"Could it be that this is why those vines can grow so quickly?" I furrowed my brow, but I didn't dwell on it. I took a shovel from my backpack.
This shovel was found on the previous ship. It was a multi-functional entrenching tool. Besides being a basic shovel, it could also be used as a flint, a knife, and even a cooking pot...
I stood in the most crucial spot and began to dig. With each scoop, dirt was removed. The deeper I dug, the moister the soil became.
"Did you find anything?" Number One asked from a distance, his voice loud.
"You can come take a look yourself. There's no danger now..." I replied.
Number One then jogged over. After a careful glance, he shook his head, "This just looks like ordinary soil. There's no point in digging any further..."
"But I have a feeling there's something beneath..." I said, my hands never stopping, continuing to dig.
And so, a pit about two meters deep was stubbornly dug out by me.
However, nothing unusual happened during this time.
"There's probably nothing here, right..." Number One said.
To be honest, by this point, I was starting to feel unsure myself. Was there really nothing here?
But what about those vines?
Could they move on their own?
I chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Let's dig down another half meter. If nothing unusual, we'll stop..."
"Whatever you say..." Number One smiled and sat down nearby, helping me transport the dirt out of the pit.
Thus, another ten minutes or so passed. As I had already dug down nearly half a meter, I stopped directly.
"Forget it, it seems there's really nothing here..." I said, "Last shovel!"
As I spoke, I swung the shovel hard, driving it down deeply.
Then I heard a metallic clang.
Upon hearing this sound, my face lit up with excitement.
Number One also became alert immediately, looking at me with a gaze full of curiosity.
"Did you find something?" Number One asked, his eyes filled with unconcealable confusion.
"I'm not sure, but I think I hit something..." I said, without hesitation putting down the shovel and starting to dig with my hands.
Soon, a small clearing was revealed where I had been digging.
I had thought it would be iron beneath, but after digging, I discovered it was stone.
"What is this?" Number One noticed the abnormality below but didn't look closely.
I remained silent, examining it carefully. I began to feel around with my hands, and suddenly, my hand seemed to touch a raised surface.
"Let me try..." I said, and pressed down with my hand.
The instant my hand pressed down, the ground around us began to shake violently.
My expression changed, and I quickly jumped out of the pit. The Shepherd's Power covered my body, and I carefully observed the changes around me.
The surrounding vines stretched at a visible speed, then snapped, with many fragments falling to the ground.
The true face of the wall appeared before my eyes.
This wall was exceptionally smooth, absolutely not something that could form naturally.
"Are we sinking, or..." Number One looked around, his eyes somewhat surprised, constantly scanning his surroundings as if searching for something.
I tried my best to remain calm. In this situation, panicking could lead to real danger. And the final outcome was still unclear; I needed to analyze calmly.
I could feel that the sinking speed wasn't too fast. At the very least, landing at the bottom this way wouldn't result in an injury.
But what worried me was that there might be something like the vines below.
If that were the case, it would truly be troublesome.
Without hesitation, I gripped my short sword, my gaze warily fixed on the surroundings.
Just then, the sinking of the ground suddenly stopped with a dull thud.
I realized that we seemed to have landed in a new place, but the view above had not changed.
It felt like being in an elevator.
"This is..." Number One looked around. The floor and ceiling hadn't changed, but the walls around them had.
The walls were still smooth, but they were now covered in carvings of murals.
"What's going on?" Number One's face was filled with confusion and vigilance. He dared not act rashly in this situation.
With the previous experience, every action now required extreme caution.
I took a deep breath, calming myself, then turned and looked at Number One, not speaking.
Perhaps sensing my gaze, Number One looked back, his expression becoming a little unnatural, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
