The night falls in Torubana's central park, where the boss raid group is gathered for some fun.
Ling Feng, however, had already returned to the inn to rest.
As soon as he entered the room, he saw Saigiri asleep on one of the beds.
Saigiri's limbs were restless; one foot was under the covers, while the other was exposed. She also paid no mind to her appearance, her clothes in disarray.
"Sigh, all grown up and still not mindful of your image. I'm a guy, aren't you afraid I might lose control and devour you?"
Ling Feng sighed softly, approaching the bed. As he covered Saigiri with the blanket, he grumbled.
Saigiri in this state was quite alluring. If his self-control wasn't strong, he might have given in.
Glancing at the sleeping Saigiri, Ling Feng's eyes were filled with tenderness.
Saigiri was so much more obedient than her sister.
"After a month of living in the wild, constantly on edge, you deserve a good rest today."
He said this to Saigiri, and also to himself.
Ling Feng jumped onto the other bed, feeling as if he were melting, utterly comfortable.
"Ah~ Beds are so much more comfortable and soft than branches."
Within seconds, Ling Feng fell asleep.
For these thirty days, he had been in a shallow sleep mode. He hadn't had a good, restful sleep in a long time.
Being in the town, it was much safer. Even the town guards couldn't barge into an inn to arrest him directly.
Meanwhile, Saigiri, who had been sound asleep, suddenly opened her eyes. She glanced at Ling Feng, who was snoring beside her, and pouted in dissatisfaction.
Did she really have so little charm? Couldn't he look at her a couple more times? She felt like a failure.
If Ling Feng knew what Saigiri was thinking, he would have surely replied,
"Three years of probation, with the death penalty as the maximum!"
...
The next day, at ten in the morning, in a forest area, Ling Feng, Kirito, and Asuna walked at the rear of the group.
Asuna looked at Ling Feng, who, like herself, wore a cloak to conceal his face, with curiosity.
Ling Feng, with his arms crossed and a placid expression, walked forward. He completely ignored Asuna's gaze.
Kirito, looking at the two teammates with their chins lowered beside him, wondered if he should also wear a cloak.
With two out of three people wearing cloaks, wouldn't he seem out of place?
However, Kirito ultimately didn't wear a cloak because he didn't have one!
Kirito followed the two with a sigh and said,
"To confirm, our detached group's objective is the boss's personal guards. As for Ling Feng, you're free to do as you please."
"Mhm, understood."
Asuna nodded. Ling Feng didn't speak, implicitly agreeing. He just wanted to reach the boss's room as quickly as possible; the effect of his cloak was limited.
However, he was surprised to hear Kirito tell Ling Feng to do as he pleased.
"Later, I'll use my sword skill to parry their polearms. You immediately jump up."
Asuna: "Jump up?"
Hearing Asuna's confused tone, Kirito frowned, astonished.
"Is this your first time forming a party?"
"Yes."
Asuna nodded gently.
Kirito was dumbfounded. His only teammate didn't even know about jumping. He stopped in his tracks, looking utterly dejected.
Ling Feng smiled and patted Kirito's shoulder.
"I have a feeling you two will cooperate very well. Don't worry."
"Let's hope so."
Soon, the raid group arrived in front of the boss's room. Diabel gave a pre-battle pep talk to the team, then pushed open the boss room door.
Everyone filed in.
As they entered, the dimly lit room suddenly brightened. A giant dog-headed monster rose from a seat at the back of the room, then leaped up and landed heavily in the center.
With a roar, three guards wielding warhammers appeared around it.
With a furious roar, they launched a fierce attack on the raid group.
Seeing this, Diabel was about to direct the battle when a person in a blue cloak suddenly charged out from the crowd, heading straight for the boss.
The crowd erupted in an uproar. Diabel hadn't expected someone to disrupt his plan and quickly shouted,
"Come back quickly, follow the command! Going up alone is suicide."
"Ling Feng! I told you to fight the personal guards, not the boss!"
Kirito, standing at the back of the group, was startled to see the familiar figure rushing towards the boss. He turned his head and found that Ling Feng, who had been beside him moments ago, had disappeared.
The three personal guards, seeing Ling Feng, all charged at him. They lacked intelligence and only attacked whoever was within their attack range.
Just as everyone thought Ling Feng was finished, the next scene shocked them.
Ling Feng deflected the approaching "popcorn warhammer" with his sword, then spun and kicked the guard away.
The guard, kicked by Ling Feng, crashed into another guard.
"Roar!"
When Ling Feng was open, the third guard swung its hammer down at him.
"Clang!"
A stone shot out, hitting the guard's warhammer with perfect accuracy. With the power of "Flicker," the guard was forced back repeatedly.
Everyone was stunned by Ling Feng's display.
"Roar."
Suddenly, a battle axe descended towards Ling Feng. Seeing this, Ling Feng pushed off the ground and leaped a distance away, narrowly dodging the axe.
After dodging, Ling Feng used the battle axe as a springboard, heading straight for the boss's head.
Regardless of the monster, the head was generally the weak point.
Normal attack, normal attack, normal attack.
Ling Feng attacked relentlessly, not even using sword skills. He made the boss's face hurt and forced it to retreat repeatedly, without using control sword skills to create a stun effect.
This was the result of Ling Feng's rich combat experience. Without the control effect of sword skills, as long as the weak point was found and attacked relentlessly, a certain degree of control could be inflicted on the opponent.
The boss's HP continued to drop.
"Roar!"
Just as everyone was shocked by Ling Feng's incredible maneuvers, six personal guards charged towards them.
When the boss's HP decreased, it would summon personal guards.
"Let's go too!"
Only then did everyone react and quickly counterattack. Ling Feng's actions had greatly boosted morale.
Diabel also immediately organized people to help Ling Feng.
Inside the boss's room, everyone was fighting fiercely. Ling Feng stood out the most, drawing the boss's aggro entirely with his sword.
When others tried to help, they were forced back by the boss's axe. Ling Feng alone had taken down two bars of the boss's HP.
Sweat beaded on Diabel's forehead. He had originally planned to wait until the boss had very little HP left and then go for the kill, obtaining the final rare item.
Who knew that a formidable player would appear halfway and single-handedly suppress the boss? Was this the strength a player could possess at this stage?
