might not even flinch in front of a ferocious beast was crying because he couldn’t see the condition of his precious mate.
Hu Yan’s heart softened. After all, how could he not relate to him? He also had a female, and he knew how much their females meant to beastmen.
This time he softened his tone and said, "Brother Zhao Mu, you have to get hold of yourself. Only then can you take care of your female. And now, you also have to take care of Brother Roe too," he reminded him.
Since the three had formed a nest, after a beastman mated for life, the female’s family would become theirs, and all the male beastmen would become family too.
Zhao Mu suddenly realized that in all his haste, he had completely forgotten about Brother Roe, and he had yet to give him his last visit before burying him.
Su Qinglan looked at both of them but did not disturb them. When she finally looked at Brother Zhao Mu, who looked better than before, she immediately offered, "I will take care of Sister Liu Shan. You can go without any worries."
Zhao Mu nodded at her with grateful eyes before leaving. Hu Yan followed him. He looked back at her with deep eyes and said gently, "Take care, Lan Lan... Don’t overwork."
She immediately replied, "I will just sit here and keep an eye on her, nothing else. You should go, and after you come back, we’ll return to our cave."
Hu Yan nodded before following Zhao Mu.
After both of them disappeared from the cave, Su Qinglan placed her palm gently over Liu Shan’s lower belly. A faint green glow spread from her hand as she focused her power. The light was soft and warm, but soon her expression turned serious.
Something was wrong.
The flow of energy inside Liu Shan’s body was not smooth; it was blocked, like water trying to pass through a wall. Su Qinglan could feel it clearly. Her brows furrowed.
"Xuyu, check her condition," she said in her mind.
A moment later, the familiar clear voice of the system echoed inside her head.
"Host, Liu Shan’s womb has internal damage. There’s an old injury that caused blockage inside her uterus. That’s why she cannot conceive. The injury has healed on the surface but left deep scars inside. Her body is also very weak from malnutrition and long emotional stress."
Su Qinglan’s eyes darkened. "So that’s the reason..." she murmured softly.
The system continued,
"Host cannot heal it all at once. If you force your power, her body won’t handle it. You must first restore her strength. Prepare medicine with these herbs: snow root leaf, wild lotus stem, and red heart berry.
These will nourish her body and ease the inner swelling. Once her health improves, you can use your plant power to repair the inner wound bit by bit."
Su Qinglan nodded slightly, remembering every herb’s name carefully.
"After that," the system added, "you must give her stronger herbs to rebuild her blood and energy. Only then can her womb fully recover."
Her gaze softened as she looked at Liu Shan’s pale face. The woman’s breathing had become steady, but her complexion was still lifeless. She had truly suffered for a long time.
She sighed softly. "Such a cruel world," she whispered, brushing a strand of hair away from Liu Shan’s face. "Even a kind female like her has to suffer because of fate."
She looked at the pale face of Liu Shan before finding herself a place to sit. After constantly using her powers, she felt so tired and drained.
Even though she knew she was not strong enough to heal her completely in one go, she trusted the system. It might take some time, but she believed Liu Shan could be healed before the rainy season arrived.
And just like that, Su Qinglan did not realize when her eyes closed, and she fell asleep while leaning on the cave wall.
Stove looked at her and then around before he also decided to silently stay put and protect his female master.
Whenever they were in others’ presence, he always pretended to be just a normal plant, and no one doubted him even if he dangled himself from Su Qinglan’s arm.
He had reduced his size and wrapped around her wrist, vigilantly keeping his eyes on the surroundings so both females could sleep peacefully.
