Chapter 621 Seeking Shelter

Lin Chun's brow furrowed at this statement, and he then cast his gaze towards the mountain cave behind them.

We were currently standing at the entrance of the cave, about five meters away from the outside.

Even after the bonfire was lit, the cave behind us remained pitch black.

"I feel like there's a breeze coming from inside..." Lin Chun spoke up.

I nodded.

When I had just emerged from my cultivation state, I had sensed a wind blowing from behind me.

Furthermore, this wind didn't feel like the strong gales outside.

The wind was very gentle, even carrying a hint of warmth, completely unlike the raging winds outside.

"Could it be that there's something inside this cave?" Lin Chun glanced at me and asked in a low voice.

Upon hearing this, my expression immediately turned serious.

Based on the time, it would not be long before it was completely dark.

Moreover, it was raining heavily outside, making it impossible to leave today, so we needed to rest in this cave.

If there was something else inside the cave, and it attacked us while we were asleep…

With that thought, I said earnestly, "We don't know how deep this cave is yet. Should we go in and take a look?"

Lin Chun hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

He was well aware that if we didn't clarify the situation here and rashly decided to stay, it would be even more dangerous.

We both ate some of the venison and drank some water.

After eating and drinking enough and confirming our spirits were good, we each took a torch and headed towards the cave.

After walking only a few steps, I suddenly stopped and looked at the walls on both sides.

When I saw clearly, my face turned grim!

Lin Chun looked at me with the same astonishment, "Brother Lu, why do I feel like this cave was dug by hand?"

I slowly nodded.

Although I was reluctant to admit it, the fact before us was that this cave seemed to have been dug by hand.

There were even some traces of excavation around, but they were from a very long time ago. If we hadn't both cultivated, these faint traces would have been very difficult to spot.

"Is there someone here or..." Lin Chun was momentarily unsure.

He had been on this island for much less time than I had. There were many things I had seen, but he hadn't.

As the situation was unclear, he could only look to me for guidance.

"I don't know either, let's keep looking..." I said, and stepped forward, continuing to move ahead.

This cave was much longer than we had anticipated, and its construction was surprisingly luxurious.

Even at the lowest point, the height was nearly three meters, and the width was about five meters.

Such an undertaking was no small matter.

We continued to walk forward for nearly ten minutes, and the cave still stretched ahead.

Many bats flew out, along with some unknown birds. Perhaps disturbed by us, they let out piercing screeches.

"So far, we haven't found any particularly dangerous animals..." Lin Chun said.

I nodded.

The beast tide a few days prior had wiped out most of the wild beasts around our city.

The venison we had eaten earlier was caught later...

The absence of any animals in this place was somewhat beyond our expectations. Logically, such a place, offering shelter from the wind and rain and being suitable for habitation, should have attracted many animals to make their homes here.

However, the ground here was covered in dust, and we found no animal footprints. Apart from the bats hanging from the ceiling and some unknown birds, there were no traces of other animals having been active.

I had also observed carefully at the entrance. The entrance was not blocked by any built-up walls or the like.

In other words, the wild animals did not come here not because they were blocked outside, nor because any security measures were in place, but simply because no terrestrial beasts approached this place.

Seeing this, my expression grew even more solemn.

If even wild animals dared not come here, it meant there was definitely something wrong with this place.

We drew our weapons and proceeded further, our minds fully prepared.

As long as anything made us feel uneasy, we would not hesitate to open fire and riddle it with bullets.

We advanced for another half hour or so, and the surroundings suddenly opened up.

The height, which had been about three meters, now became much greater.

Although the path had been winding all the way, I could roughly discern a direction.

We were currently at the very bottom of that mountain peak.

Thinking of the Shepherd God's Power, I covered my eyes, and the effect of darkness on me was instantly minimized.

When I looked around, even though I had prepared myself mentally, I was still filled with immense shock!
